Positive experience: I go and use just the pool/ Marrian room all the time ! Dunno what people are talking about saying you can just do that- 5$ a person.. going again today

Fantastic experience: Great place, clean and better then Fit4less. My wife and I can workout and kids can have fun in the pool.

Negative experience: There's no option for a pool access only membership, and memberships are quite expensive. Something is usually broken. For a few months it was the swimsuit dryer in the women's changeroom, now it's the TP holder in one of the stalls, but usually it's the hot tub. I've never seen any maintenance staff around, and have had to let the front desk staff know about issues like urine on the floor. Edit: Docking another star because of the inconsistent pool hours. Hire more lifeguards! It's absurd that there are multiple week nights (and weekend days, for that matter) when the pool isn't open at all.

Positive experience: This place is a long term care facility in the early mornings, and a family day at disney land in the evenings. I got farted on by an old lady in the hall way one time and I am still bitter about it. I have a feeling she didn't even notice and the back of her head is all I remember before nearly dying of asphyxiation. Going in to the men's change room is also traumatic 8/10 times. The free weights and excercise equipment are solid. I am pleased. The cardio equipment is also great, although many of the machines are worn out to the point the resistance settings don't work. The basketball court is also great, but the rim on the right side is loose and very loud and clunky. Replacing it or tightening it would be great! There are only 2 staff members from my experience with good manners, who reply to "good mornings". I am usually ignored by the rest and thats fine, but not a very good impression to make at the front desk as a business. Maybe I am old fashioned but I'd want my customers to feel welcomed if I was taking their money and not give out "stuck up" vibes. Overall my experience here has been pretty awesome, but to the early morning people please be warned not to walk too closely behind the seniors, its a biohazard.

Fantastic experience: I like how friendly the staff and the diversity of body types and levels of fitness of the people I see. Definitely makes someone who hasn’t been to the gym before much more comfortable. Also I love having a pool I can access as an apartment renter!

Negative experience: Poorly managed. Showers are gross and have no privacy walls. When amenities close they do not update their website. Closes at 2pm on the weekends?! Very small workout room and not enough equitment. Too pricey for a gym that is lacking in almost every aspect

Positive experience: I love the Y. I think it’s a great gym, feel very welcome and safe when I’m there working out. But the drop in day pass is so expensive. Just to go swim or use the gym for an hour is $16. And half the time the hot tub isn’t working. Feel like that is a bit of a rip off.. disappointed in that.

Negative experience: Wouldn't recommend sending your kids to day camp here. My kids had a terrible experience. We're crying most times when I picked them up. Got bullied by other kids on the daily and nothing was done even after requesting keeping said child away from mine. We called and made a complaint and my kids come home and say please don't call and complain anymore bc the councellors are being mean to us ever since we complained. My kids were afraid to even tell us anything bad happened in fear we would complain again and it would be taken out on them by councellors. Very unprofessional. Bunch of kids watching kids. Multiple times I've seen other parents picking their kids up and the councellors had no clue where the kid even was. They had to search the place to find him. Place is a joke.

Fantastic experience: Great facility and lovely staff. Cardio area is separate from the weight room which are both well equipped with all the machines I need. Memberships have different levels, bi weekly $20 is well priced if you go often.

Fantastic experience: Travelling through St.Thomas! One of my favourite YMCA locations, wish Corporate YMCA would support my local Oshawa facility with this much commitment for improvement. Great layout with tons of space to figure out what's in store for your next workout! Staff are friendly! Building seems to be full of energy! Very clean, machines are in great shape. Thanks for the quick sweat! See ya down the road!

Negative experience: Just want to swim with our kids every other weekend! But we now need a 42$ BI-WEEKLY membership!? So silly. Make day passes available some people only go once and month and having to pay for a monthly membership is ridiculous.. this is supposed to be a community center , Everyone should have reasonable access to! Hard to get the kids out of the house and off the video games in the winter without spending a small fortune on anything you do.

