Fantastic experience: I absolutely love Richmond Sports and Fitness! The variety of equipment is fantastic, and everything is well-maintained. The staff is friendly and always ready to assist. I also enjoy the basketball court and the sauna – perfect for relaxing after a workout. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: This is a very big gym and the staff is very professional which allows shy people like myself to enjoy my workout routine without having to worry about people staring at you while you workout.. This gym has all the workout equipments that you need which are also easy to use as well as a friendly staff to help out in your workout needs.. There is also sections for just women, the Sauna is great as well and the people here are very friendly and knowledgeable as well as helpful..
Fantastic experience: Gym is huge, staffs are very friendly, owner Chris is one of the kindest guy I have ever known ( His family is the kindest family in Canada ) . You just feel like you're home when you come here. We will be neighbors later on and I'll bring all my partners here to work out and exercise and stay healthy! thanks for the great work Chris!
Positive experience: RSF has been the nicest gym overall, BUT the cleanness has gone downhill the last six months. I've notified the staff at the front desk; not sure if that changed anything. Maybe gym members need to be reminded to help keeping the place tidy. Also it smells bad most days (especially in the hallways and stairways) and has gotten worse. Using essential oil diffuser or some sort to neutralize the stink would be an easy fix. Looking forward to improvements and i will come back and edit the review.
Positive experience: I really appreciate the great equipment and welcoming community at the gym. However, I wanted to share some feedback about the weekday cleaning staff that comes in at night. There have been instances where the staff member’s behaviour feels a bit off-putting. For one incident, I’ve seen him chatting with female gym-goers past closing in the women’s section but in different situations rushing other women out minutes before closing. Some members have also mentioned that his tone can come off as rude when letting people know the gym is closing. I understand the need to enforce closing times, but a more professional and kind approach would go a long way in maintaining the positive atmosphere RSF is known for.
Hi, Firstly I want to say thank you for the transparent review. It always great to hear members enjoy our equipment and the space we provide, as well as the community feel we have always strived to provide within Richmond. If your up for it, I'd like to talk to you a bit more about this incident on a call or via e-mail and please note this would all be fully confidential on my behalf to any of my staff or other members. Would it be possible to e-mail in to [email protected] to get a bit more detail so we can help resolve this issue so it doesn't happen in the future. All our members feedback is important to us and I'd be happy to listen to any details involving this particular incident to get a bit more knowledge first hand. I would just like a bit more context so we can assure you and other members are treated fairly upon our closing shift. We have already spoken to our staff about closing procedures and times since this review but to make sure all our members needs are met understood I'd like to just know a few more details on exactly what transpired that evening as we have evening cleaners that also come in prior to closing so this will allow us to focus on exactly what we can do to better your experience prior to closing for the evening.
Negative experience: I was never sent my contract for my 3 month membership due to staff entering the wrong email. Therefore, I did not know that there is a no refund policy. I wanted to cancel my membership because this gym does not live up to their chant " a judgment free zone". Both the women's and men's section's include other gym users who are obviously judgmental i.e. staring at you while you exercise. After speaking to the owner, Chris and explaining my reason for cancelling, he kept making excuses for his staff, saying that at the time of policy inception, they were following "procedure" because I pointed out that although the email was misspelled, a normal staff member would explain terms and conditions briefly for a new member. Anyways, Chris refunded me for 2 months of my 3 month membership, and took the admin fee. He also asked me to update my review or take down my negative review. While I appreciate the refund, I will not be returning to this gym. It is not worth for the price you pay, and Chris acted as if he is doing me a favour for comping his employee mistake. It is not my problem if staff are so amateur that they cannot spell an email (which mind you, is my first n last name spelled just like my drivers license, and I provided my ID LOL). I do not consider Chris refunding my unused portion as a favour because the gym does not live up to its advertised expectations. TLDR: Chris reached out to me to solve the issue. I am happy with the outcome, however do not consider it a "favour" and moreover the bare minimum. In the end, I am still not satisfied with this gym,/atmosphere/staff and will not be giving a higher rating because this is my honest review. Update 2: watch the owner try to cover up. I did not demand a full refund, and I mention I am happy with the outcome, however (very justifiably) do not consider it a favour. Further, don't expect a client to speak to staff, where after numerous attempts of doing so, is given the side eye/cold shoulder by your staff as I outlined in my call. This facility has pushed me seek other avenues of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The toxicity exhibited by grown adults as gym users is appalling, and other lower rating reviews have also said the same; re: bad customer service, uncomfortable environment and staff mistakes All in all, I have not written this review to create issues with the owner or gym itself. I hope that my review helps others considering using the gym, and all experiences are valid; whether good or bad.
Hi Laiba, I'm sorry you feel this way but this is completely different than what we spoke about. Firstly this gym is a judgment free zone and many of our members bring this up to us. We have a great facility and many women do appreciate the freedom of having their own large area full of equipment that they feel safe using. Secondly, when you signed up you had purchased a prepay 3 month pass. All these are prepays are non refundable and non transferable. You wanted to cancel a 3 month pass after only 1 month, and looking on you history visited the facility 14 times in that 1 month alone. I'd like to know how this service and our facility do not hold up... To me one would bring this up earlier if they were unsatisfied with the service at hand. Also, when signing up for this membership all these would have been stated with each signature (5 of them) outlining the fact that its a 3 month pass and these terms. They are clearly displayed next to where you sign and had you had any question would think to ask at the time before signing. I did apologized for the mistake of the spelling on your e-mail from my staff. Which are very competent but are also human and make mistakes. Perhaps mentioning earlier that this wasn't received could have led us to look into you account and resolve this error. You decided however just to complain about the staff, the facility, and me in this review when I feel as though it could have gone very differently. I also refunded you the difference (in which you had signed a contract stating this is the case in all our prepays) Please explain how a prepay membership of an allotted time would be able to be cancelled mid way through and expect a full refund.. I am very let down after reading this after our conversation and I personally took care of this for you. You will not find a better value in a gym in Richmond/Vancouver and and I will stand behind that. I wish you the best when it comes time to find your next gym. Your excuse to me was you wanted group fitness with your friends and sports. Your change of demand for a certain type of fitness should not reflect on my business and my staff as what RSF offers is none of which you described in this review.
Fantastic experience: I like the gym is clean and a lot of space
Fantastic experience: Personally as a woman I really enjoy the women's only section in the gym. It is open and spacious, Has everything I need and makes me motivated to come back. Parking is a bit of an issue if you are coming during peak hours, but other than that i'm happily paying for a gym that wouldn't scare a beginner off like me.
Fantastic experience: This is a huge gym. It doesn’t have the newest equipment but you can tell that everyone that goes to this gym is there to workout. Seeing how everyone is motivated it gets me motivated to workout hard to. I like that they have a women’s section too. The monthly fee is reasonable. There is a sauna that can be used and courts that can be rented for basketball. It’s a rustic gym with all the equipment you need.
Negative experience: I cancelled my membership over a year ago and a staff member confirmed I had in fact cancelled over the phone. I noticed on my credit card statement a year later that I was still being charged. After speaking with the owner about this I compromised to receive half of the funds back, but was told 1/4 is the best they could do. The owner deemed it to be my fault for not checking my card statement instead of it being the fault of the staff for forgetting to issue cancellation. I then asked the owner to email me a confirmation that the cancellation had in fact gone through and still have not received email confirmation that this is true. I do not recommend paying extra in membership fees because of incompetent staff.

