Welcome to Planet Fitness in Edmonton, Canada, where we prioritize cleanliness and a friendly atmosphere. Our facility is consistently praised for being clean and well-maintained, providing a welcoming environment for all members. Positive experience: Gym is decent, clean, and equipment works. The service from the staff, however; is lacking. Specifically, the 5'8 white male who works there — you gotta atleast pretend to smile . They seem extremely shy to greet guests, which a gesture as simple as that goes a long way.

Positive experience: Staff are super friendly and the space is clean. The only thing is that I've stood at the front desk for 10+ minutes on multiple occasions with no staff in sight. I pay for the black card so I'd like to be able to use the massage chairs and stuff. I've even called the phone so someone would come to the desk.. still no one came. Needs more staff.

Negative experience: I’ve been a member of Planet Fitness for a while now, and I’ve always had a positive experience—until recently. My boyfriend, who is my Black Card guest, was denied entry to the gym by Micah, the assistant general manager, simply because he didn’t have his ID with him. We’ve been to this location multiple times before, and no one has ever asked for an ID, either for him or for me. I've also brought other friends to the gym without any issues, so this felt like an unusual and inconsistent enforcement of policy. When we asked to speak with the general manager to understand why this was being enforced so strictly today, Micah refused to provide any information about the GM or their contact details. We were told that my boyfriend needed his ID for "liability reasons," but this explanation left us confused since this rule has never been applied before. I’d like to understand why some staff members are enforcing this rule while others are not. It would also make more sense to have a waiver to sign instead of requiring an ID to be shown—especially when this wasn’t a consistent practice in the past. I hope the management can clarify the reasoning behind this policy and ensure that all staff members are on the same page.

Fantastic experience: Nice space with most of the toys. Can do any functional workout here. A BB rack would be awesome. Trainer on site, massages for recovery, this place has what you need and the monthly rate for the black card can't be beat!

Negative experience: loved this place. I had never worked out or done any fitness before, but I signed up for this gym after a friend recommended it to me. The facility is very clean and large, and the staff is friendly—except for the rude manager mentioned in some reviews. I found that staffs of this gym changed quite frequently; sometimes they were new and didn't know much, then their coworkers educated the new staff friendly, but the manager was not. She was always rude. When I asked about canceling /pausing my membership due to a long trip, the manager said that the fee was on hold and could not be canceled, advising me to come back in two days. However, when I returned, she said that my membership had already been paid and that she could not issue a refund. I asked why I had to pay for a membership that I hadn't used, and the manager said just i cant be. When I told her that I want to cancel my membership, She sighed, passed the work to the new staff member next to her, and left. That attitude was very unpleasant and unprofessional. Even though my membership was canceled, I still had to pay for the month that I hadn't used. A recent review mentioned that the manager had transferred, so I guess I have a reason to consider signing up for this gym again. cause everything was good except the staff!

Fantastic experience: Love this gym! It is a bright, big gym that is always clean and has great energy. The staff always greet you with a warm smile and a welcoming hello! Highly recommend this gym too everyone!

Negative experience: The location is great, but my experience was terrible. My daughter invited me as a guest with the membership she has. The trainer is the worse person I have seen of how he treats his coworkers. He doesn’t make you feel welcomed. He does not greet and asks if his guidance is needed. He was on The phone most of the time I was there. The rest of the staff is very polite, but he only bosses them around as he wants. He is racist or discriminates with people with dark complexion and others that “do not seem Canadian”.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time using this Planet Fitness location and it was a great experience. The massage chairs are fantastic and very helpful for relaxation. I tried the shower and the water temperature was perfect, plus the bathrooms were very clean. I also noticed that the staff is always cleaning the equipment and the floor, which makes the place feel very hygienic. Overall, it’s a well-maintained facility with attentive staff. Highly recommended!

The manager though , let me say she has gone above and beyond for me . Not just working out but even my mental health . Negative experience: The Sherwood Park location does not have a trainer. I made an appointment with the one at Bonnie Doon. They had contacted me via email to cancel my appointment and asked me to contact them to rebook. It’s been 3 emails and almost two weeks later with no response. Very unprofessional.

