Our comment from FitFit Canada about Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym:

Hub Climbing in Mississauga is a premier rock climbing facility that offers a safe and enjoyable experience for climbers of all levels, from complete beginners to experienced climbers. Users rave about the friendly and knowledgeable staff who provide excellent orientation and support, making even the most anxious first-timers feel at ease. The gym features a spacious design with diverse climbing options including bouldering, auto-belays, and rope climbing, along with a dedicated Adventure Hub for children. Many visitors highlight the cleanliness of the facility and the impressive variety of climbing routes available.

Positive aspects include:

  • Friendly and professional staff
  • Clean and spacious environment
  • Diverse climbing routes for all skill levels
  • Fun activities for children in the Adventure Hub
  • Regular updates to climbing holds and routes

However, some users have mentioned areas for improvement, such as inconsistent customer service experiences, lengthy waiver signing processes, and reports of unavailability of certain climbing walls due to renovations. Despite these concerns, the general consensus is that Hub Climbing is an excellent choice for a fun and active day out, particularly for families and newcomers to the sport.

Fantastic experience: great climbs, great staff, and friendly regulars.

Negative experience: Lots of walls and space but 0 interesting or memorable climbs. No sense of community. Hard to recommend this gym for people who climb, or for those who to get into the sport.

Fantastic experience: Came here with some friends for my first ever climbing/bouldering experience. I was very nervous since I'm not the best with heights . But the staff here were very kind and informative on how to safely climb and dismount if need be. I had a blast here and hope to give it another go sometime!

Fantastic experience: Visited from Edmonton, was looking for a bouldering gym and found this place as well. Lots of problems to work with, will definitely come back with my personal climbing shoes

Fantastic experience: Very nice indoor rock climbing place to spend the day with kids. Staffs are friendly. Training is easy, just go there early.

Positive experience: Climbed here a couple time. Lots of fun bouldering routes. Even when it's been busy we're able to find quiet areas to climb. The setters know what they're doing but the gym seriously needs to invest in more new holds.

Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym
Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym

Hi Arianne. Thanks for your feedback. As for holds we continually and regularly have new holds coming in and will continue to do so. Ask our setters to show you all the new holds if you would like more information. It may be hard to see them as the gym is large and they get spread.

Negative experience: so I went here with my friend who knows how to rock climb, and we were bouldering, all the climbs were super boring. The people who go here don't know how to rock climb, this is probably great if you are learning but not as an advanced climber. Gonna renew my up the block membership. Go to up the block wayy better!!

Negative experience: Not really sure why this gym has such a high rating. As an avid climber the only thing this gym is good for is birthday parties. I’ve been going to this gym for years and found out today they fired a bunch of my favourite staff. One of my favourite setters who btw had a WSIB claim and then they just fired him after that? I’m not really sure what’s going on maybe the gym is under new management but they have to get it together. None of the new staff know how to do anything and any time I have to do anything with my membership the new staff can never help me out. Not really sure who’s gonna help me in the future or if they’re gonna have to call the managers because they fired a bunch of the senior staff. Anyways, used to love this gym but now it just looks like it’s going into the dirt, might get a new membership but at the rate it’s going at it looks like they might be closing down any month now so I don’t know if it’s worth it

Fantastic experience: Been 4x- fantastic activity/place for kids. Consistently the staff very helpful and pleasant. Highly recommend taking kids here

Fantastic experience: Lots and lots of climbing options, parking can be packed in the evenings. Prices are reasonable, staff is amazing and kind. Beware there are a lot of kids and it gets annoying when they start climbing too close and swing side to side (only happens near auto-belay). Lots of challenging climbs :)

Fantastic experience: Hub is an amazing space and offers a safe experience and orientation into climbing from experienced climbers for both adults and children. Hub has everything you need from rope climbing, to auto-belays, and bouldering walls. There is also an obstacle style section for kids and adults in the same building called Adventure Hub. As a first time climber and someone who is afraid of heights, climbing has provided me with so much value! It is not just physically rewarding, but also both mentally and emotionally rewarding to acclimatize to heights I never thought I could get used to, and to accomplish getting to the top of a wall that I initially found challenging. My initial response was that it wasn’t for me, I couldn’t get past the fear, but I kept going. I’ve had some emotions on the wall, frustration at not getting a route to the top on the first go, and soreness I’ve never felt before which all dissipated after a few sessions, and it was all worth it. For those who are hesitant to climb, give it a shot not just once but a few times, then see how you feel. If you’re a parent, I’ve seen how kids conquer the wall and develop skills that help them off the wall. I am enjoying my climbing journey with Hub!