Negative experience: My friends and I used to go here until a big man who wears a hoodie 24/7 kept starring at us and following us around the gym repeatedly. The man is obviously off his meds talking to himself and just being weird. We weren't the only ones that noticed. This isn't the first time someone has complained about him a staff member stated that they have had more than 9 complaints about the same guy, and yet the gym owners haven't done anything about it.
Positive experience: Great gym. Good environment. Except for staff switching up what they say and do. Saying one thing and then not allowing me into the gym because I did not have a physical bank card to pay for being 3 days over due membership. Total being $69? And a service charge for $23 that they are unable to waive. I tried to get in touch with management and spoke Nobody has been able to help me sign into my login online so I can pay online. Staff needs to be taught how to manage accounts better, speak to clients respectfully, and make them feel welcomed rather than not letting them enter for 3 days over due. Small things can be dealt with but leaving a stained impression on a consistent client will do you no good.

Positive experience: I generally like working out here, close to my office and they have good early and late weekday hours. Treadmills could use a refresh, and the amount of people taking selfies/filming content is annoying. I just want to work out and not be a part of someone's TikTok video, but it almost seems like this is the culture here. Steroid bros and social media booty-filming vibes, but maybe this is everywhere now. Weekend hours closing at 8pm seems to be quite early.
Positive experience: The basketball court and the people that play in it ruin the vibes, it’s so loud that even headphones don’t work, other than that it’s a decent gym

Negative experience: Weekend and holiday hours suck, sauna is usually gross, most of the equipment is old and in various states of disrepair and they have the most intentionally inconvenient cancelation process of any gym I’ve been to, and you can’t cancel without getting bent over for an extra month. I’d recommend world champions club if you’re in Richmond, way better hours and equipment.

