Negative experience: The environment made me uncomfortable. The front desk is commonly empty and the staff felt disingenuous despite the presented nature of the establishment. Anytime that I've visited, I feel pressured off or away from equipment. No moderation/consideration for clientele who are subjected to others taking videos or selfie while they are exercising. Workout stations are not maintained regularly by staff and it's apparent from the acrid smell once you pass the front desk. I do not have the same experiences with other gyms around town and would strongly avoid this establishment as it feels like it only caters to people with a "social media" presence, rather than anyone who just wants to better themselves physically.

Negative experience: Management doesn't understand customer service, cancelling membership is basically impossible unless you threaten legal action. It used to be a good gym but all of the employees who actually cared about the place left or were fired over petty things with management. There's so many better options in Barrie it's just not worth the hassle. The equipment is broken or on the verge of breaking too and no one seems to care

Negative experience: PLEASE turn down the music! It’s so damn loud that it’s basically impossible to listen to your own music. Have to wear earplugs just to drown out the god awful music that is played. It’s not a nightclub!

Fantastic experience: World Gym Barrie – A Fitness Community Like No Other World Gym Barrie is hands down the best gym experience I’ve ever had! From the moment I walked through the doors, I was welcomed by the friendliest, most supportive staff and members. The sense of community here is unreal—I’ve made new friends who share the same fitness goals, and we motivate each other every day. The facility is incredibly clean, which is always a plus. You can tell that the staff takes pride in maintaining a top-notch environment. What really stands out, though, is the motivational atmosphere. The walls are covered with cool, inspirational quotes and artwork that keep you pumped through every workout. It’s impossible not to feel driven when you’re surrounded by that kind of energy. To top it all off, World Gym Barrie offers all of this at an affordable price. If you’re looking for a gym that’s not only affordable but also feels like home, this is the place. Fantastic experience: LOVE THIS GYM! The World Gym on Bayfield St. in the Kozlov Mall is probably the best gym we've ever been to. It's clean, accessible, has everything you might need in a gym, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Honestly, I've had the best experience with this gym and the management. They literally bent over backwards to help me when an issue arose. I had a fairly large billing issue, and when I reached out to the manager, not knowing if they would even be able to help, I was met with such compassion and care that I was actually dumbfounded. This level of customer care and consideration is rare these days. The manager, Bryanne, was such a lovely and professional human. She went above and beyond to help me and accommodate me going forward in the future. The truth is that all the staff have been just as caring and willing to help at any time. It really is just a lovely atmosphere that makes us want to be a part of it. I highly recommend this gym if you're looking to sign up somewhere in Barrie! You won't regret it!

Negative experience: The only reason I give a 1 star review is because even after all the hoops they made me jump through to cancel my membership, they have continued to charge me for 2 years. (One of which was spent out of country) I have spoken with 4 different employees, all of which have said a manager would respond and they never do. They can confirm it was cancelled in 2022 but can't explain the charges ongoing. Stop stealing money from people.

Positive experience: Loved my month trial here great equipment selection especially the cable racks. Quite clean overall and most equipment in working order. My one humble suggestion is to place hooks in or just outside shower stalls to hang your towel and check the drainage some of the stalls didn't drain until the main outside drain area not in their individual stalls.

Positive experience: The gym is goated in terms of equipment and price, but the hours, MUSIC, disorganization, lack of staff, and broken machines bring it down. DO NOT forget your headphones unless you want to hear some of the worst mind numbing sleep inducing top 40 garbage adult contemporary doo doo. Still 4 stars because of the equipment that does work and the price point. The gym equivalent of back when you could get a McDouble for 1.39. Is it a 5 star meal? No. Is the price and protein worth it for the price? Absolutely. (RIP McDonalds dirty gains) CLOSING AT 8PM ON WEEKENDS IS RIDICULOUS

Fantastic experience: I recently started at this gym and from the beginning to now it went from nasty paper towels and water all over the floor at night to spotless, and I must say, the transformation in cleanliness is impressive! From what I've heard, even before I started I heard it was even worse, but now it's made quite the turn around. The night staff deserve major kudos; they're incredibly welcoming and friendly, making every visit enjoyable. It's refreshing to see a gym prioritize cleanliness and customer service like this one does. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: 4 out of 8 stair masters are broken, almost every treadmill is broken. I counted six broken machines on the gym floor without broken signs. Leg extension has been broken for over a month. No one does anything in here to up keep this gym, I don’t understand why I’m paying maintenance for a gym that doesn’t maintain anything. The managers will not give anyone the contact of the owner. No soap in the washrooms, no disinfectant in the spray bottles, the garbage bins are over flowing with trash. It used to be good, don’t know what happened. Maybe need someone who knows what they’re doing running this gym. I left for months in the winter due to no heat, came back to this. It’s unbelievable. I’m sure my post will be deleted just like everyone else’s reviews who complain about this place because they would rather lie and maintain a good reputation then facing the problems at hand.