Negative experience: They removed my original review. This gym is my least favorite climbing gym ever. Staff are rude, bouldering setting isn't creative at all and bad. The vibes are very sad and unwelcoming. I feel I'm in a grocery store and not a climbing gym. Rope climbing at the pit has improved a lot and it seems the setters know what they're doing unlike the bouldering setting. Training area is very poor and lacking a lot.

Cory Sakai 6 months ago

Fantastic experience: Lots of climbing options in a nice huge facility. Bouldering, auto belaying, and lead climbing all available, but require different orientations and certifications. Lots of other training, conditioning, and warmup/recovery stations and equipment. Reasonable $40 for a day pass, but a month pass costs the same as 3 visits. Friendly and helpful staff. Free wifi. Proper water bottle filling station. Parking can be tight, especially since the lot is shared by the trampoline facility.

Fantastic experience: We had our son’s 7th birthday party here. It was a hit! All the kids had fun. We loved the new kids area. There are so many different types of climbing walls and features. My son’s favourite was the slide. Sooo fun! Or was amazing to see him gain confidence and climb higher and higher. After an hour of climbing, we went upstairs to our party room. We will be back for drop ins and I highly recommend this place to host your child’s next birthday party.

Negative experience: Staff unfriendly. Sets not the best. Manager banned me from membership for writing a bad review. Found that humorous as i don't plan to climb there anyways. Not a true climbing gym.

Hi Tyler, you were breaking safety protocols repeatedly. Safety is the absolute number one priority at our climbing gym and you left us no choice but to ban you as you refused to work with our team to get up to standard. We wish you all the best.

Negative experience: The workers here are not that helpful and friendly. We waited for so long at the check in. There was not other customers and so many workers walked around but no one came to help us check in. Finally there was one lady saw us from the office and asked one girl to help us check in. But the girl was not happy.

Fantastic experience: Had my 9 year old daughter’s birthday party at the Adventure Hub. It was great! Lots of fun walls and activities to try and the slide at the end was enjoyed by all! Staff were super helpful and involved during the entire time. Party room was set up by staff and spacious for about 13 kids and 6 adults. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Excellent climbing gym... probably the best one I've been to. Customer service was great (the staff were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful). The sheer volume of space and routes was a treat - there are so many options. I definitely look forward to returning!

Fantastic experience: Son very much enjoyed the Leviathon Program with Coach Liam and Coach Ethan. In a few weeks, he progressed in his climbing skills. In the program booklet, youth program climbers documented and reflected upon weekly climbing experiences. Facility is nice. Staff is friendly. Manager (Tay Peer) was great at responding to program inquiries. Check it out - You won't be disappointed!

Negative experience: I've been to most climbing gyms in the GTA over the past 2 decades and this is my least favorite. Its very adequate, but it has a lot of weird rules that other gyms don't have. For example, you can't boulder with your harness - really?? I've never seen that anywhere else. Kids have to be 16 to tie themselves up for top roping (ps. they can DRIVE at that age!). A bit much... The vibe/atmosphere is not as friendly as other gyms either. Good if you're a beginner and don't know any other places, but otherwise I avoid it, despite the fact that its the closest to my place.

Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym
Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym

Hi Julie, We are sorry to hear that you didn't have a positive experience at our facility. We'd love to have you come again to meet with you and try our facility once more. We have rules in place to avoid accidents. There have been situations in other climbing facilities where while bouldering in a harness a climber caught on the wall and ended up taking a fall in a compromised position. Imagine yourself jumping to a hold, and a loose part of your harness gets caught. And the bulky harness bits potentially making the fall more uncomfortable. Also, in case someone is spotting you, you're risking hurting their fingers if they get caught in your loops. There is no upside to it. We are not the only gym to ban this. If you have questions about our rules and thinking, please ask us we're happy to share. We are on the forefront of safety as it's better to prevent incidents than perform rescues. Thank you for providing your feedback, we look forward to hearing back from you, please reach out to us at [email protected] as we'd love to meet with you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.

Fantastic experience: Adventure Hub is a fantastic activity for kids. I highly recommend it. Even having watched the videos online I was surprised at how big the facility is and how much there is to do. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. My son loved it. As much fun as a theme park but less money and with exercise.

Duane Merritt 9 months ago

Fantastic experience: Cannot say enough good things about the facility and the staff. The experience was fun and exhilarating, but from the moment we walked in the desk and floor staff were engaged and attentive. My daughter can sometimes be hesitant to try new stuff but the staff were encouraging and enthusiastic which rubbed off on her. Will definitely return.

Fantastic experience: Had our girls end of year hockey party here and everything was great. Was a bit tricky getting it booked but once that was sorted it was great. Kids had a blast. They provided decent pizza which is always a plus and we were able to use the party room while the kids climbed which was nice. Would definitely have another group event or party here again!