I'm sorry you are unhappy with our weekend hours but we feel 7am-9pm on weekends gives most members the opportunity to use our facility according to their schedules and us as a facility time to sanitize and clean during the hours we are closed. We are also open all stat holidays except Christmas and New years day. I'm sorry about your experience with cancelling. Our cancellations are easy and we allow you to cancel in person with 30 days notice. This is very standard and we believe to be fair since we allow the use of the facility during the notice period as well if the minimum time for the contract has been met (9month of the 1 year contract) Please don't hesitate to e-mail us if there is anything we can do to help resolve the services we offer and to better understand this. Just as a note, the above gym mentioned is no longer in operation and many members have come to sign up with us and have been very happy with our services and facility.

Positive experience: Good gym, but weekend and holiday hours are horrible way too late. I work on the weekends and holidays and I can't get a workout in on those days because of the hours. They need to open a bit earlier on the weekends and holidays.
Hello Mike, Thank you for the feedback. We are open 4am-12am weekdays. We have weekend summer hours that we will be implementing in the upcoming months extending the hours to 10pm on the weekends. We are also looking into opening earlier on the weekends. We generally have shortened hours on holidays as staffing can be difficult with full time staff, however that is something we can look into in the future. Thank you, RSF

Fantastic experience: Absolutely phenominal facility. The employees there are super kind and the building has a wide selection of workout equipment. The people there are nice and accepting, I would reccomend this gym for beginners and professionals alike.
Fantastic experience: Great gym with everything you need, and multiple stations so there's less waiting for equipment. Reasonable membership pricing with short-term options instead of locking you in indefinitely. The facility is huge, open, bright and with high ceilings. They aren't too busy in the morning, but there is still enough equipment to go around during busier hours. Decent sized free parking lot as well.
Negative experience: I went here to rent and play basketball on December 30th and an incident happened where an individual's elbow caught me in the face and cut me right below the eyebrow. It was quite a serious injury and a lot of blood was left on the court. The staff did not care when told their was an individual on the court bleeding and it was a struggle to get a first aid kit that had nothing to help with the bleeding. I am disappointed that a gym facility had 0 staff on board to assist nor did they have any supplies to help. Overall, saw 0 staff come help and had to use paper towel before proceeding to the ER and ended with four stitches. Writing this review so hopefully they are more prepared for the next individual.

Positive experience: RSF has tons of equipment with alot of space. Even when it's busy I always get my workout in. Thanks guys.
Negative experience: Only open till 11pm, had to cancel my membership much better down the street at sports centre which is 24hrs
Hi S, Thank you for your review. To put some context to this review we have had our current hours since June 2020. We strive to offer a clean and sanitized facility and with 44 000 sq/ft of space much of our deep cleaning is done during the 5 hours we are closed each night. We find that for most patrons, our hours from 4:30am-11pm work for them. We are sorry these hours don't work with your schdule but hope you can understand the importance of sanitation in such a large facility and wish you the best of luck with your future fitness goals wherever they may lead you.

Negative experience: Having been a member of this gym for nearly 8 years, I've experienced its extensive facilities and diverse range of machines, making it one of Richmond's premier best gyms. Unfortunately, a recent downside has been the presence of high school kids. They often monopolize machines for extended periods, treating the gym more as a social hangout or a dating spot rather than a place for serious workouts. They hog the machine while texting, play games, and chatting. This behavior lacks respect for others' time, especially for those specially working professionals focused on serious workouts. In a crowded gym, it's a common consensus and courtesy to swiftly complete exercises and yield the equipment to the next person. Despite repeated requests to the staff, there has been no implementation of rules to address this issue. It's disheartening and inconsiderate. Many members share this sentiment, and I believe action should be taken to rectify this situation. My overall experience is marred by this ongoing concern, and I hope to see positive changes soon. Here, I would like to propose the following rules: Time Limits: Implement a time limit for machines use during peak hours. If someone is using a machine for an extended period without actively exercising, politely ask them to allow others to use the equipment. No Phone Zone: Establish designated areas within the gym where phone use, including texting or chatting, is not permitted. This encourages individuals to focus solely on their workouts. Courtesy Notices: Display signs or notices reminding gym-goers to limit phone use on machines during busy times and to be considerate of others waiting to use the equipment. Staff Intervention: Train staff to politely remind individuals using machines solely for texting or chatting to limit their time and be considerate of others waiting to use the equipment. Member Education: Educate gym members on proper gym etiquette through orientations, posters, or announcements, emphasizing the importance of sharing equipment during peak hours and discouraging extended non-exercise-related usage. Feedback Mechanism: Encourage gym members to report instances of equipment hogging or misuse to the staff, enabling swift action to maintain a respectful gym environment.

