GoodLife Fitness Surrey Newton Commerce Centre offers a convenient location with a variety of equipment and facilities, making it a great choice for fitness enthusiasts. The gym is open 24/7, providing flexibility for members to work out at their convenience. Visitors appreciate the ample sunlight, cleanliness, and the dedicated women's section. The staff is generally helpful and friendly, contributing to a welcoming environment.
However, there have been several concerns raised by members. Some users noted issues with equipment hygiene and cleanliness, mentioning that not all members wipe down machines after use. Negative experience: ...Update - ended up cancelling my membership. The staff was very helpful in the cancellation process. Not a single question asked as to why I was cancelling my membership!!!!!... I was aware of potential traffic congestion in the area, but the advertised sauna facilities were a significant draw. Unfortunately, the sauna is currently out of service with no estimated repair time. Additionally, the staff's performance indicates a lack of adequate training and professionalism. The location also suffers from poor cellular reception, and the Wi-Fi is unreliable. The management needs to invest in updating wifi equipment.

Fantastic experience: This location is amazing. The staff are always super sweet and knowledgeable of the equipment and whenever you need help, the staff are always helpful. It is also super clean compared to other gyms. Shoutout to Millan Bains, he is always free of judgement and always has a smile on his face. One of the best PTs at this gym.

Negative experience: Gym is so small compared to to other gyms there is no network in the gym the wifi didn’t work so slow. Really poor service i never renew my contract

Negative experience: Can someone please clean up the elliptical machines.. there is so much hair and whatever else in the corner of the foot pedals and it has been like this for months!!!! So gross!!!!!!!!

Negative experience: Do not sign up for a membership at this location!!! This gym boasts about having a Sauna, but it never works or is in a constant stage of maintenance. The staff, though well meaning are of no help. The wifi also horrible and is never working. The cell phone reception is terrible in this particular area, so its your only option for streaming music. Be prepared to wait for machines as the gym is over crowded most days. Im sincerely disappointed by my experience, as someone who travels and frequents many of the Goodlifes in BC this is a poor reflection of the brand and quality that goodlife actually stood for. Spend your hard earned money at other gyms.

Negative experience: I have been with club16 or 12 years and decided to change good life fitness as they have separate enterance for women section and usually never busy. But the women side enterabce QR scanner never works frok the app. So tell me whats the point of having app or you guys are advertised about the scan from app? I used the free trail time and loved it. So joined it few days ago so basically app scan bar code is useless or either that scanners isn't best quality. The person working said oh ya it doenst work and he got me kep fob typed one and saod take pic and keep in your phone and scan it it does work. But I tried for 2-3 min today didn't get scan. Glad I had the same car to drive today and the fob was with me or otherwise goto the main entrance from men area and askthen to let you in. So basically women side entrance is unavailable from the app. With amount of fee they charge, I am sure this place can afford a better QR scanner.

Negative experience: I am having a horrible experience trying to become a member at this gym. I have been a GoodLife me member for a long time in Ontario. I moved here and tired to join. I was asked to sign something off computer but it was all blurred and I wasn’t able to read it. I asked what it said the guy at the desk said “he has no idea” or can’t even give me any idea what I’m signing. After this he still charged me $41 dollars to join. Then I tried going to the gym and my GoodLife card which they gave me didn’t work. The guy at the desk then said I’m not a member cause I didn’t sign. I said I have no problem signing I just needed it but blurred out and to be told what I’m signing. I also said I paid $41 so why was I paying that if I’m not a member. I finally got in touch with a manager. She was nice and said that $41 stays in my GoodLife account and when I re register all I have to pay is $20 to re regregister and the $41 will go to my first month. I called again today to try to activate my membership and the guy (the guy is spoke with todays name is Rojan) said he has no idea what she’s talking about and I would have to pay $60. He had a very bad attitude the way he spoke to me as well. This is not a good representation of GoodLife being a a GoodLife member for over a decade this is the worst staff experience I have experienced. GoodLife should make you want to join not the opposite. I feel very deterrred from This gym as every one of the guys I speak to at the desk seems if I am bothering them and they have no ideas what’s going on. Everytime I walk in they are on phones and I have to wave them down multiple times to get their attention. The manager seems very nice but her employees seems extremely unprofessional and not welcoming or informed on what good life stands for or any of the policies. Please get the manager to reach out to me as soon as possible or the owner. This process has been very unpleasant.