Negative experience: Decent place. There are so many kids here and many many different waivers to sign if you have someone under 18. Check in and orientation process takes a bit long. Bouldering (which I came for) section is small bc the entire gym is mostly for rope climbing. The holds were very dirty—I understand theres lots of chalk but the holds literally had dirt; my fingers came off brown. I’d recommend going elsewhere if you’re only coming for bouldering. I believe it came to around $70 for two ppl (under 22) including shoe rentals.

Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym

Hi Vyan, Thank you for reaching out and sharing your visit with us! We tried giving you a call to chat more about the details of your review but were unable to get a hold of you. In regards to the waivers and paperwork, we’re sorry you aren’t able to sign on behalf of the minor that was with you on your visit last week; it is very important for parents to sign on behalf of their own children, regardless of who their supervisor is. We do our best to make this process as frictionless as possible for families by allowing these documents to be completed online and electronically sent to us avoiding many issues that would prohibit participation. I am a bit alarmed by your feedback regarding our bouldering section as Hub Mississauga has a rather large bouldering area that spans almost the entire perimeter of the gym. What gym might you be comparing us to? In addition to this, no one is allowed to climb with outdoor footwear so I’m concerned about how much physical dirt would be able to find its way onto the climbing wall; in fact, a different section of our boulders are set each week with the entire facility being reset over approximately a 4 week period. Between these times, all holds are thoroughly washed before being placed back on the wall. We have a large whiteboard posted by the front outlining the newest sections; would it have been possible you were climbing on the least-recent set? We invite you to revisit us on a Tuesday evening where you’ll be able to climb the newest boulders of the week. As for the children, on the date of your visit, there were a couple of Hub birthday parties happening and it was the case that you came on a day where there were an irregular number of climbers and parties in the facility, so we do understand that. Thanks again for providing us with your feedback! We look forward to hearing back from you. We left our number in the voicemail in hopes you’re able to call us back. Chat soon!

Positive experience: I’ve been at Hub for a while (since 2019) and recently fully switched to Boulderz Etobicoke. I’d say its a decent beginner/ intermediate gym, but for anyone trying to grow/ get more bang for their buck, I’d recommend going elsewhere. This location has an okay training area (ie. campus board, weights, a squat rack, elliptical, et cetera). In my opinion, they could make small improvements by adding rungs underneath the campus board (like Boulderz has), add various training equipment (ie. warm up bands, pinch training blocks (if I’m not mistaken they recently started to provide some), a belt to add weights to for weighted exercises, treadmill (they have one but it doesn’t work and just sits in the backroom), row machine, etc.). Unfortunately, this gym doesn’t have a kilter board (seems that most gyms have one nowadays (Steel Peak, Up The Bloc, Boulderz, Climbers Rock just to name a few)) they do have a moon board though. Seems like instead of making this location a place for climbing, they opted for building a kids playground (Adventure Hub) in the old beginners section and where the old birthday party rooms used to be. Not really sure if this was a good investment, as it doesn’t constantly run (but I could be totally wrong and which is why they are catering to kids/ families) (note they did increase their monthly price). If they want to appeal to climbers they should’ve put that money and space towards more climbing related things that will contribute to the CLIMBING gym and its members (ie. a kilter board, spray wall (they recently added this), traverse wall, et cetera). Regarding the setting, when the original head setter (Shawn) was there it was amazing. All the routes flowed and were extremely entertaining; the routes forced you to do intentional beta, forced specific movement, et cetera. Since I was last there, there were some routes that flowed well. Specifically, the setters with the initials JM, AT and HS. Regarding the bouldering, its okay, but I would rather go to Boulderz or UpTheBloc for bouldering. As I find the features of their walls kind of bland. This location seems really disorganized at times. They’ve been open since 2019? and they’re still going through growing pains from what I can tell. They only recently put up their pricing for items they sell in their makeshift store. Their social media presence was almost nonexistent (was poorly done) until recently. If you want to get your lead tag there it’ll be best to call in ahead of time as only certain people can lead certify people and they don’t always have someone on staff to test people. Regarding their pricing, I know hub recently increased their pricing… its ~$100 per month for a gym that’s still growing vs a gym like Boulderz ~$90/95 (for their gold membership). With Boulderz Gold membership, you can bring in a friend per month (irrespective if they have been to the gym/ location before, which is equal to like ~$25 ). Retrospectively to justify their price increase Hub has recently mentioned that they give you dual membership to their Markham location, but that doesn’t really justify the price point for a gym that’s under utilized/ still growing. Also, not to mention its on the other side of the gta. I would be more inclined to go to this location if they started making improvements (like getting a Kilter board to start). This is just my two cents, take it for what you will...