Negative experience: There customer service is very bad, I wanted to change my plan but they said they’d call me back to lmk if I could. They never did, so I called and they couldn’t give me an answer. I also wanted to cancel my membership and they wanted me to go in person and I went, then they said it would get cancelled in a month so they can get another payment out of me. Scammers. Also people don’t clean machines after themselves, dumbbells are never in the right spot, machines are poorly placed and too squished together. With the new owners I expected better stuff. Nope, still a bad gym.

Negative experience: *** UPDATE MEMBERSHIP CANCELED FEBRUARY 1ST 2024. Last 2 months I have gotten a SPAM PROMO asking me to come back. If only they had put in the effort before, this REEKS OF DESPERATION FOR MEMBERSHIP!!! WILL I RETURN NOT A CHANCE!!! TAKE ME OFF YOUR MAILING LIST!!!***The heat has been broken there for a week (January 17th currently it is January 25th) and at one point the thermostat read 13.5 Workplace Occupational Health and Safety Legislation states indoor temps must be between 16-18 degrees. When asked using the same old line they use about everything regarding waiting on parts to fix it. (Which might be true but, when you have heard it so many times you doubt it like the story of the boy and the wolf) There have been numerous other issues regarding cleaning, lack of paper towels, toilet paper, soap etc., loss of hours (Website says 24hrs but, it hasn't been for awhile) loss of perks for having a "Vip Black Card" like guest passes and smoothies, which all add up to the reasons I am finally writing a review as it isn't one thing it is a lot and freezing while trying to do a workout is the 'icing' (pun intended) on the cake so to speak! It took awhile for there to be any notice of the issue on their Socials...so you'd show up and not know there was a issue before arriving not good for the sake of open communication which is key to maintain a good working relationship and customer/client trust. HONESTLY DO YOUR JOB SERVING YOUR MEMBERS BETTER!! (Especially those of us who are the Day 1's from when the gym opened in 2014). Currently looking for alternative options as getting tired of hearing excuses, broken equipment, broken promises and maintenance fees being paid when the facilities aren't maintained.

Negative experience: The filthiest most poorly run gym in Barrie. The new owners made big promises, but it was all talk. They are as bad or worse than the last owners. It certainly does not live up to the World Gym name. It’s a shame because it has the potential to be one of the best gyms in the city. The few staff they have couldn’t be bothered to put their phones down and get up to do something about it. They’re great at excuses though. Some of the garbage has been in the same place on the floor for weeks. The change rooms are just plain gross with no paper towels, a broken hand dryer, lights falling out of the ceiling, open plumbing, and usually no soap in the dispenser. The gym floor and equipment are filthy with hair and dust bunnies everywhere. They have a good amount of equipment but a lot of it is broken. It’s just sad.

Negative experience: Been a member for 3+ years. Used to be great. Showers are dirty quite often, the only private change room stall has had NO light for over 6 months now and the floor stinks, hand dryer’s been broken for probably a year, and I feel like I’ve won the lottery when I find a working treadmill that doesn’t feel like I’m running on pot holes. Machine selection and Mirrors throughout the gym are nice though. UPDATE: Still the dirtiest gym in Barrie but hey, we got the lightbulb fixed in the private change room.

Negative experience: It used to be a great 24-hour gym but now the hours vary depending on where you look (Instagram, Google, Facebook, etc.) It's 100% NOT a 24-hour gym despite but what the website currently says but still has good hours. I went at 8:30pm tonight and they were closed and I'm not sure why. It's decently priced at $27.64/month (after fees & taxes). It's big and has everything you need. It has an infamous reputation within Barrie for issues regarding cancelling memberships which has hopefully now been corrected by management. Unfortunately, it's gone through a few management changes with no real improvements so they'll need to focus on customer/membership experience to stay open in Barrie.

