Negative experience: The pool family change rooms are very dirty and often wreak of urine and dirty diapers dumped on the floors. They really need to schedule a routine walk around and hose down the floors a few times a day. Just gross! Worst I’ve ever experienced in 50 years of going to swimming pools in Canada.

Fantastic experience: It's a great place to kick back,relax, and unwind after a hard or stressful day. Hotubs and sauna and steam room are perfect for that . Lots of great things for the kids , wave pool and a shallow pool for the littles and a deep pool with diving boards and a slide for the more older kids. I suggest this place for family to enjoy and spend quality time. Great workout gym upstairs.

Negative experience: Normally I wouldn’t do this but 2024 spring break was ridiculous. Going to complain to city also. As a life resident of Penticton this year was the worse. I took my grandkids to the pool during spring break. They had half the family pool closed for THEIR day camps and private swimming lessons. Not acceptable. Then they allowed caregivers to line up the wheel chairs all across from the river, eliminating more space. Wheel chairs do not belong in the pool. They shoved us all in a small area making having any fun almost impossible. The pool is for all of us. You are not allowed to close a public facility for your own needs. Not cool. This was the first year it was this bad and still charged us the same.

Positive experience: Nice gym for a rec-Center, 15$ for two people. Good selection of free weights with the odd broken machine. Over looking the pool area.

Positive experience: Great staff, easy parking, not too busy even during the busy times. The gym equipment is older and worn out, and sometimes broken. But still worth it compared to other gyms in the area for a drop-in.

Positive experience: Like the ambiance of this place as has that nice family pool feeling and prices are reasonable. However, there are issues that need addressing. We used the universal area and you lock the bathroom door and it pops open for some unknown reason. Only one regular bathroom and wheelchair bathroom in the area. There’s also only one small mirror with several people trying to use it. Lockers were also diificult to lock with coin usage but they do provide lockers that take your own lock which is really nice to have both options. Haven’t seen that at a pool before. The area is cleanly maintained. The hottub is nice overlooking glass doors to the outside and is nicely sculpted and spread out rather than just a big circle. The jets are excellent for a great massage. The steam rooms are hot and there are two which is nice as well. Showers are available adjacent to the hottub but they should mark the one which has ice cold water. Some little kid almost got doused until we warned him and when he touched the water he cringed. The one terrible issue is ignorant lifeguards in the pool area. Their women guards act like gustopo and are just plain rude like they are scolding you rather than just clarifying the rules. You can be pleasant and not obnoxious when speaking with people. And today was not the first time this has happened with their pool staff. Definitely need some customer service training. Hubby and I are seniors and they think it fine to behave disrespectfully like you are children. The management needs to counsel their staff on their behavior. Having these positions does not give you rights to be offensive. The hottub did have a fair bit of chlorine in it as our skin was burning after getting out. Pools compensate with less cleaning thru heavy use of chlorine which is unpleasant. Its a nice pool but definitely needs attention as indicated above.

Fantastic experience: Well this has been a hidden gem to me . Im so happy you're here. I did an hour of water exercise yesterday and bought a pass. I'm grateful for the cleanliness. A great pool!!

Positive experience: None of the rowing machines are in fully operable condition and all need to be serviced. The same goes for much of the other gym equipment which is generally quite old and poorly maintained.

Fantastic experience: Great community center! Clean pool and change rooms. There are many more things to do, weight room, gymnasium and multi-funtion rooms that can be rented for use.

Negative experience: Very expensive, especially when they close for two months. I use the pool and the gym. If it wasn't for the pool, I'll go somewhere else.

Negative experience: Equipment is outdated, but serves its purpose. Only 1 squat rack, and 1 bench rack. Only 3 barbells, one that has a heavy bend in it. They use wet wipes instead of rags and spray, wet wipe stations are out wipes 75% of the time. When equipment breaks in goes unfixed for 2+ months, regardless of how simple the fix is. There are much better options for gyms in penticton, however you do have access to a pool at this one.