Fantastic experience: WHAT IF, hear me out we had some diff music - the music seems to get stuck in fallout boy all american rejects era for weeks at a time. Other climbing gyms do like instrumental stuff. Even some kpop would be great love it when you guys did that one time. Disney music also solid that one time. There was a NARUTO song recently that was hilarious but now its back to bside taylor TT_TT and I fear for the future. We need some bangers. ya know VARIETY just an idea.

Fantastic experience: We came here today for the first time and I loved it. First off, we were taken around for the orientation by Rhianna and she was sooo patient with us. I was literally panicking and she was incredibly gracious and waited almost ten minutes through my panicking haha. Secondly, the auto belaying thing felt so secure which I appreciate because that was my whole fear! Highly recommend! It's so fun.

Fantastic experience: Had a great time at Hub! First time climbing in many years and the staff shows you how to get setup with a small orientation. It’s super easy. Staff was very friendly and easy to talk to. Place is well kept and we went on a Friday night, which wasn’t excessively busy. Many walls have varying difficulties. It’s more of a workout than you’d expect for sure. Would be happy to come back!

Negative experience: I was extremely displeased that 5 of the auto belay devices were out of service. I specifically came to Hub to auto belay with a friend, since I knew there would be a good selection of auto belay climbs at her level; however, the majority of the easy climbs were not accessible. There was only one 5.3 and one 5.5 before jumping to 5.6 and above. The other 5.3, two 5.4s, and two 5.5s were “out of order”, with no auto belay device attached. The front desk staff were well aware that we were here to auto belay, that my friend was a new climber, and that I was not belay certified, yet we were only informed that most of the easy climbs were not available until after we had paid. There was no mention of these climbs being out of service on Hubs Instagram page.

Fantastic experience: Nice gym, great walls and awesome routes for beginners and intermediates, generally the experience with all staff has been great. Had and issue where staff didn’t inform of a 2 attempt limit on the lead test, was not stated on their pricing, nor verbally when checking out or anywhere in their waiver. The staff performing the lead test were friendly, knowledgeable and provided great feedback. After the second test they informed me that there’s a 2 test limit and I’d be required to take their course to be certified at the facility. I spoke to David about the omission in all points noted and they acknowledged it shouldn’t have been omitted but weren’t able to do anything. Update: Taylor, one of the managers followed up the next day and noted that they’ve made updates to address these issues. The gym is excellent, the staff are great, they promptly addressed these omissions and tried to make things right.

Fantastic experience: We did our son’s birthday party at adventure hub climbing. David from hub climbing coordinated with us from beginning till end and made sure the party and guests check in goes smooth. At all times, he was available to discuss over the phone or email, they answer on both. They provided waivers needed to be signed well in advance and can keep a track of how many guests have signed, to keep a track for big party. The staff is nice and friendly with kids and helpful. Overall, it was a wonderful experience at adventure hub and every kid thoroughly enjoyed climbing. Adventure hub has a separate front desk and separate climbing area than the main climbing, which makes it a perfect place for kids party.

Positive experience: is huge climbing gym and told me that there’s a new kid-friendly section that opened up. Hub Climbing boasts over 30,000 sq ft of roped climbing, speedwalls and bouldering. There are 2 types of climbing - autobelay (climbing with harness) and bouldering (lower walls, no harness). I took my kids to the Adventure Hub where they were harnessed in, and an employee helped them clip in and out of the autobelays (they need to be clipped in for each climb). Each section of the climbing wall had a different theme and bright colours - fossil climb, Tetris wall, circuit board, dual race up the wall, rope ladder and many more. I bought a 5 x 60min pass for $90 and at each visit, my kids can also do the giant slide and the giant jump as well. There’s also a fun AR wall where you can select the theme and difficulty of the climb. My kids were cautious at first, but they got the hang of it after a few climbs. They did really well for their first visit and I am hoping that their confidence increases over time. This is a fun alternative to an indoor play gym and I feel that it’s safer than a trampoline park. This climbing gym is massive and can accomplish novices to expert climbers. The staff is friendly and the place is clean (and yes they do have change rooms). They also have a location in Markham as well. 10/10 I highly recommend this place!

Fantastic experience: Took 8 & 12 year old boys here and they had so much fun. The only reason they stopped after 2 hours was because their hands got tired. Staff was great and there were plenty of options from auto belaying and bouldering to keep them interested. They want to come back again. If you will be bringing several kids be aware you will need to be an active participant in securing and removing them from auto belays.

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience each time at The Hub Climbing. The gym is huge and there are a lot of variety within climbs. There are plenty of climbs throughout the gym so you will always be working on something. Interesting routes and a super fun way to spend the day with friends! Fantastic experience: This was a fantastic experience! The front desk was very welcoming us and especially David was so attentive and accommodating during the entire climbing session. The height of the walls was impressive and I loved the theatre set up in front of the tallest walls. Who would have thought you could dig out a recess in the middle of the building to make the walls taller? It was an eye opening setup. Hub is spacious, lots of amazing climbing route for all levels of climbers. Kudos to the route-setters! But the most impressive thing is the staff who are so nice and friendly! Thank you for all the amazing memories.