Cancelled my membership over 3 years ago only to now find out they sent my account to collections because the employee working at the time did not complete all steps to properly terminate membership.. Now dealing with debt collectors and no one wants to take accountability, or provide me with the accurate information to resolve this matter on my own

Negative experience: Trash. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Put simply: They violate Ontario law, which states that ALL contracts end after a MAXIMUM of one year, unless the gym gives written notice and a list of all changes in the contract. In all my years there, they never sent it to me once. Then, when I requested cancellation, they gave me the runaround and would not let me cancel it without walking in and cancelling it in person, which again is against Ontario law, since the contract is mandated to end automatically after each year. They then offered me the option to cancel in writing by printing a letter out and *mailing* it to them, which I did. They never responded.

Negative experience: Great location but even under new owners they really don't care about clients. Don't open on time and have less hours for people that want or need to be at gym in the mornings. I've seen new fees for new members. New members are better off going to better gym elsewhere.

Negative experience: I am the same Lakshay whose review was mentioned below. After reading that review, new manager got insecure that i might take her place and she laid off me mentioning that i use headphones and watch youtube ( actually coding lectures) which actually everyone does while sitting on a front desk when no-one is around. Best wishes to world gym and their members as she is good for you guys because she doesn’t care if you pay your fees or not , you are allowed in the gym. She even doesn’t know about pricing and sales. Hope history repeats ( you know what i am talking about)

Negative experience: Worst customer service ever. I was a faithful member for years. During covid stopped going - there was no way to cancel and I never got any message from anyone while they racked up my bill over 2 years without calling once because they “don’t do that” terrible business - don’t recommend! And if you have an issue good luck getting ahold of a manager!

Hello Brandon, We appreciate your feedback. However please take responsibility for your own actions in this matter. As outlined within your membership agreement (a legally binding contract) that not attending the gym does not absolve you of membership payments. Missed payments incurre a $35 NSF charge as outlined; which you agreed to upon signing the contract. We have continually sent emails to you regarding your missed payments to which you opened them and continued to ignore them. Management has reached out to you on business hours (9am-5pm) to which you were not available. You called the club at 7pm asking to speak to management to which you were informed that they were no longer available. Our manager had told one of the front desk employees who you spoke to that she would waive 30% of the balance to which you also refused to pay despite signing the agreement and being obligated to pay. We have tried to assist you in every way but you are refusing to settle the matter and instead choosing to post a poor review in order to cause deformation to this business. If you wish to resolve the issue management is available mo day-friday 9-5pm Thank you

Negative experience: ** Only changed from a 1 star to a 2 star because we don’t know how to reply to “the owners” response and maybe this will go right back to the top of the feed. Hopefully this does make it to the top so you have an opportunity to tell me how to cancel a membership when you’re closed for almost 4 months and no one’s allowed to go in? Last I checked that’s called stealing if you’re not giving us options on how else to cancel. Absolute garbage of a company and response Terrible communication. We tried canceling a membership over 2 years ago with all the phone calls from the gym saying that it was taken care of, when it wasn’t. Now they sent it to the creditors with once again no communication that they were doing this and now that’s resulted in a $2,444.96 bill. Avoid this place at all costs

Hey there Brian. We've been open numerous times through out the past 2 years. It is clearly outlined in the contract that we do not cancel memberships by phone. You also receive emails regarding past due payments which you refused to pay. We always Try to assist members prior to sending the balance to central credit. We tried to avoid this out come however you refused to abide by the contract you had signed.

Negative experience: If you get a membership here, make sure you're willing to commit FOR LIFE because they're never going to stop trying to take your money. I canceled my credit card and now they're sending me a monthly email asking for money.

Hello Mike, We unfortunately do not see a request for cancellation on file nor have we received paper mail or email inquiring about cancelation. AS OUTLINED in the membership agreement all cancelations are to be in the form of writing and with a signature whether that be canceling in person or by registered mail which you had agreed to do when signing the contract . Gym memberships are a legally binding contract; there for stopping payment with your credit card does not stop your membership. We suggest you get in touch with management during business hours Monday-friday 10-6pm to help your sort out this matter. Canceling is always straight forward. Please read your membership contract instead of leaving a bad review when you're at fault for your own lack or knowledge and negligence

Negative experience: Updating to 1 star after 4 months from my previous review: the exactly same machines that were out of order are still out of order and they never got fixed, even when that's the only machine of its type in the gym. That's a shame. Others recently became out of order, so I can only imagine it will also take months and months. Previous comment, when I gave it two stars: The location and staff are both good, the variety of equipment is great, but their current state is not good. Almost all the treadmills are broken, and some that are not "out of order" and worming have terrible mats, irregular. Some other equipments and machines also put of order forever and some of the ones that are working perfectly fine are with super old cushions, full of cracks and holes that are extremely uncomfortable. Also, there's not even body wash/soap in the washrooms if you want to take a shower after your workout.