Positive experience: The gym is very clean and equipped. The only issue that I can tell is about outside bike locker, there's no place to lock your bike outside.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym! I recently got set up with a Black Card. There are SO many great features packed into the monthly fee. Their spa is amazing, staff always provides excellent service, and equipment and locker rooms are always super clean - with enough availability for everyone. They are transparent and flexible when it comes to memberships and cancellations, (which is a huge plus). And in case you're a frequent traveller, it's good to know that your Black Card membership will extend to any Planet Fitness worldwide! Definitely consider joining Bonnie Doon PF if you're looking for an awesome gym in Edmonton. *Edit: Other reviewers who are complaining about not being able to take photos or film themselves simply don't understand the rules. Management works hard to create a judgment free zone, and they want everyone who comes to the gym to feel comfortable working out. I joined this gym specifically for that reason, and I'm incredibly thankful that they go above and beyond to take care of their club members.

Negative experience: used to be a member, when I’d take mirror selfies on the floor some cranky redhead woman or her other staff would tell me I’m not allowed and that it’s planet fitness policy. never had this issue at the south common location or the west end

Positive experience: Staff is nice, there's generally enough equipment so you don't have to wait around and the membership is inexpensive. The one weird thing is they don't have a scale so people don't feel bad about themselves but then there's a sign on the wall to call people "lunks" if they drop their weights or wear a workout singlet. Not too sure what the marketing angle is there but it's just a strange vibe overall

Fantastic experience: I have worked out at many fitness clubs and been a coach at two ladies fitness clubs. This Planet Fitness Club at the Bonnie Doon location is by far the best club I have worked out at. If you also are looking for a VERY supported, encouraging environment where members as well as staff band together to reach our fitness and wellness goals in a warm community look no further.

Negative experience: This is the last time that I’m coming to this location. Every time that I’m here the experience is worse and worse, staff is not nice, they don’t even greet you or make you feel welcomed on this place, and is always full. I would prefer drive to Windermere, South Common or even Saint Albert instead of this location.

Negative experience: Men are allowed in the women’s change room and bathroom. Female-only spaces are extremely important for the safety of women, please revise your policy so I can feel safe coming here.

Negative experience: Went in person in January to cancel and they said they would cancel for me. My account kept getting charged and they told me it was never cancelled and told me a manager would contact me. Never did. Then when I phoned back to talk to a manager about cancelling the person said they couldn't do nothing at all. Don't go here at all They charged me twice this month for what seems to be an annual charge each time. I tried to get a hold of them by any method and they still won't cancel it. I'm starting to feel like I have to take legal action against them as now this has cut into my grocery bill for the month

Negative experience: Just disgusting.. a dog with a fake Amazon service vest on wandering around the gym, , Unleashed, jumping on the owner during the workout, jumping on equipment, and the owner not cleaning anything afterwards. This was not a service dog. I have seen real trained service dogs and they do not behave this way. This was an entitled patron getting his way at the expense of everyone else at that gym. I will not be returning to this planet fitness.

Positive experience: Big space with lots of new, well-oiled new machines! Staff is very friendly as well. There are only smith machines available (no squat racks) and more priority is given to cardio and other weight machines. There is a decent free weight section with dumbbells up to 75lbs. Bring a lock for the lockers!

Negative experience: Love this place, but if the manager with dark red hair is there, dont bother. You'll know who im talking about if you see her face, condescending, unreasonable, and rude always for any minor grievance

Negative experience: PF Bonnie Donn Area, they’ll say monthly plan is only 15 but you will pay extra and ended up paying double because of hidden fees. And when u ask about it they give you excuses like it’s because your card is expired even it’s not and blah blah. If there’s a problem with the billing information, you should give the customer a call or email to update the billing info and not charge them double!