Positive experience: The space itself is really fun. The walls are very inviting and the activities are fun. However the staff are honestly very rude and don't make the space welcoming at all. My son asked to leave after about 30 mins. He said the people working there were making him uncomfortable and he just couldn't enjoy himself.

Negative experience: The staff at this gym was incredibly rude and disrespectful to me. Just a week after my husband and I were charged for our monthly membership, two incredibly rude staff members approched us in front of everyone in the gym to remove my belay tag since according to them I wasn’t doing it properly and told me I could not ever belay again at the gym and could not ever get re certified. This was extremelly humiliating. We asked for a fee fund by email, and after a several weeks they only offer to refund us $5 (out of a $100 membership). BEWARE of paying a membership there as you can get your climbing privileges revoked right after you pay. I read your response, but your staff member told me, in front of my husband and the whole gym, that I could not be re tested and was permanently loosing my belaying privilege. Otherwise, I would have happily re trained. Your staff is incredibly rude, unkind and honestly, he bullied me and humiliated me. THAT’s why I left the gym, not because I refused to retrain. Also, right after this incident I contacted you, it took months for you to respond, and you only did after I left a bad review

Hello Vera, We are sad that you do not wish to work with us to improve your belay techniques so your partner can be safe. Your belay technique puts your partner at risk. We documented several attempts to assist you in correcting your belaying. In prior interactions, you have become hostile to staff rather than correcting and maintaining your belay technique to be at a standard of safety. As we had outlined in the email to you, we had to take away your belay privilege due to our insurance policy and you wished to cancel your membership at that point By the terms of the membership you have, there is actually no refund if you cancel the membership. Safety is the most important priority when climbing and belaying. Contrary to your review, at our facility, you are able to continue climbing, however, belaying would require you to be retested. We also attempted to give you a road back in to belay if you exhibited safe standard technique, with management writing to you that we would be happy to assist you on your next visit. We are saddened with how this has unfolded because a correction of technique would have resolved all of this.

Fantastic experience: My kids decided to explore CLIMBING for the first time – aged 8 & 11 years. I couldn’t have chosen a better place than HUB CLIMBING MISSISSAUGA. The staffs were friendly, supportive and shared all relevant information – filled up a Waiver as a Parent and also completed the ONLINE FACILITY INTRODUCTION. It is a fresh and fun activity for my kids who never did auto-belay climbing. We had initially plan for couple of hours and ended up being there for almost 4-5 hours (they could not stop talking about it for almost a week with their friends). Fantastic layouts, good difficultly levels, and an absolute gem in the Mississauga City for kids and adults who love climbing. Casual Climb, Auto-belays & Bouldering – Beginners to Advanced with properly fit harness and orientation, this facility at Mississauga is decently spacious, bright, clean and hygiene. It is such an inspiration for the kids to watch some real good, experienced climbers trying some real difficulty levels. ONE OF THE MUST VISIT PLACES FOR KIDS IN MISSISSAUGA! Definitely coming back soon.

Fantastic experience: Update: the owner contacted me and was apologetic over the Adventure Hub experience and offered a refund/credit after the fact, which is appreciated. He seemed receptive to the feedback as well and I hope some of it is implemented in the future. I've updated the rating and review with more context. I still don't think Adventure Hub is worth it but if you know what you're getting, you can at least make an informed decision, which was my frustration before. I went here just a few days ago for the first time. The gym itself is great. There are lots of top rope, auto belays and bouldering sections. The staff helped us get certified quick and get climbing. The pit and the dragon are definitely unique fun climbs that anyone in the GTA should visit once at least. Way taller than what I've seen elsewhere. I hope to go back there again soon. That said, I didn't feel the Adventure Hub was worth the price of admission for me. It would be great for children's parties (and there were a few happening when I was there) but as an adult climber with some experience, there are some things that could be improved. The area is small: what you see in the pictures on the website are the "highlights". I didn't watch any videos but my impression was that it was similar to Ninja Warrior but that's not the case. There are short novelty auto belays inside. Some of them are interesting climbs with rotating gears and different difficulty grades. You're also climbing with running shoes, not climbing shoes. I was told later it was because the manufacturer told the Hub that they would get black streaks so I guess not much to do about that easily. Running shoes though make for a worse climbing experience. In addition, they've taken out the waiver and introductory video and instead they have staff clip you in and out of the auto belays. This is not mentioned on the website. The fact you're certified with auto belay/top rope, even at this gym, doesn't apply. I get their reasoning that it's for insurance purposes. It makes sense for beginners or children but it's frustrating when you're already certified standing around waiting for someone. It would be a much better use of the limited staff resources to keep an eye on kids rather than on adults who know what they're doing.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic place to climb and bring your kids. My 11-year old daughter loves the weekly youth program, new Adventure Hub and we will soon be hosting her bday there. Highly recommend. Great facility, staff and service.