Negative experience: My wife was looking for a pool to do basic swimming from time to time or perhaps the occasional aquafit class, But at the YMCA (St Thomas)she was told she would have to pay for a Full blown membership with all the bells and whistles ( Everything program $42.50 bi-weekly) just so she could use the pool probably twice a week. Outrageous!!! So a quick search and we found a $6.25 drop in fee in London at the pool near white oaks, Perfect. Come on YMCA get with the times!

Negative experience: This YMCA facility was good pre- pandemic. Now the hours are ridiculously short, the membership fees are astronomical, the equipment isn't running properly and the facility is understaffed. We were turned away many times due to the pool not having staff, and also due to the pool closing right after swimming lessons. Why did the operating hours change? Weekend hours are for the birds only. Programs for the kids are nearly absent now. I'm genuinely curious what they are charging so much money for. 0/5

Fantastic experience: Great YMCA big and clean!

Fantastic experience: The pool area has a wide range of available times to suit everyone. The aquafit program is great for all levels of experience and has no gender or age limits. It lets you work at your own pace. I love this part of the program and it is a great work out while having fun at the same time. You can be in the shallow end or the deep end, so the choice is completely yours. I also enjoy the wider range of options you have with the work out equipment in the weight room. It is nice to have the choice of free weights or you can use the equipment upstairs like the treadmill, bike or stairmaster. There is something for everyone and always friendly staff available to assist if you have questions!

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit to the YMCA and to see the team at the Talbot trail Physiotherapy. I just had knee replacement surgery March 17th. The great, friendly and helpful staff set me up for 8 visits over the next 6 weeks. I look forward to getting moving again.

Positive experience: I love the YMCA I used to go back in Cape Breton all the time and worked out played squash and basketball also enjoyed swimming and the workout gym most of all but my only complaint is they aren't open late enough ! So thats why they get 4 stars please open back up till 10pm during the week and 7 pm on weekends !

Fantastic experience: From the moment I walk through the doors, I'm greeted by friendly, helpful staff. The facility is always clean and programs are run smoothly. As a mother of 5 children, it's a great place for the family to have fun together. I'm eagerly awaiting when all areas are reopened (hot tub, sauna, etc.) and classes such as gymnastics and karate resume.

Fantastic experience: People are friendly and encouraging. The programs scale well for level and intensity. The environment is respectful and safe. The equipment is well maintained. The music keeps the energy up. I absolutely love programs at the Y!

Negative experience: The YMCA St Thomas is a great place for family activities. Clean and well maintained. I highly recommend. EDIT, June 2024. Unfortunately I have to remove a few of stars off my St. Thomas YMCA review. Someone that knows nothing about infection control in a gym environment replaces the excellent wipes with a spray bottle/dry paper towel. Consequently every time someone picks up the spray bottle they cross contaminate and the cleaning process becomes non effective/flawed. The paper towels break when accessed, causing most people to not clean workout equipment at all.

Negative experience: Okay, first off, I really like the YMCA. Great for me and my family. But this Avocado sign up system. I am technically inclined but my wife does not enjoy technology as much as I do. She has mentioned to me how much anxiety and distress it has caused her to get through the seasonal registrations. I finally got access to it today. It is an unmitigated disaster to try to navigate. My phone literally started heating up and my browser started crashing. I got emotional. Nobody needs that kind of distress. Who authorizes this kind of thing? Please for the love of all things holy, fix it, or dump it, or something.

Fantastic experience: My son participates in the Swim Ables swimming progran. This program is awesome!! All of the workers are sweet and remember my son when he comes in and his swimming instructor is the most amazing lady. I highly recommend their swim program for kids with ASD.

Positive experience: Went to practice scuba and for two people it was 30 bucks for the last hour the pool was open. ...not worth it. Never wear a scuba mask in a public pool.....you cannot unsee the things floating around in there. Don't complain when the pool is closed for cleaning. ...it needs it.

Positive experience: There is a rope swing in the pool area. A rope swing! At a public pool! I mean, maybe I've been living a sheltered life, but this is amazing. A friggin' rope swing!!! I'll be honest, this is the only thing I remember about my visit, but isn't that enough?!? Why are you going somewhere that doesn't have a rope swing?!? What's wrong with you?
