Positive experience: Short visit, only needing shower facilities. Staff at the front were kind and informative. I'm the family change run, there are private shower stalls. While there apparently wasn't a rate for only shower use, the staff charged a student rate instead. Much appreciated for my 20 minute stay lol. Shower was clean, so was change room Will be back

Negative experience: Thursday night 430. Front man and woman extremely rude and kept giggling and staring my way. If I seemed out of place maybe some direction would have been nicer. Normally I’d let them know in person myself but I don’t want to embarrass my child.

Positive experience: Could you please add more indoor cycling machines with backrests? The ones without backrests are always empty, while the ones with backrests are always in use. And also, can you fix the step mill machine? only one machine is available. but, I like this place as it has good drop in classes and kind staffs

Positive experience: Great facility with lots of exercise equipment and spaces!

Negative experience: The wheelchairs available to transfer individuals in and out of the pool are both in terrible shape. There should be a proper transfer chair to make it more assessable

Positive experience: Staff is great. Pool is small and workout facility small compares to the other pool I town.

Negative experience: This pool is TOO COLD for baby swimming lessons- I wish I would have done them downtown instead! The instructor is good and fun and everything else is great (facilities are clean, hot tub is nice) but I had to leave halfway through class today because my baby was turning blue and crying (and she loves the water.) Every other parent in the class agrees. Older kids lessons are probably fine. PARENTS OF BABIES- book swimming lessons downtown instead!!

Positive experience: i only use the weights and the gym: weight room is fairly small, however generally well kept and equipment is above fair condition for a rec complex. kept clean and rarely have to run around looking for anything you need. gym was good but the floor is super slippery. wish there was some sort of A/C in the cardio and weightlifting area? if there is it barely works. wearing a t shirt and shorts and you sweat before you even finish your first set, a little ridiculous. would also like some better options for stretching, such as longer wooden sticks as for a taller person the ones provided dont work for my frame. changerooms feel like youre in a joker movie, but theyre well kept. lighting is very odd. staff were very helpful every time ive gone to them, gave exactly the information i needed and didnt waste my time. prices are beyond fair, especially like the ‘paid in full’ option. overall a good experience if youre trying to save ~$450 a year compared to a traditional gym like anytime. wish there was a smaller card i could attach to my keychain so i dont have time to have a debit card-sized way to scan in.

Negative experience: The young female at the front counter was rude and unfriendly. Also the family change rooms are small and do not have any change tables for young ones. The pool itself seems to be pretty decent, however the temperature of the water was FAR too cold and ucomfortable; especially for our 1 year old.

Positive experience: Great place to take my toddler for public swim

Negative experience: Pool hours are all over the place and it never seems to be open, even when you call to confirm ahead of time. The staff are pretty clueless most of the time to anything going on. I don't blame them though, they are just working minimum wage and there is just no management.

Negative experience: The pool has cooled down considerably over the past few months. As an older person, I hate being treated like an imbecile by the younger staff. When asking a simple question, I get either a 'deer in the headlight' look or an absolute look of horror, especially by certain lifeguards. Come YMCA, smarten up, I really thought you would do better than Recreation excellence.

Negative experience: For community facility they sure have short hours. Pay people more and you will not have staff shortages. Spend millions on the building but have them closed cause you have no staff. That so stupid.

Negative experience: 3 times I've called for hot tub times specifically and all 3ctimes I got there and it was the wrong time. The desk staff is not the least bit informed about where they work. Do better YMCA. Train your staff.....very dissapointed.

Negative experience: One of the people behind the desk was useless. English as a second language…I’m asking questions and I’m not being given an answer. Ugh Costumer service positions require you to understand people and be understood. Not impressed being told my daughter can’t go into the pool even though her two siblings are in the pool area waiting for the pool to be reopened….

Negative experience: Unfriendly, almost rude staff. For the gym - equipment in poor condition or broken, not cleaned properly, A/C doesn't work well if at all, TVs on the walls are gone and have never been replaced, no music - a really sad place. YMCA management has made NO DIFFERENCE.

Negative experience: Since the YMCA took over operations their schedule is all over the place. Once a week their pool is closed the whole day, so take a look at their schedule before you leave. There is almost no swimming lessons here which is unfortunate.

Negative experience: Trash now that YMCA runs it. Terrible hours , walked there today, so didn’t bring drivers license. They don’t allow you to go without a drivers license for some reason. Have never been required to bring one before.

Negative experience: Whats the point of having a rec centre if its never open. Horrible hours

Negative experience: Worst run public center I've ever seen. Almost no swim lessons, didn't have swim lessons for over a year. Staff won't return voicemails, website constantly crashes or just won't let you to the next screen. Terrible system

Negative experience: PARENTS!! Don’t let your kids alone in the changing rooms! Three weeks ago there was a MAN in the ladies changing room and a young girl was exposed to his nakedness JUST BECAUSE he says he is a woman!! I don’t have anything against ALL THE PEOPLE going to the public swimming pool but this is unacceptable! Maybe they should have their own changing room? ‍♀️

Negative experience: The pool is closed all day on Saturdays, with terrible hours on the days they decide to open. When are we going to get back to normal?

Negative experience: From outside looks good and clean, but… This pool works on weekends only 90 minutes… Two days when parents can take their kinds to spend time together it is closed… really disappointing!!!

Negative experience: Since the City of Chilliwack contracted it out to the Y.M.C.A., they have gone downhill, and staff have quit. Also, the Y.M.C.A. is "Woke".