Negative experience: This is a version of golds gym, great variety of equipment. If your working out for the day ( no membership)they will over charge you a crazy fee one day and no trial days either. The initiation fees are insane. You will end up paying 200 dollars before you even get your first workout.

Negative experience: AC has been broken for months and they don’t care. Poorly run gym that always over bills. So watch your billing every month.

Hey Chantelle. We're sorry you've had such a poor experience in our facility. We've had the A/C fixed several times this summer and unfortunately the part needed is on back order from the states. Regarding billing, we never over charge our monthly fees and our management team goes through debits/credit every month in order to ensure that no one is over billed on the 15th. In case of an over charge we are quick to correct it and offer a refund always.

Positive experience: Enjoy going to workout. Mirrors bathroom, treadmills are always filthy! Same stains as when I started working out there. The one personal trainer I couldn’t continue going to as he’d bring his gf to the gym when I trained saying if I’m here at this hr working out so should she! I was a sounding board about their relationship very awkward, after I stopped going to him for a month he continued to text me asking if I was defeated strange dude. Good gym for the cost I wish the Y was still open though

We have cleaners in morning-evening, 7 days a week and this is the first we've heard of this complaint. We have had alot of members complimenting the gym and its appearance. Negative experience: Was a member before pandemic and was hoping to return. Wasn't bad/wasn't great. Went in to the facility to inquire about any changes that may have happened since I've left. Couldn't get either girl at the counter to take the time to show me the gym and were not very helpful. Came home looked at the reviews and glad I didn't stay.

Negative experience: The staff are very pleasant and the gym is well equipped, but the payment system is not great. Is very easy to sign up, can be done online in a couple of minutes. Canceling the membership, however is not so simple. The gym itself is very nice. But the system it works upon, not so much.

Negative experience: Extremely hard to cancel, be aware. I am on a month to month membership. They had sent me an email with a form to fill out to cancel as it was during covid lockdown. The form does not open, I tried multiple pcs and phones. I replied back if there was any other form I could fill out as the one sent doesn't work. No response back at all, and still being charged every single month. Long time member as well since almost the opening of world gym barrie.....

Positive experience: Good gym. Good price. Not a fan of the CNC CNN playing in half the TVs. Apparently they can’t change the channel. Not fun seeing Trudeau on tv and all the liberal agendas being propagated when at the gym. Also, would be nice if they didn’t play music in the change rooms when trying to relax in the sauna. Not the cleanest place as I don’t think they ever clean the sauna. Decent but could be 4-5 stars if they fixed a few things. This is IMO

Positive experience: Decent gym. But lacks room. Lacks squat racks and more modern equipment to build lower body.

Hello Adrian thanks for taking your time to review our facility. We're going to have to disagree with you. We have 2300 sq ft with 3 squats racks, 3 legs press machines, 1 hack squat, 3 variant squat machines, 7 hamstring machines, 3 leg extension machines, 4 different calf machines and more than enough room to do barbell walking lunges. We have all brand new equipment or 1 generation from what the brands offer. We're not sure what it is you're looking for. We have competitive IFBB bodybuilders in this gym and competitive powerlifters who stay at the gym due to equipment we offer. P.S we also have a hip squat machine. We're always available to assist you with the use of equipment if you're unsure of how to use the equipment and finding it for you within the facility

Positive experience: It's one of the better gyms with a good assortment of equipment, and the annual fees are reasonable. Staff are pleasant and members are considerate when using the equipment. Two criticisms. Service your rowers properly and put them on a level surface. Fix the dip in the floor near the back of the gym.

