Negative experience: So disappointed to drive all the way there for them to be closed !(when the website said they were open

Positive experience: Cold pool, ceiling flame retardant fluff falls into pool at times. Closed on sundays...really. staff are nice, gym has lots of equipment.

Positive experience: There's no ac, the signs outside are confusing, the facilities looked outdated for the day pass.

Negative experience: Very expensive for seniors

Fantastic experience: Working in town and was in desperate need of a good sauna. Heard from some locals that the one here was excellent. They were RIGHT! Hottest sauna I've used in a long time and great facility with friendly staff. It's a tad outdated, but it's well maintained and the shower temperature and pressure is top-notch. Will be going here again for sure.

Fantastic experience: We went to live theater in the Evergreen Theatre. Seats were comfortable and acoustics very good.

Negative experience: One of the stinkiest swimming pools I've ever encountered. It's almost like they're trying to save water and instead just fill the pool with pee on purpose.

Fantastic experience: Great recreational facility with 2 rinks , pool kid pool hot tub and gym. Facilities are clean and there’s a good concession to get tea and hot drinks for the arena. Make sure to bring blankets or large jackets if playing in the rink ( non arena side) as it is very cold

Negative experience: Apparently the schedule means nothing and the pool may be closed for private use at any time.

Fantastic experience: The Powell River Rec Plex, is a fantastic facility, that can be enjoyed alone or by the whole family. It features a pool with hot tub and sauna, that have different programs available to all age groups as well as public swim times daily. It usually has a few people attending but I've never found it to be too busy or crowded. It also has a gym with modern equipment and is available from early morning to late evening with a few programs offered at times as well, the only time I have ever found it really busy though is when the Powell River Kings hockey team were using it for training. There is also an ice rink and offers themed skates a few times throughout the winter, on top of the regular public skating times. One of the definite highlights of the Rec Plex though, is It's home to the Powell River Kings BCHL Junior A hockey team. Ticket prices are under $20 for adults, there is a fan shop to buy gear to support the team as well as a concession stand and beer garden available. It is a great way to get out of the house and spend an evening and be part of the community, and the quality of hockey is top tier junior hockey. I absolutely love the Rec Plex and personally made use of the gym, pool and sauna a few times and attended a few games while visiting Powell River in the past and was very impressed. So, I will definitely be going to the Rec Plex a lot more regularly now that I've moved here from Vancouver to take advantage of all they offer.

Fantastic experience: It's got everything you need! A gym, swimming pool, skating rink, hockey arena, yoga, and more! The receptionists are really friendly and the swimming pool is my most visited place in this recreational complex. One complaint, it's an old building yes but the roof over the swimming pool is starting to fall apart since it's only made of a hard foam material that has been rumored to knock you out. Other than that s.all complaint it is a very great recreational complex

Negative experience: Make sure you have all pieces of ID before going, even if you aren’t the one needing a wallet, otherwise you are turned away. Mediocre centre, need better upgrades in order to actually better suit the community’s needs. Some of the staff are amazing, others definitely should not be working in a customer based setting.

Positive experience: While I've always loved the pool, I prefer the rink, most of the time when I come in now it's at the request of my friends, and I have to book over a week in advance with them to even have a chance of getting in at the time I want.

Fantastic experience: They are doing the covid vaccinations here. My experience was awesome. Didn't hurt a bit, staff and volunteers were very kind and courteous. Went in, registered at the front desk, where they found me in the list. Went to the next desk where my paperwork was filled out. I was immediately directed into the area where they were giving shots, had to wait 10-15 seconds and then I was sat down and given my shot. Went to the waiting room and waited the 15 minutes and left. Super easy. Thank you.

Positive experience: The gym is too crowded with people who aren't there to even work out, just use their phones. lots of thievery too. the arena is the brunt end jokes around the BCHL but no tax base for a new arena.

Fantastic experience: The aquacize classes are great, the snack bar, Bite Club, has good food, and they host both PRISMA ( world class orchestra) and Kathmaumixw (international choral music festival), not to mention the hockey.