Negative experience: I only got the membership because of their separate entrance for women but ever since i have joined this gym their women door scanner is out of service and its been more than three months now , nobody took care of it. I don’t know what’s the point of having separate entrance when it’s always out of service. Not only me but a-lot of other members are frustrated with this issue.!!

Fantastic experience: Visiting surrey and decided to check this GoodLife location out. Very impressed and have come at different times of the day. It's never busy! I can use all the machines I usually use. It's very clean, everyone is either too themselves and polite. Nice front desk guy! Massage chairs are well maintained compared to my normal gym and I'm so happy for that! Definitely will keeping visiting this location when I am in surrey! Happy Holidays

Fantastic experience: Often times, members dont put weights back and dont wipe down their machines which is very unhygienic. However, A janitor comes around every night and cleans the entire gym so its good to see the gym take actions to ensure cleanliness. Staff at desk is also very nice. Running a 24 hr gym cant be easy but they seem to be doing a good job

Negative experience: Title: Missing Towels - A Disappointing Experience I recently joined GoodLife and opted for a membership plan that included towel services. However, I must express my disappointment as these towels have been consistently unavailable during my visits to the Surrey branch. While the gym itself offers an excellent range of equipment and facilities, the absence of towels, which were promised in my membership, has been a noticeable inconvenience. Towels are an essential part of my workout routine, aiding in hygiene and comfort, especially during intense workouts. I understand that the availability of towels can vary from location to location, but it's disheartening to not have access to an amenity I paid for. I hope that GoodLife can address this issue promptly to ensure that members receive the full benefits of their chosen membership plans. In conclusion, I'd like to emphasize that I genuinely enjoy the gym's offerings, but the absence of towels at the Surrey branch has affected my overall experience negatively. I hope to see an improvement in this area soon.

Fantastic experience: Literally a scam of 24-hour advertisement that made me join this gym. Joined way after covid and 24 hours was mentioned to be done after some time. Been 3 years post covid and all other locations are already 24 hours instead of this one. Cancelled many plans because of their hours. High joining fees make it unworthy to change the gym as it is already invested. Hope i could join anytime fitness or any other true 24-hour gym. Update- they have changed the hours after review and bought 24/7 back. Thank to the management. Getting my workouts anytime now and is satisfied with the gym itself.!

Negative experience: March 2024 Edit/update: The backdoor entry for the women's gym has been out of service since January!! and they haven't fixed this. It takes FOREVER for them to fix things. This is a huge inconvenience to women who want to utilize this entrance and infact this entrance was a selling point for me when I joined. So annoying. Each time I inquire.. there has been no progress and I know other women are frustrated as well. Why does it take this long to address something like this ??? now you have to walk through the entire gym to get to the womens side. Smh. Pros : clean and tidy. Nice equipment. Love that the ladies side has weight machines tailored for a smaller more narrow body making it easier to lift weights. And big plus - you can finally access the womens gym from the back door with your fob so you don't have to go through the entire gym again. Cons: the spray bottles for cleaning/wiping equipment are BIG TIME watered down. Theres barely any actual cleaning/sanitizing agent in them. I'd like to think that since I pay more for this gym than others in the area - that I would have to worry less about germs/sweaty equipment. Another big one : the WIFI sucks and they don't do anything to fix it... they're just like " yah we know.... it sucks" uhm..... huh? This is kind of a big deal ..its 2023 - wifi shouldn't be an issue. So I have to use my Data while I'm there which is lame. And there are ways to fix this - they should invest more in getting better more reliable internet. Infact, I wish more people would actually complain about this - bc I have heard other people bitching about this on multiple occasions.

Negative experience: Be warned. Goodlife greed now rips off drop- ins for $25 + tax. Go to fitness world marine gateway . It’s $10 Edit: $25 is still greedflation, goodlife . Spin it any way you want. Just like you jacked up your corporate rates.

Positive experience: Staff is friendly, place tends to be fairly clean. Hours need to be extended, the weekend hours are pretty limited compared to Poco location. Management needs to figure out a system to bring towels back instead of just taking them away. Make people take it against their membership or something, so you can bill anyone who doesn't return them. It's dumb that we pay for a service available at other locations but not here.