Fantastic experience: Clean, helpful staff, hospitality was very supportive. Unfortunately I don't recall the name of the lounge in the departure side. They a very disgruntled man causing a disturbance, they dismantle the situation with professionalism and respect. Way to go guys. Food and drinks were good.
Fantastic experience: Man I don't even know where to start with this one. Just take a look at the photos, there is four main sections and a boxing club in MMA and Jiu-Jitsu club I also think there's kickboxing there as well not totally sure about that because I'm not in combat sports. Call to find out about that stuff. But the gym is massive, tons of room, they have some decently sized tires to flip, probably in the 500 lb range if my estimate is in the ballpark. Great selection of pretty nice equipment, all the standard stuff plus some specific items like the reverse hyper, glute ham raise, all the racks you could ever need, really nice area for Oly lifting, Texas deadlift bar, bumpers for days etc. The sauna is pretty weak but that's literally the only thing that's left to be wanting for at this gym. From what I saw there isn't really any strongman equipment but there's another gym not too far away called The Jungle Gym by the Richmond Racket Club and that's where you could go for that stuff. Really good community though, sports rehab clinics. This one is a beauty place to go tear it up on Saturday (or any day really) Update; I've been dealing with a knee issue for a long time now (years) and this gym has a lot of really great, accommodating leg machines. The belt squat is a super nice piece too, pins for bands on the belt squat and hip thrust. The hip thrust alone has helped me put about an inch on my hips and it's hard to get heavy hip hinge work done with a buggered knee. Cambered bar is also just right for goodmornings, maybe a little shallow camber but still good. Special place in my heart this gym has.
Positive experience: This is one of the best gym's in the lower mainland in my opinion...the facility has a comprehensive offering of services and exercise areas. Regardless of what you're fitness goals are you can do it at R.S.F. the showers might be a little outdated but this gym is definitely worth the price of admission...get to R.S.F. on the double!

We do the best we can to ensure all members do their part in ensuring a safe and clean facility by providing towels and necessary cleaning supplies, however we are not able to monitor each member. We do have a warning system for not reracking equipment but that is only when we see it occur. If you witness this behavior again, please let our front desk staff or floor attendant know so we can address the person and the issue right away.
Positive experience: Great gym, just needs better AC. Has a load of amenities so it's worth the membership. They've got a basketball court, free weights, heavy bags, boxing room, indoor turf track.

Fantastic experience: Best staff, best space, best everything you could want in a gym. Not worth it to go anywhere else in the Richmond area. THIS IS THE GYM TO GO TO. The majority of members are awesome, there is so much space, the staff is 10/10. The equipment is well maintained and there's an abundance of equipment. Even during peak hours it's still tolerable and you're not waiting too long for a machine if you are even waiting at all. Truly the best gym I've ever been a member of.

Positive experience: RSF was very spacious and have every equipment you could possibly imagine. They have a lot of free weights and plates unlike other gyms. I would definitely consider coming to this gym if it wasnt like a sauna inside.
Negative experience: I drop by for some late night basketball everyone once a while, but they don’t seem to honour their hours anymore, turning off most of the lights more than 30 mins before closing.. Hello Li Chi, Thank you for stopping by our facility for some late night basketball. We begin turning off a few of the lights as a part of our closing process about 15 minutes prior to closing the gym to ensure everyone is out of the facility by the time we close. This lets our members know to slowly start finishing up so we don't have to go around giving out a warning that we are closing soon as most people wear headphones while in the facility. Thank you for the feedback and we will make sure we are only turning off a few of the lights no more than 15 min prior to closing to ensure we are still honoring our hours. Fantastic experience: The gym is huge with loads of different equipment to use. They recently opened up a whole new section that had two floors (sort of). There are also loads of free workout areas, so if you wanted to more specialized exercises there is space.
Fantastic experience: Good, large facility with lots of space and equipment. Unfortunately just like every gym it's hard to find a parking spot. But definitely more space, equipment and fitness options then most other gyms.