Negative experience: Been a member since they first opened. Would not use this facility. Low ceilings and lower energy. Sauna’s still on 1st covid lockdown and hasn’t worked in 2 years... when you want to cancel your membership, good luck. All around thumbs down

Negative experience: Was in Barrie for a week for work, needed somewhere to work out, used to go to World Gym elsewhere and loved it. I call to ask about a day or week pass, spoke with a female staff member who said “yep day passes $15 and week passes $33”. I also asked if they had bumper plates, she said yes (they do not lol). Then when I get there later the same day, a male staff is at the desk. They say nope, no day or week passes. I said…. what? He calls his manager, who confirms no week passes, but they do have day passes, $10/day. I was like….. ok fine. The next day- I show up to work out, different guy at the counter, he says “day pass, sure! $15.” I was like ………. What? He assured me I didn’t know what I was talking about. Basically, train your staff, what a hassle. The gym itself is decent, though really not a great vibe overall (see pic - great way to insult multiple genders). If you’re looking for somewhere to work out for a week, it’s fine and the cheapest option, but get written confirmation of the price lol. If you’re looking for a new gym to go to regularly…. There are better options.

At the time we had an older employee who had just returned to work following the lock downs. They unfortunately weren't aware that some of our rates have changed. Negative experience: I used to love going there. Good old times. Management changed and now it’s been IMPOSSIBLE to get a simple piece of paper (year statement… how hard is that?) from the new manager Nicole, who clearly doesn’t want to do her job and would rather watch Netflix all day long I guess? I’ve been waiting for over 6 months, I called reception several times (reception staff was great on the other hand) and ended up cancelling my membership. Oh and reception also told me that another member spent months chasing that same manager for this exact same piece of paper. Very unprofessional lady. EDIT to World Gym answer: Clearly very dishonest answer from the gym. I did provide the right email address PLUS I emailed Nicole directly MANY times so she has my email address PLUS I used to receive your general communication emails. Time to hold yourself accountable and not hide behind childish excuses. To be professional is not a given and it’s especially true in your case.

It is not our responsibility to chase after members who do not provide the appropriate email in order to receive their yearly membership receipts. We would appreciate if you were honest in your assessment of our management. ** again we apologize that you didn't not receive the document that you had requested. You did speak to Nicole directly and you provided her with your email At the end of the year she gets alot of the same requests and has sent the documents out. Yours bounced back. Keep in mind we were also facing multiple shut downs. We apologize that you did not receive it as perhaps there was a miscommunication regarding the correct email. We try to help our members as best we can. Nicole had been working diligently on email requests during this time as I'm sure you can understand there were a lot considering the circumstances of the world.

Negative experience: Unfortunately I haven't had a pleasant experience here, so I have cancelled my membership. Great facility but lacks cleanliness and professionalism at the Management level.

Throughout the pandemic we have taken steps to maintain our club by giving our members their own sanitization bottles and clean cloth to disinfect their equipment before and after use. There is a cleaner on the floor constantly whipping down equipment, cleaning the change rooms/washroom facilities as well as the floors. We had public health in and we were given the thumbs up in regard to how we've maintained our club during his time. We have also provided shoe and coat racks at the font in order to avoid tracking in salt from the winter months. Management is always open to suggestions from our members. Take care

Negative experience: Terrible customer service. Management isn't good and lies. Update response * I canceled before the covid changes to cancelations and when I left the gym I was told my account was canceled. There was no communication with me until I reached out months later when the maintenance fee came out of my account. Again with the lies. Please tell me how you attempted to assist me multiple times? There was a phone call I made about the fee, front desk staff couldn't help me so I left a note for management. No call back. I emailed, the response was I owed over $100 and to pay it to cancel. I was told when I canceled I owed one monthly payment that would come out next month and that's it.

There was a note left on your account stating you were provided the appropriate email however you failed to reach out to us. Our club is 2,600 sq ft, in 2019 we added $100,000 of new gym equipment which is all then less than 8 years old. We're sorry that our club hasn't met your standards. However we believe we offer those most competitive rates to our members in Barrie.

Negative experience: I have to agree with the many people having payment and cancellation issues since the pandemic. They are making it very difficult to cancel and taking payments that they should not. Their request is that you cancel via registered mail but do not pick this mail up. Their choice of communication is through social media. Not very business like.

Hello Shannon, Thanks for taking the time to review our club. As per the membership agreement cancelation is to be made in person or via registered mail. When we were closed asked members who wished to cancel to do so by registered mail as outlined in the contract. Any member who brought in their registered mail slip when their mail had been returned we had refunded and honored the date on their slip as long as they did not have an outstanding balance on the account prior to the date sent. We encourage members to bring in non renewal document to the club so we can confirm that they are the owner of the account when canceling.