Negative experience: Called ahead to check on the public swim times (15 mins ahead )and was told the time slot from 1-3 weekdays never fills up. Bring my kids down to find out tht the entire pool was setup for lane swimming and tht they were at full capacity ! There was 5 elderly people swimming laps and 4 moms with toddlers in the kid area. Pay your dam lifeguards so people might actually want to work there and you can accommodate more the 20 effin people. It use to be a great place to bring the kids, but it’s well worth drive to Abbotsford from now on. Update!!!! You’ll be glad to know this pool is closed every Saturday for the next 2 1/2 months man this place has gone down hill fast

Positive experience: Wish the schedules were accurate. Today discovering one on hand for The Landing that was supposed to be the latest but isn’t; online Cheam has an old schedule too. Frustrating! And, the partial and whole areas with their temp shut downs due to staff shortages needs to improve.

Positive experience: Facility is great, but public swim was from 6:30-8:30 and by 6:37 there was already a wait list. I've never encountered a waitlist at a rec centre, yet others have said it's very common.

Negative experience: Staff are good. But recreation excellence is awful. They never listen to customers very authoritative folks. Would be a 5 without them running the show.

Positive experience: I drop in here for $6.30 per visit to use the cardio equipment & the people are pleasant enough however while the treadmills & bikes work reasonably well the elliptical machines, of which I have tried four, are all the same brand & all work exactly the same; poorly! They all malfunction identically, pausing regularly for no reason, which of course throws off all the stats so I have to keep track of my time on my phone & everything else is hopeless, except heart rate which works but I can't attest to how reliable it is. I asked a staff member about this & was told that they are supposed to be getting new ones but no one knows when. One other thing I found out recently the hard way is that they close at 3pm on Saturdays, which I would have thought would have been the busiest day of the week for any Community Center?! Not only that, their pool is closed all day Saturdays, seems to me to be a very poor use of community money and resources. As far as I know this facility is funded by the City of Chilliwack, hence taxpayer money, feel free to correct me if I am wrong & I will change my review.....slightly

Negative experience: Worst experience ever trying to get in. Every evening they are at full capacity, people at front desk are more interested in having fun with the kids waiting around, then accomodating their patrons. On Wednesdays there is a swim club, people are coming with their kids who are aparently members of the swim club also, but no kids with the swimming club when inside, ut’s an adult only group. On Thursday got there at 6pm, register, waiting till after 7:15pm to get in, you’re told there are still other people waiting in front of you, but if you are friends with the staff people you just go in. DO NOT EVEN TRY TO GET IN IF YOU ARE NOT FRIENDS WITH THE ONES AT RECEPTION, NOT A CHANCE!!!

Fantastic experience: It wasn't too busy and kept the place clean. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.

Positive experience: Its been a great place for our weekly family swims. Family change rooms work fine. Floors get messy, but that’s public pools for you. Like the coin return lockers! Hot tub isn’t too hot for my kids, but hot enough it doesn’t feel like a kiddie pool. The have a hard time having enough lifeguards, so they can end up limiting the swimmer count drastically. Need to be there early enough or you may get turned away.

Negative experience: I called a day before I was gonna go and they told me the basketball court was open till they closed (at 3:00pm) our parents dropped us off and the staff said we couldn’t go in because it was closed and we were stuck outside in the rain, they should have better Communication on their website and with their staff. I love this place but I’m very disappointed.

Negative experience: Very poor line management - especially considering they have reduced availability for the pools.

Fantastic experience: This is a wonderful facility, very clean, very well maintained and the staff are very kind. I have been talk my family here and we all enjoy our visits. The change rooms are very well designed and easy to use. The pool is not really cold but if a little warmer it would be perfect.

Positive experience: The gym is small-medium sized but has all the equipment you could want and the pool is good as well. Has basketball courts, squash courts and outdoor playground Was kinda dumb that you couldn’t bring your own locks to the pool change room. They’re all $2 a use. Something needs to be done about that

Positive experience: The leisure Center is very clean but much smaller than downtown. It isn’t the best for young toddlers who aren’t very tall. Most places are .08 meters and above. You’re better off to go downtown

Positive experience: The pool is poorly managed. There are double wide lanes that are impossible to navigate. The number of children allowed in the pool made it impossible to swim

Fantastic experience: Excellent place to bring your family for a swim. Clean and friendly staff. Currently you can bring in your family for 45 min of water joy. Unfortunately, not longer due to COVID Restrictions. Hopefully, this will be extended soon :-) There is also a beautiful playground situated outside the center. Great place to come for picnic while your kids play !

Negative experience: Same thing as Jerome B. Left a message to book a swim lane. No call back. Showed up and they said did not receive any messages. Wouldn’t let me swim even with open lane. They need a better way to book swimming and gym.

Negative experience: I called to reserve a spot in the weight room, which you're required to do these days. I spoke to someone and was told that I had a spot reserved. When I showed up for the specified time, I found out that a spot hadn't been reserved! Their excuse...."well sometimes when we get busy we get the lifeguards to answer the phones, and they're not really trained on how to use the reservation system". haha..........ah, Cheam Centre, you never fail to disappoint.

Negative experience: Booked the gym for my daughters birthday, they canceled it with a weeks notice. Had to scramble to find a place. They only offer a 10% discount to reschedule. Also, they canceled my nieces birthday with 24 hours notice. Back to back weekends. Poor kids expecting a birthday party. Poor scheduling