Negative experience: I believe its under new management along with the new renovation. I've been coming here since pre covid and its only gotten worse every few months. "Fitness, climbing and Yoga" says their sign but they reduced fitness equipment and dont even offer yoga. There are new staff every time im there and they are less friendly/ interactive, and more picky on small rules each time. Its slowly turing into a playground/ recreational activity area rather than a climbing gym, as rules seem to increase and routes seem to be less interesting to climb.

Parashar Patel 1 year ago

Negative experience: Time to start looking for a new rock climbing place because my recent experience was not what I was expecting. We had gotten my daughter and her friends together to go rock climbing as they have all had a busy summer. Anyways, we get there, my friend who is trying to get himself checked in already started to get a hard time, we pay and we get our kids saddled up and doing rock climbing. Now one should note that there was a big chunk of the gym that was not available to us as customers even though we paid to be able to use the entire gym. Our kids and us all walked through some pylons, not clearly understanding what they were doing there. Yes, we saw people were working there but to a normal person who doesn't go rock climbing every day, the pylons (WITHOUT ANY SIGN) can mean a lot of things. It can mean: a. Some custom rock climbing program is going on b. It could mean area is probably used by a private group for some special training c. it could mean some maintenance work is going on The possibilities are endless, as we were just walking past the pylons and almost out on the other end we start hearing the guys telling us please don't go through here or go from other side and to which myself and others with me voiced concerns on why they don't have the area closed completely and also PUT A SIGN up saying area closed or go from the other side. They have other pylons which have signs for other messages then why couldn't you have a sign stuck on a pylon. My personal discussion continues with David who seems to be the manager there and he continues to explain to me that pylons are everywhere even when you go out on a road construction and to which i replied "every road construction still has a sign or message telling the drivers what to do or be aware of", and the same applies here. I also pointed to the little queue barrier that they have in the front entrance and mentioned that they could use these as they block the path completely and are very obvious, to which David mentioned that he would have to order them and what not. They sell for $136 on Amazon and can get to him in 1 day so really. I mean in just 1 visit with 6 kids and each kid they charged $31.92 they made $200 from just this 1 group and you are telling me you can't get proper signange and crowd/queue control barriers. Another thing David also mentioned was that this was common in all rock climbing places where they close half of the area to make changes to the walls etc. What I as a consumer don't understand is that why are you making these changes during business hours when you have people and kids there for rock climbing, and what this also means is that although you are paying to use the entire facility you can only use a portion of it. I mean you were just chaning the rocks on the walls to a new pattern, it's not actually any construction you were doing. Regardless, it's clear this place is not the ideal place for myself and my group of friends. I think David and team should consider the following: 1. Get proper queue control stanchions 2. Have proper signage 3. Change the rock wall design formations after hours when no public is present 4. Have the right individuals work the front counters who know how to interact with the public/people who are from different backgrounds and cultures.

Hello Parashar Patel, this is the 3rd review from your group on the same matter today but yet noone from your group has tried to reached the ownership or even a manager to discuss the true situation cordially. Despite invitations on this platform to do so. Your collective reviews cherry pick items but you forgot in your review to mention that people in your group were SCREAMING at our staff who were **just doing their jobs to keep you and your children safe**. Abuse of our staff OR ANY STAFF is an important point to mention. This is not a side point and should not be omitted from your review. Also, every climbing gym has similar protocols about using pylons to keep people out of the areas our team is working to improve. My name is Steven, I am an owner here and you are welcome to email in, attention to me at [email protected] if you would like to have a cordial FAIR proper discussion of what happened. We are reasonable people but we won't be bullied. Otherwise, there are excellent nearby climbing gyms - you may have better luck there - but I would suggest you, Mo and Terence listen to staff when they have safety rules and dont yell at them when they are just doing their jobs.

Negative experience: Very disappointing experience at Hub Climbing. The front desk lady seemed completely clueless and rude, and the manager, David, didn't fare any better. It's clear that they have no idea how to provide decent customer service. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. When you have 4 seperate families complaining and nothing is done but to actually ask us to leave that is unacceptable. If you don’t know how to deal with people do not work as customer service.

Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym
Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym

Hi Mo this is absolutely not the kind of experience we want anyone to have. We have a record that four families came in and at one point walked past SAFETY pylons into a work at heights zone that our staff was using to maintain the facility (ladders and tools around), objected to the staff calling them back out and one of your group(Terrence Nei who also left a review on this) started screaming at staff at the top of his lungs until he was asked to leave. We work very hard to be a hospitable business but **safety is absolutely the first priority** and guests need to follow our staff instructions. Can you please be in touch with the owners by emailing [email protected] so we can understand more about what happened here? This is not a normal situation, it sounds like there was unnecessary escalation and that’s needed to be part of this review to be fully transparent with the public

Terence Nei 1 year ago

Negative experience: Our visit to Hub Climbing was a disastrous way to end the summer. Four families, including ours, decided to treat our kids to a climbing day before school began. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by terrible customer service and safety concerns. Firstly, the front desk girl was astonishingly rude, which set a bad tone from the beginning. What's worse, the manager, David, accused me of raising my voice at his staff but didn't make any effort to understand why all four families were upset with her. As if that wasn't enough, as we were leaving, a staff member yelled at my friend and me for walking through some pylons. We asked a simple question: why wasn't there a "do not walk" sign in front of the pylons? Their response was that pylons are there for a reason, claiming it's standard practice in all climbing gyms across the country and that we should have known better. When I raised my voice in frustration and asked them to improve their safety measures adding a "Do Not Enter" sign, David decided to kick me out of the facility instead of addressing our concerns. This experience was a complete disappointment, especially on what was meant to be a fun outing before school started for our kids. One star is overly generous for this lack of professionalism and disregard for customer safety.

Hi Terence I am an owner of Hub and thank you for the feedback. I’m very sorry to hear about your experience. I see from your photograph you just uploaded that there was route setting happening, and the pylons were set up to keep people away from ladders, tools, etc. You walked into a zone with pylons blocking it where you and your family could be unsafe. This is no reason to be kicked out as if this happens people simply walk back out of the area. There’s lots of fun to be had elsewhere in that facility. I see a note from the supervisor that you were screaming at our staff at the top of your lungs until they asked you to leave. This is not a normal situation. I would like to understand more of how things escalated - would you be willing to be in touch by emailing us at [email protected] attention directors?

Positive experience: Overall, a great gym for a casual climb. On weekends, it could get busy, but there is plenty of space. Unlike the Markham location, it is definitely less hectic and the environment is more controlled (rules enforced for safety). The colour grades are a bit soft but the routes are still fun. Staff are helpful and informative.

Negative experience: Terrible Place wouldn’t recommend We tried booking a birthday party for my sister but we got no helpful response. When you call them on the phone there is no one to answer the website is barely helpful and when you send them an email about birthday inquiries they tell you they don’t have anything available. We also tried going to the place and asking them there the receptionist wounds even give us a tour without signing a waiver and said we had to do everything online so not helpful and such a waste of time. Not yo mention the terrible feet smell when you walk in. This place makes its money off camp and not birthday parties and other things so unless you are in their camp program you won’t get much respect around here.

Positive experience: They are doing some renovation to the entrance area and the grinding and jacking noises are EXTREMELY loud. Can't be healthy for hearing. Also they construction workers were wearing masks while grinding and welding something and the smell was strong with no doors or windows to ventilate the gym. We enjoyed the climing but definitely a health hazard at this time with the dust, noise and fumes. I would wait until it's all done to revisit

Fantastic experience: The best and largest rock climbing gym in Canada! So many unique climbs to work on and they change very frequently so that every time you go, they're fresh and fun! The price is very reasonable, especially for a full day, and the ambience is lively with many eager climbers with varying skills.

Positive experience: This was a spacious gym with lots of options to boulder or top rope however compared to other gyms, this location is more expensive. As a new customer, most locations make it simple, you the waiver is at the computer followed by payment at counter but this spot makes you sign at the computer only to make you do a second waiver per person at the counter so it is quite a long process, overall it took us approximately 30 minutes to get going. Still a great gym but would hope they improve on having people sign less documents.

Fantastic experience: The Hub Mississauga is massive. My kids previously climbed at the Markham location, and spent the first 20 minutes checking out the walls and space with excitement and wonder. The staff were very helpful and informative in a way that considered their own individual sense of safety. My kids were engaged with the especially friendly staff member helping them with the safety training when we arrived. There are so many different varieties of routes to accommodate their skill. Of course one tried The Dragon, the other was too overwhelmed by it's immensity but came to cheer his younger sister on. The other climbers there were also encouraging despite not knowing us. The boldering wall has lots of neat holes to try. There is ample space to sit, snack and rest in this VERY clean gym. Staff kept the gym tidy, other climbers were very good about cleaning up after themselves. It was definately worth driving to the Mississauga location of the Hub. My kids can't wait to go again!