Negative experience: These people want me to pay $450 when I owe them $40 to an account that I try clossing since before the pandemic. I lost my job and could no long afford it. I reached out to them via phone, email,and in person and the owner or manager whoever she is wrote back threatening to send the account to Credit Control if I don't pay when clearly it's there fault.This is not the way to treat customer. Not professional. I Canceled it over the phone the same time I closed my bank account and I told them that but they don't care, this was in March. And when I came to the gym to have the account closed they said I can't do it. Always trying some shot to rip people off.

Hello Marissa, We saw that you had put a stop payment on your account dating back to July 2020 instead of coming into the club and closing the membership as a result bounced payments unfortunately accumulated $35 nsf charges. As per your membership agreement account balances are to be paid before canceling your membership.

Negative experience: You get what you pay for. I’ve been going to this gym for five years and though the staff changes often, one consistent remains: their terrible service. Last week I received an email about missed payments, so I called the gym to solve the problem. After a conversation with a rude front desk girl, I sent an email off to them, only to receive (days later) an impatient, unapologetic email from the manager. I sympathize with the manager as this must be a time when most people are confused about due payments. If I had to guess, the confusion would be due to lack of communication. The gym neglected to send out anything prior to or post closing and reopening. I would also guess that her inbox is flooded with irate and/or confused customers who don’t want to pay?? Nevertheless , it is her job to be kind and respectful to all, regardless of how she feels. I am not some hyped-up SJW nor have I (ever) written a bad review before, but this was the last straw. I would not recommend paying the low monthly fee because you will get what you pay for. I got what I paid for: tanning beds that don’t tan; a smell that never gets cleaned away; a continuous stream of ‘out of order’ equipment.

Hello L, Thanks for taking the time to review our club. I'm sorry that our services were not satisfactory to you. Regarding e-mails, we can appreciate everyone's frustration during this time, however we have received a large influx of e-mails and our management team was trying to get through them as quickly as possible. (As you can imagine people were already displeased). Regarding the tone of the e-mail and "kindness" of our manger, there is no way to interpret "Tone" through e-mail and texts, we apologize if you perceived our manger as being "cold" and or "Rude" Our management team is always available and willing to help our members with their account issues, and payments. As for closures and re-openings, we always send out e-mails regarding both to our active members, and it is always repeatedly posted on social media. We have done our best to inform everyone. Our equipment has been properly maintained and and useable since new management has taken over the club. There are some "out of order" signs on cardio equipment in order to enforce social distancing between our members.

I just wanted to inform you we had a public health officer come into our facility recently and he was really impressed with what we were doing. We have an appointment system in place in the case we are required to do contact tracing. EVERY member coming in gets their own spray bottle with a sanitization solution and a clean cloth to whipe down their equipment before and after use. We are diligently enforcing the Public health guidelines laid out to us by the health unit. We have a cleaner that is seen routinely moping floors and whipping down equipment. All of our members are wearing masks when they are not performing physical activity, in when in the change rooms. We also have staff monitoring the gym floor in order to enforce these policies. We understand some members have given us push back and do not like our new policies. As we care about our community and the safety of our members we make sure that these protocols are enforced.

Negative experience: AVOID THIS GYM!!! Tried to cancel right before the pandemic and did not receive any communication back until they had to shut down due to the pandemic, in which they used the excuse that they aren’t making any changes to customers account during this time. I’ve only attended this gym a handful of times due to the lack of professionalism, lack of cleanliness and overall uncomfortable atmosphere of the place. Here we are months after trying to cancel and I’m too afraid to try again after reading all of the reviews about additional charges or being sent to collections. I’ve been going to LA fitness for the same length of time and it is a far superior gym, 100% avoid this gym at all costs. I’m basically waiting for the place to close for good due to their terrible service and maybe then they will actually cancel my membership. Listen to your 70+ one star reviews world gym and do better!

Negative experience: Proceeded to cancel my membership in early to mid October went in, signed the paperwork. Early AM, minimal members present, reducing risk to myself and my family. Fast forward to late November. received emails for a missed payment, not worth the headache to fight it as it was near the one year contract time. That's fine, paid the NSF, and the two months? Thats minimal. Not worth the fight or headache at this point. I had emailed in after, asking why I was still paying even though I had thought it had been cancelled. Then I had received the response; "As per your signed contract agreement we do not accept cancellation by e-mail. Please send the form to the address stated on the form by registered mail. Account changes are made based on the date of postage." While I understand the fitness centers are being severely affected by COVID-19 and the ongoing lockdowns. Dragging out a cancellation forcing someone to go into a high exposure risk area (a post office, three days before christmas) is possibly the most ridiculous thing I have heard. Furthermore from what I have read in more reviews is that this is the norm for this facility.