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym! Always clean. Great environment. Friendly & professional staff. Lots of space to work out and move around in - like, a lot. The gym is huge TBH. Tons of equipment, a functional training area, and pieces that you won't find at your typical commercial gym which are cool - like the pendulum squat, belt squat, iso lateral leg press, and lots of other unique hammer pieces.

Positive experience: Big spacious gym. Lots of equipment and space to workout. They were good through covid. You didn't have to book time slots or any of that nonsense like other gyms. I can't give 5 stars though because of the hours. Weekdays the gym opens at 5am, excellent. On the weekend they don't open till 8am. Now that other gyms are starting to back to regular hours, I might have to part ways. Shame because this is a good gym.
Hey Sam, Thanks for the review. We are happy you enjoy our facility but I just wanted to clarify with you a few things about our hours. We actually open weekdays at 4am and do not close until Midnight each weekday night. As well, our weekend hours are 7am open and we close at 9pm. We are also open stat holidays and display hours for those leading up to them. We are sorry these hours don't work for your schedule. We find these to be very accommodating to most members and because of the size of our facility, we require that time when we are closed to focus on sanitation to keep a clean and safe environment for all our members. We hope with this new information we are able to better accommodate your needs within our facility at RSF!
Negative experience: The place smelled bad and was very busy

Positive experience: I've been going to RSF for about three years now and I remember when it was 24/7! The hours and the women section are what really sold me on this place as I was looking at other gyms as well. But RSF just is such a great, chill place. Although prices have gone up a bit which is understandable, I wouldn't go anywhere else. UPDATED EDIT 2023: I don’t know if RSF bringing back the clock was in response to me editing my review to include how they took it away but i was pleasantly surprised when i noticed a few upgrades in the women’s section now which is very much appreciated 1- At first they took away the clock from the 2nd room but they put it back! Woohoo 2 - they added another fan! 3- new calf raise machine 3- new weight rack
Fantastic experience: Been going here for a little over a year. Excellent communication through the pandemic. Have always found the staff friendly and professional. Love how big the gym is. Very rare have to wait to use equipment. Fantastic value for what they offer.
Fantastic experience: Price is well worth what they offer, which is a gigantic rec centre style building with weight rooms, basketball courts and heavy bags.

Negative experience: Old equipment, not exactly clean, some attendants are rude and untrained with respect to providing customer service, always crowded, poor management regarding efficient and timely execution of COVID protocols and face covers. 2 ⭐️ for the quantity and variety of the equipments available in the facility.
Fantastic experience: The best adult playground around!
Negative experience: I agree with all the other negative reviews - bad customer service. POOR customer service from front desk staff and manager. Cancelled contract after one day of returning. Gym is good, just don't expect good customer service here. Staff does not seem to understand what that really entails. My situation got escalated to the manager but that was poorly handled as well. She was defensive, unapologetic, and biased. Maybe when a customer is giving valid feedback you should listen instead of saying "well what do you want me to do?" Extremely unprofessional.

Positive experience: Excellent when not busy, okay when busy. Plenty of machines, only 6 dedicated squat racks, which is fine when it’s not busy but a problem when it’s busy.

Fantastic experience: Covid-wise (since this is important nowadays): - Been to a few other gyms, I can say that RSF has kept a higher safety standard than the majority of the other gyms out there. It's also a very large facility, so it's not very often that you're scavenging for free equipment. Overall, The membership is very reasonably priced (~$30+? you'll see other gyms charge way more for far less). They have caring staff members, the facility has a large space, and it is classic gym set up. I have been to several other gyms in the Lower Mainland, and RSF really is hard to beat. It's a care-free gym, in a sense that you sign up and do your business -- no additional solicitations (ie repeated trainer consultations, text marketing, email marketing) that you normally experience in the majority of the other gyms out there. The main downside is that it's gotten very popular over the years, though they more than make up for it by maintaining a lot of equipment.

Fantastic experience: Staffs and patrons are very friendly. Masks are require even at cardio and almost everyone are doing it. Lots of spaces for everyone and 1 person per box outlined on the floor. Each person are given their own spray bottles so no need for extra run around. Staffs are always monitoring for violators of half-maskers and space invators. 75 mins for busy time and can go out and line up again if desire.