Sean Chin 1 year ago

Negative experience: Good for the casual drop in but bouldering areas are lacking. Gym definitely needs a bigger variety of holds to get people to renew their memberships. Other gyms like Up the Bloc, Boulderz, and Steel Peak have a large variety of holds/volumes that attract people to come back. The current holds are used repeatedly in each set or shared with the big walls. Another thing is that a big part of projecting problems is having a problem that excites you and having fun aesthetic holds to work with helps a lot with that. The training area could use a renovation too like Hub Markham. Campus board could use feet for warmups for example. No one uses the augmented wall and that space could be used for something else.

Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym
Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym

Hi Sean thank you for your review. We have purchased $60k of extra holds in the last year alone. We continue to buy more with similar large budgets. Wondering when you visited last and if you tried any of the lead, top rope or auto belay areas ? In any case we continue buying lots more holds and volumes. Our facility is two to three times bigger than some of the gyms you mentioned so it’s not an easy task to fill it out!

Fantastic experience: We went for the summer special one month pass for $69/person (2022), and if two come together then take $4 off. It was a really good deal Staff were overall nice and friendly l, except two small hiccups: - after our first month, we were considering to buy another month with the summer special deal, went to the counter to check and was told it’s okay to do so, but we didn’t pay immediately. Came back next day, went to the counter, trying to get it, and we were told by another staff that’s not allowed. Long story short, there was miscommunication and we ended up able to buy that second month. - also, for $4 off for when two come together, twice we bought the pass, they didn’t give us the discount until we asked for it. Otherwise, I do recommend going to hub climbing Mississauga. We did try the special deal for the lead climbing lesson when you buy the summer special pass, the instructor was really patient and friendly. Wish I remember his name Do lookout for the summer special pass!!

Hi Ben our insurance requires all people entering to sign a waiver. We have no choice on the matter. We try hard to make it clear on our website to everybody before arriving that a waiver is needed. Unfortunately you did not see that information before visiting and do not trust that our systems can store your waiver information safely. Ultimately we are sorry you chose not to enjoy climbing with us today. If you decide one day to entrust our process and store your waiver you are welcome to come back and we would love to show you around.

Negative experience: I came to the hub about a month ago and was not sure if I wanted to write a review because it was my first time rock climbing after the pandemic. I came around 2:45 pm on a Sunday and because there was a birthday party they asked us to wait until all the members were present. The only issue is that we were adults and the others were kids so we had to wait until everyone arrived. When we did this, we only got 2 hours to climb and I don’t feel like it was worth the money because we were charged a full days of climb. The front desk kept calling people to come help him but it really looked like there was a lack in staff/ workers. I then went to another climbing gym and didn’t have any of the issues mentioned. Want to let others know before choosing this gym.

Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym
Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym

Hi RS it sounds like you were a guest invited to someone's party and the party was late? What is outlined to people booking parties before they book any party is that we can't start a party until everyone arrives. I'm sorry for your frustration though. Also keep in mind a birthday party only has 90 minutes of climbing typically. It sounds like you wanted to climb more and enjoyed it but didn't get as much climbing in as you wanted. If this information is wrong and we totally misunderstood you can you please be in touch with us directly at [email protected] attention directors and we can understand more and see what we can do to help.

Positive experience: Great place to climb if you're a beginner and just starting out. Not as many dynamic boulders but variety is still plentiful. However, I would suggest getting a belay certification as they have removed most of their autobelays, which is why I'm giving 3 stars. Majority of their gym is belay so you need to get a certification, not great for beginners and not as inviting as it used to be.

Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym
Hub Climbing | Mississauga Rock Climbing Gym

Hello we are sincerely sorry we have not met your expectations but want to point out that For Autobelays please check the west side wall and the Learners area, as the autobelays are there. yes anyone who wants to progress in their climbing (not bouldering) should get a belay certificate, that is true. We offer special prices for members to get this.

Fantastic experience: Absolute amazing customer service. I was looking to buy climbing shoes, but both my first, second, third choice were sold out at the Markham location. I came to this location in hopes to find one, as the rental costs were adding up. Steven came to help me out, and happened to be one of the owners. He was incredibly nice and understanding, and waived my shoe rentals for 4 visits. He understood I wanted to save money from rental shoes, but had no option due to shortages. Thank you so much. I wish I could give an even higher rating.

J C (bSLT) 2 years ago

Positive experience: I love the layout and the routes they've set. Great variety for different styles and difficulty. However, I did notice a lack of assisting holds (grey handlebars) that other gyms provide for climbing down safely combined with high walls and stiff mats make for very uncomfortable landings even if you know how to break fall. Climbing down using the route sometimes felt harder than the climb up. I woke up feeling like my pelvis was in my chest the next morning. This would've been an easy 5/5 review otherwise.