Fantastic experience: Very nice and clean gym! Staff was very friendly! I went here today to try the gym with the PF Day Pass! Very large gym, free wifi, and the coolest part is that you can control the music with an app called Rockbot so you can become like a personal DJ. So say like if you don’t really like a song they are playing you can request for a song to be played and then they play it after the song the gym was playing. Very highly recommend this gym and will be coming back to get a membership!

Negative experience: Very rude staff, literally walked in the door and some guy snipped at me. Said take them off, I wore my shoes from the car to inside. Apparently that's a no go but couldn't even bothered to be nice when saying it. He wouldn't even let me say anything interrupted me and lectured me and was extremely rude. Even though this is close to my house. I will drive to the one in south common or go to the one in st Albert location. This is the first rude employee I encountered here. I see any reviews left are for you to call the management team?

Negative experience: I recently signed up for a free trial at Planet Fitness in the Bonnie Doon Mall, and while the facility itself is clean and well maintained, some of the equipment is just bad. Planet Fitness stocks their gyms with Matrix equipment, and a lot of it is lacking in adjustability, making it hard to find optimal positions to get the work done. The leg extension and lat pull-down, in particular, just promote bad ergonomics. I thought maybe it was just me, so I cross-referenced Matrix Fitness equipment on Trust Pilot, and found that my criticisms are shared by others. Also, there are no barbells and squat racks at the Bonnie Doon location, so you can forget deadlifts, back squats, overhead presses and many other exercises. The change rooms are spacious, and there are enough showers to accommodate at least a few people, but inexplicably, there is a serious lack of benches to either put your stuff on or use to change. At $15 a month, I think there is a lot of value here, but I have been to many gyms in Edmonton, and I can find better equipment elsewhere, at the same price point. I am willing to give up showers and a communal change room to use equipment developed by a reputable brand(s).

Fantastic experience: I have been to many gyms over the years and I like Planet Fitness for their membership options and that you are not locked in. The locker rooms are fabulous and super clean. Probably some of the nicest I have been in. The App is fantastic as it allows you to see how busy the gym is with their Crowd Meter. Lots of cardio machines and circuit machines. Missing some of the free weights though.

Fantastic experience: Great gym for beginners and experienced people. yes, it may not have the heaviest weight or barbells, just smith machines, but if you're not powerlifting this gym, it is not that bad especially for the price

Fantastic experience: Signed up today! Sam was amazing. The facility is really clean. Change rooms were fantastic. I like that it’s quiet with no obnoxious music playing and that they don’t allow for filming on the workout floor. I’m looking forward to being a member. Once again Sam was absolutely fantastic and employs exceptional customer service skills. Hoping for a rewarding experience on my journey back to fitness!

Fantastic experience: Tried fir the first time recently and it was great. Lots of equipment, very nice staff and amazing price point! Recommend their black card, $360 for the year that has extra perks on top of the gym! My partner is getting that membership!

Fantastic experience: This space is amazing, always squeaky clean. Staff are friendly and pleasant. There is always available equipment, never too busy. The perks are my absolute favorite. I love the Tanning Beds, Hydro Massage Beds and Massage Chairs. It's the best gym I have ever belonged to. I would recommend it to anyone.

Negative experience: the girls working at the counter are way too slow. they can’t seem to multitask. please train them to be fast and efficient. age may be a factor but this needs to be addressed. i almost stopped coming to this gym because of slow service.

Negative experience: Super friendly staff. Locker rooms and gym area are always clean. The monthly rate was more than reasonable for a gym membership. However. Despite signage claiming that staff "monitor the area," the 30 minute circuit area isn't monitored at all. I loved that area. I don't love having to wait for people who aren't doing the actual circuit to finish using the one machine they wandered in to use. There are signs posted prominently that people ignore. I have let the staff know and I'm told the manager is aware and that the staff can't monitor it because only 1-2 people are ever scheduled for a shift. This is an issue that I know affects other patrons because I have spoken to other patrons who use the circuit area. So even though I have to pay more, and I don't REALLY want to, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