Negative experience: Wont even let you in the doors outside of a time slot just to cancel your membership... even if you’re standing out front in the winter with a newborn. Great customer service Was finally informed that the next time slot was scheduled to start in less than 10 minutes but was still prohibited from coming in, then watched them open the doors 2 minutes early for the next time slot, so clearly the time slots don’t actually matter? What a joke.

Our members have access to the online portal to figure out when the next time slot is in, and no one is let in early as per our management team. In red zone there is a 10 person capacity limit. As for cancellations Members have been emailing or calling inquiring how to cancel and they are sent a non-renewal form, this has also been conveyed over and over again on our social media outlets. We can understand everyone's frustration at this time given the current circumstances.

Negative experience: Impossible to cancel a membership that was not ever used. I paid monthly dues (for my son) for a year and then requested to cancel since he moved out of Barrie. Requires you to jump through hoops, and then when you do jump through them, they don't follow through on their end. Had to send a registered letter (email not accepted) and then they left it sitting at the post office. They keep charging my card....will be speaking to my lawyer.

Negative experience: This gyms taken every opportunity during a pandemic to charge their clients more, whenever possible, using fine print tactics . The management and customer service is unfriendly and have dealt with the entire situation poorly. Although the gym is tidy- I can’t wait to finish my contract and will never go back again.

We informed you that your membership was still within a 1 year contract when you requested cancellation 6 months in. We informed you of the $100 buy out fee, in which you refused to pay and decided to keep your membership active. We do not use "Fine print tactics", the membership contract is given to the member to read through prior to signing up. It is all of one page and everything is outlined plainly. We have not once charged a member "more" money. Memberships work by paying a membership fee, we have even waived countless NSF charges for missed membership payments in order to better assist member during this time. Negative experience: DO NOT ATTEND THIS GYM THEY ARE NEGLIGENT AND THEIFS! After going to the gym through the Women and Children’s shelter for 1 yoga class, I had signed up, but did not give my banking info. Having left an abusive relationship that year, I dove fast into a deep depression and NEVER returned to World Gym. Fast forward to October 2020, a year and a half later, I received a phone call from a collection agency. World Gym sent me to collections without warning! They did not send me any emails or phone calls and I never changed any of my information. Upon calling in to find out what happened and asking for my contract, that I do not have, I was told there is nothing that World can do as it is sent to collections. I also made a review on Facebook and they lied on the public forum saying they tried to contact me for a year (complete lies!) and then they deleted their Facebook page... I asked to speak to a manager numerous times and have not heard anything back from anyone, even sent an email. World Gym in completely negligent and irresponsible in the way they handle their customers and business. Please save yourself the headaches that myself and others are going through and find a different gym to attend! World Gym shame on YOU!

Positive experience: Great job creating workout bubbles, keeping people apart. Only issue is no one wearing masks and ignoring social distancing. This could be enforced better. Clean and everything in good working condition. Would like to give 5 stars.

Positive experience: I've been a member with this gym for 2 years and I've never had an issue with them. The staff are always helpful and polite. Since the reopening this gym has stepped up their cleaning. I only had one issue with the woman's bathroom but upon speaking with management it was dealt with right away.

Negative experience: DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM!! THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY!! I put my membership on hold and was still charged for the month. Then I cancelled my membership and requested a refund. I never got that refund, and was also charged for another month after being told that no more fees would be taken from my account. This has happened to so many other members of the community... I have spoken to 6 other people that reported the same issue. It’s disgusting. Their customer service is horrible, and the front desk staff are incompetent and don’t know how to do their jobs. They are “locally owned and operated” but are taking advantage of people in their community and STEALING FROM THEM.

Negative experience: Cardio equipment is old and some treadmills are broken, internet works sporadically, overall the gym is dirty. After 2 months I end up cancelling my membership, I had to pay 100 as per the contract, but worth the money because I would have keep paying without using it anyway.