Negative experience: I went to the gym at 6.30 am, hoping to work out, As new to surrey and it was close . it says 24 hours and yet it was close. Was expecting it to be open same as the one i normally workout at ( Calgary) A total waste of time 20 minutes drive there. will not use this place again

Negative experience: Good gym but hour are terrible though as literally any other gym is open longer and on more days. Closed on every single holiday even when other GoodLife gyms are open. Advertised as 24/7 but that’s fake. Closed at 6pm on weekends and 10pm on weekdays. Gotta fix the hours to make it worth it.

Negative experience: The gym itself is good but the wifi is basically non existent. You can’t even load Spotify songs. There is no reason for the wifi to be this bad. If you’re with Telus the reception in the gym is terrible so you can’t use your data either. Really ruins the experience.

Positive experience: I love this gym and have had a membership here for 5 or 6 years. It's always clean and the staff are nice! Just really annoyed and disappointed that they don't seem to be operating as a 24 hour gym anymore. The reason I signed up initially was because it was 24 hour service. The Covid restrictions that were previously limiting their hours of operation are no longer in place. So it's disappointing that they still aren't open 24 hours, especially when every other gym in the lower mainland returned to their 24 hour schedule months ago. Not sure what the excuse is.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to this gym for 5 years. Some of the complaints I'm reading here are ridiculous. Don't give this gym a low rating when your complaint has nothing to do with how they operate. A low rating because of other club members cologne? Ridiculous. Staff here have always been super friendly. I too get annoyed when people don't put their weights away but that's not the gyms fault, that's just inconsiderate people with no self awareness, and you can find those people anywhere you go, not just the gym. I do wish this gym was 24 hours because that is the reason I started my membership here, but I understand there's a pandemic. Go look into buying all the weights and equipment (as many people looked into during this pandemic), it's hundreds of thousands of dollars so stop complaining, stop acting like a baby, get your workout in and just be a pleasant person.

Negative experience: Long time Goodlife member with access to all locations. Goodlife as a corporate gym has never been able to enforce quality control standards across the various locations I've used. With COVID, this gym has been a huge disappointment. Metrotown and Northgate locations both have staff to manage members who are not following COVID protocols. This location has none of that. Members do not wipe equipment down after each use, masks are not worn between equipment and the overall hygiene is disgusting. On top of that, there is 0 social distancing between members...this gym is a COVID outbreak waiting to happen.

Negative experience: Called them as soon as I saw a 50$ charge pop up on my statements and they had told me to come in to their location but I had actually moved so that wasn’t possible knowing that I canceled my account a year ago. So he told me to email the owner which I did. After emailing the owner of this good life i have not heard any information back and am very disappointed that they charged my card even though I was under the impression from the employees that my account was cancelled. Clearly shows they care about money more then keeping their clients happy.
Negative experience: The gym is no longer 24 hours. The monthly charges are not reduced as their hours of operation are so what’s the point of paying higher prices? The only reason I joined 4 years ago was 24 hours and quality gym. Pandemic is just an excuse because anytime fitness, planet fitness, and many more are open 24/7.

Negative experience: I was a member of this GoodLife location when it first opened and it was great. Tons of machine available and it's spacious. I found their service and care for their customers go down as the years went on even prior to COVID-19. I had filed a complaint a couple years ago where an employee was rushing everyone out of the gym for their hours were reduced due it being a holiday, that the changing room lights were shut off on me in the middle of me changing! I had trouble even finding my phone to be able to use my phone light. It's disappointing to see this GoodLife location become like this where it has so much potential.

Negative experience: Great gym just wished it was back to 24 hrs Again. This other goodlife fitness has went back to 24 hrs GoodLife Fitness Burnaby Northgate. Hopefully more locations go back to the 24 hr format As this is what they promote which was a major plus for me when I joined a awhile back.

Fantastic experience: Clean, new equipment, nice view of trees, good pump music and not sad breakup songs lol... Nice size space. Good turf areas. Lots of good gear.

Positive experience: People using 2 machines at a time when the gym’s only opened for 1 hour for you. Should make a rule to not use more than one machines or equipments when gym is full on capacity. Everything else is fine.

Negative experience: Been going here since they just opened, but now it’s completely different. They’re not even open 24 hours anymore too.