I love the selection of pools, hot tub, steam room, sauna, slide, rope, lane swimming, outdoor sitting area to cool down , cold water standing fountain I just love our community center pool! Relaxing, fun, rejuvenating and great social meeting place

Fantastic experience: Had a great visit here. Went for a hot tub and steam. The hot tub was very nice. Had some serious jets that felt great on the lower back. Just power enough that you have to kinda brace yourself or they will push you off the bench. The steam room was also great. Once it got going had great steam and plenty hot enough. The facility is well maintained and clean. The staff is helpful and very friendly. Price for a drop is very affordable and building is modern and new. They do have a large swimming area and a slide for kids of all ages. Worth going to for a afternoon. Open 6am till 8pm during week and on weekends 10 till 3pm.

Positive experience: I do water therapy with a Kinesiologist at the pool. Great facility but it is a very long walk from the handicap parking spots to the change rooms.

Fantastic experience: A clean family oriented place with lots of activities that can be done with groups or on your own. There is a pool that is clean and well maintained as well as a gym and other venues. It does get pretty busy.

Negative experience: Way to expensive for what is offered, $104 for a month of the pool and fitness room is outrageous! Also there is no student rate, again ridiculous. The city of Penticton gouges anyone any which way they can. Kelowna community centre has a $28 monthly rate for the pool and fitness room combined, and their facility is way more modern so please explain the justification Penticton. These facilities are meant to better ones mental health but how is any one suppose to afford such high prices? Furthermore the summer hours again are ridiculous, the operation hours are cut short during summer time, which makes absolutely zero sense considering this is the time when people are out and about. Penticton does not support people’s wellness what so ever

Positive experience: Nice facility - helpful staff and patrons. Also, clean! Only used the pool - lots if staff who actually looked like they were guarding. Only complaint was that there were only two lanes available for laps - the schedule looked like there would be more. Will attempt going in the early morning next time.

Negative experience: The swimming lessons are impossible to book and advertising is only done on Facebook! Since when did Facebook become a legitimate business's primary means of advertising

Negative experience: The gym is very basic. Old equipment, some of the settings on the machines don't work. No real area for stretching on a mat. Very small and gets crowded easy.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful place to bring your kids honestly 1 of the biggest best pools I've been 2 in a long time with alot 2 do from the water slide to the 2 diving boards 1 which is a high diving board and they have a massive children's I hope to be back soon cause this place is awesome great job 5 stars all around

Positive experience: I have to agree that penticton's community center's pool is a wonderful place to lane swim. BUT, today I actually paid attention to how many women came out of the change room who had not showered. In a 30 minute time frame, 5 women going into the pool had not showered, yucky. After talking to staff at the front desk, I was told due to staff shortage this can not be enforced. Maybe when a person pays for their entry to the pool, the shower policy should be strongly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Visiting from SK; came for lane swim. Really like this pool. Online reservations were easy. Staff are excellent, explained COVID protocol clearly, masks required on pool deck & one person per lane. Change rooms are very large & clean. Lifeguards are very professional, always checking in on swimmers, answered my questions, so helpful! I think the COVID protocols at this pool are very good. In SK, we have crowded, small change rooms, up to 4 swimmers in one lane (circuit swimming), masks aren't worn on the pool deck...I honestly felt safer using the facilities in Penticton than in my hometown. Big kudos to the staff at this rec centre; although I am from out of town, you made me feel safe & welcome. Will visit again. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Pretty good. Change room can be crowded depending on time of day. DRY sauna, WET sauna, Hot tub, shallow warm pool, regular pool etc. Best to soak in hot tub then jump on the deep end of cold pool. That'll get yer blood pumpin!

With 2 pools, a hot tub, sauna, steamroom, and a large up to date gym there is something for everyone. They also have lots of unique programs and classes for the community for people of all ages. And that's not even mentioning the cleland theatre.