Negative experience: got a notice for an NSF payment. Which is funny because its on an active credit card with no balance owing. Got dinged for an NSF charge from the gym (my credit card had no issues, called company, gym f@#$ed up and was enteringthe wrong expiry) went to clarify. Still had to pay, gave some excuse that my cards expire date was 2017...it 2020, had no issues getting it up till today. So I canceled as they would not drop the NSF. But to cancel of course I had to pay the "missed payment", NSF AND an additional month... so I did... with the same card they said didn't work. Hope the $35 was worth losing a paying customer of 4-5 years.... oh well. Went from 5 star to 1 (zero if I could). Oh BTW, not impressed I'm paying full price for for a gym with no showers/lockers, sauna etc...

Negative experience: I was a member at world gym Barrie for over a year. In March of 2020 I tried to cancel my membership. They requested a form be filled and emailed in ([email protected]). As requested I filled the form and sent it in as a scan. I also paid a cancellation fee of $39.54 on March 16th as the "final" step" - or so I thought. I was then told that the email and form had been received on March 22nd ("Hi Bryson, Just saw you submitted the letter. Thank-you!" verbatim). Since this time, I have been charged monthly ($11.30) and my membership still has not been cancelled. I have sent multiple emails to Jessica (the supposed manager) and to [email protected]. When I was a patron at World Gym Barrie, I actually enjoyed the facility and the friendly staff members. But since trying to cancel my membership, I have encountered nothing but headaches from the team at world gym. As customers, we are willing to understand that during this uncertain time, daily tasks take longer and every day can be different. That being said, waiting months at a time to be responded to, while still being charged for a membership that was supposed to be cancelled in March, leaves an unsavoury taste in the mouth at best. I' sorry for the other patrons of this gym are going through very similar situations with the management here.

Negative experience: STAY AWAY! My credit card was charged FOUR times in July. I was told on July 23rd that it was a known error that occurred when they re-started billing after the covid closure and that it had "already been fixed". By August 4th I still hadn't received my $$ back so I called the gym. They assured me it would be credited that day (meaning I was lied to on the 23rd) and that I would see the refund on my card in 5-7 days. It's now August 18th and I still haven't got the money back.

Negative experience: When I first joined world gym a few years ago I paid app $100 dollars to join...I accepted the fee, the following month the double payment that happens twice a year came out of my account. I wasnt happy about it given that I just joined and paid a hefty fee to join. But I accepted their explanation and continued to be a member there. I dont find the staff particularly helpful or friendly, some I find very snotty. The staff walk around the gym without so much as a nod of acknowledgement to their regular patrons. What I find very disappointing is during the pandemic World Gym waited until they were mandated by the government to close, all other fitness facilities that I am aware of took the initiative to close on their own to protect the health of their staff and their members. World Gym still withdrew the monthly fee at that time. I can appreciate that with direct debits there wasn't time to stop the automatic withdrawals and accepted it. However what has me completely put off by World Gym is how 'greasy' they are. The facility hasnt even been reopened a week and they wasted no time withdrawing the monthly payment on July 21st. Instead of giving their members a credit for the month we all paid for when the facility was closed, I was told by a very snotty employee of world gym that that is the policy. I am sure a lot of worlds gyms members were without an income since the pandemic started and are only just getting back to work and the Gyms first priority is to make sure they get their money. That speaks volumes to their lack of ethics.

Negative experience: No one cares, l have been trying to get a hold of someone, anyone to no response, l have called, emailed, no one responds because l was moving and now moved and wanted to cancel my membership, don't join here they only want your money.

Please understand this is a very different time for many people and businesses as a lot of places are having to make adjustments to accomodate during the pandemic. Unfortunately there are no staff in the building regularly to answer phone calls, so e-mail is the best way to get ahold of us. Our emails are also checked and responded to weekly, so if your email was sent in this week, you will receive a response no later than tomorrow. We have limited hands assisting us with accounting matters, so it is taking a bit longer than it normally does to get back to members, however we ARE getting back to members. As of March 17th, 2020, all accounts had been put on-hold, and no charges are being attempted, so there wont be any billing attempts by the time your account is reviewed. We ask that our valued members be patient with us while we continue to accomodate during these temporary adjustments. Positive experience: Use to be a member since they open till like 2 years ago the reson for cancellation was the space was to small and when it hit peak times which is quite often for this place you can feel the heat off everyone which was gross due to the small space. Besides that decent gym overall