Fantastic experience: Trying to get a membership issue resolved with the manager Sheetal for now close to a month. After multiple phone calls and emails, it is like pulling teeth trying to get a response. Avoid this gym if you expect any customer service Edit: Head office reached out to me and resolved the issue asap

Negative experience: Absolute trash! Idk if I can blame the gym, but the people there make it reek of sweat and cologne. The ladies room does not have a wide variety of machines so I have to go to the co-ed Section (which is fine) but the culture there makes it seem too segregated. I wish it wasn't like that so I could work out comfortably. The staff was always nice though.

Positive experience: I’ve been going to this gym for about 5+ years now and have had good experiences for the most part. When I initially joined my experience with the staff was fantastic but over time as new employees have rolled in I don’t have the same friendly interactions (with the exception of one or two specific staff members) even though I go there regularly. For a smaller location the selection in equipment is really good and they’re consistent with updating and maintaining it. However, the members at this gym seem to leave equipment/weights lying around everywhere, more particularly, in the women’s section to the point where space to workout becomes limited unless you begin put away other members equipment for them. Most people also don’t wipe down the equipment so be sure to do so before you sit/lay on anything. Other than that, it suits my needs for my routine and it’s been an enjoyable place to go!

Negative experience: Update - i talked with the employee they said gym isn’t making that much money to be 24 hours. But they still have advertisement board, up and running outside the gym, which advertise the gym is 24 hrs. Paying a premium price just to get 24hrs availability! They give the excuse of covid how come your competitors are open for 24hrs and you not. Mgmt seems to be saving some bucks but its not ethical.
We apologize for how these restrictions have impacted your workouts. From time to time, our hours of operation may be adjusted to allow our clubs to be staffed accordingly to allow ongoing cleaning throughout the day. Members are welcome to freeze their memberships at no cost while such restrictions are in place.

Negative experience: The staff always cranks the heat to full blast making it nearly impossible to workout. After multiple complaints they still do not listen. I am cancelling my membership, don’t know how you expect me to workout in 30 degree temperatures. They should just not use the heat at all in my opinion just leave the gym cold, makes people workout harder. I have to go workout at newton just cus of the heat.

Positive experience: I am a huge fitness enthusiast, with a previous membership to SN and Trevor Linden; having found Goodlife co the best option as i travel often for work. Perks for the 76 st location: Amble parking✅ Always have enough towels✅ Open layout, floor space✅ Reasonable amount of Stair Mills✅ Ladies have a reasonable size including all the machines for a full circuit workout✅ I can always COME, Workout and Go ✅✅ The female members at this location work hard, leave you alone and AREN’T in your face snapping selfies every 5 minutes. Fix the girls entrance and you get a 5 star ⭐️

Negative experience: Disgusting gym. Rude staff, lied about the length of my contract. Instead of transferring my membership from Alberta to BC they had me sign a 2 year contract renewal. My fault for not reading the contract and, but when the person behind the desk tells you your contract ends normally just continuing from when I signed up in Alberta I thought I was fine. The manager also admitted this isnt the first time someone has been told different from what their contract says. Guess misleading and lying to your clients is policy at this location.
Negative experience: Gym is so dead. Music is down most of the time. NO wifi. Not even a manager to complain to. Gym is supposed to be vibrant and lively. Surrey branch is like a cemetery. No wonder members are moving to different gym. If you want to be motivated to workout, don't go to this place.
Negative experience: Service is 24 hrs,,,I have called them 20 times in last half an hour No one is answer the phone. My membership ended on May 13,2019 they are still Charging my Bank account. I am trying to talk No one answering Worst customer service......

Negative experience: Loved the good life fitness been going for a few years from Winnipeg to Toronto to Calgary always kept up with cleanness and has respectful employees that is always ready to help. And now living i'm in surrey went to Surrey Newton I cannot believe how lazy these employees are one team member told me if I don't like it here than leave i told him he should get off his phone and start cleaning up it was smelling like bad odor all he did was look at me and go back to his video call . I told him i was going to call the manager and right away he laughs and says my family isn't going to help you. So after four long years of paying a high price membership which was worth it until now I decided to cancel my membership not worth giving these low caring managements my time or money. I went with Anytime Fitness and will stay with them. Sorry Good Life a good customer is now gone. Good luck and farewell. This store does not deserve any star.

Negative experience: Good gym but very DIRTY, no one wipes down the equipment and I’ve never had to leave a gym due to the smell of bad body odours, before now...
Positive experience: Sauna, 24/7 and clean.
