Fantastic experience: I did exercise with my daughter at Merivale Planet Fitness. She has a membership with can invite her family member whenever she go to there without another charge. It was good exercise for me and it is my first time use. I will go there again with my daughter. ^_^

Fantastic experience: Well organized. Fairly clean. Has everything you need in a gym and very easy on your wallet. So can't complain. Edit: I have been going to Planet Fitness for 5 months now, and I must say it is one of the best gyms I have ever joined. For $17 a month (after tax), open 24/7 for your convenience, with quality equipment you're not in a position to complain. However, my anger, disappointment and frustration goes to the members. Not to the staff or management. Planet Fitness is like a second home to me. It is my escape. It saddens me to see how men treat the washrooms. It is a huge inconvenience especially with a person like me dealing with a physical disability and that needs to give priority to hygiene. The problem isn't the staff; they are very friendly and very prompt at helping gym members and doing their cleaning cycles in a timely manner. Sadly the problem are the thoughtless, inconsiderate members. If your mindset is that somebody else will clean it, at the very least, take into consideration that someone might need to use the toilet after you. Planet Fitness is here to take care of you. For only $17 a month (not bi-weekly). Why can't you return the favor and take care of the gym as well. Why make the lives of the staff and other gym goers miserable ?

Fantastic experience: On this day, i went to train. Callee before hand, got to speak to a gentlement of the name Raimund. He gave me information, was patient, beautifull temper..i got to the gym and got to proceed, smoothly too. He is efficient at what he do. A raise would be great for such an employee. Positive experience: Staff members are always friendly and welcoming, providing you with their undivided attention to help you with all of your needs. Very affordable! Compared to all of the other gyms out there. The only reason for the 4 star, is that the tanning beds need a cleaning.

Fantastic experience: Best gym in the city. Best rates. Best equipment. All new and it’s never crowded because that place is huge. Friendly staff. Showers. Lots of parking. Fresh ventilation. Black card membership has a pile of massage chairs and beds, and Free tanning. For that feature alone it is worth the membership. I have another membership in Gatineau and i still keep this one since it’s so cheap and practical. If it wasn’t for this gym I’d be spending money on massages every single month. Check it out, you wont be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Review from a guy that has multiple gym memberships: Planet Fitness on Merivale is a really great place. It's extremely clean. It's aesthetically pleasing. And, the staff are wonderful. If you've never been to a gym before or you're nervous about signing up, I think this is an absolutely great place to sign up. The equipment is all in good condition. It's all very easy to use. And, you can pretty much work out any muscle group you want. Additionally, the value is insanely good. I pay $25/month, I great to bring a guest any time I want, I get to use the tanning beds, and the hydro massage chairs are pretty cool. Since they updated their equipment and moved stuff around, I think it's even better. They increased the Smith machines and put some new stuff that's really good for targeting specific muscle groups. Pros: - Clean - Cheap - Lots of machines - Great staff - Easy to use - Great location - I'm probably a "big guy" in this gym, whereas I probably wouldn't be a big guy in less casual gyms. The cons: - No real bench press or squat racks. - Limited equipment that experienced gym-goers might be looking for (but you can really make do. It's not a big deal). - Circuit area seems like a waste of space - Bathrooms are connected to change rooms and shower so it can be a little smelly I like all the staff here. I've dealt with Will specifically on a number of times, and he's a beauty. Really good employee. In fact, I've tried to poach him. Didn't work. Good on you, Planet Fitness.

Negative experience: I've been to this place earlier as a guest member and have had a really good and friendly experience. Went in with friends to have a look and sign up this time. They have equipped the place better than before but the staff's behaviour made us not sign up at the moment. Walked up to the enquiry desk to ask details, the employee just ignored us and went away to handle others who walked in after us although another employee was available. He came back and so impolitely handed over some piece of paper to read the details and walked off without saying a word. We had to wait for the other employee to ask further questions and see if we can have a tour of the facility. Then this employee, I remember her name as Jessica just asked us to sign up on the the tablet and walked away too. We were clueless whether to go in or just wait to hear back from her. It made us feel that they were biased in their behaviour with the guests as we saw them being more welcoming to other people who came after. Suitable for those who need a budget friendly place with poor customer service.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym (Merivale location) No judgement which I really like as not all of us care to be beside the guy dropping his weights. I find they keep it really clean and hopefully we are cleaning our machines after use. I find the staff great as well and the price is right especially for the black card. Good work PF.

Positive experience: It is what it is for the most part. Staff are nice and the place is clean, which is about all you can ask for at this price point. The clientele on the other hand leaves something to be desired. People rarely clean equipment, film in the changeroom, groups of teens horsing around. And the body odour of certain members is beyond horrific.

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible. Save your money. They will charge you fees, not notify you and add late fees onto that. The locker room was mostly broken and the staff are useless. Already spoke to management.... was given a response of "it's not our policy"

Positive experience: I’ve been going to this gym for the past year now and I have very few complaints. I go at 5:30am so it’s never busy when I’m working out which is great, it’s very clean and you regularly see the staff cleaning the gym also. The staff are very polite and friendly. One thing that I believe should be changed is the amount of treadmills and ellipticals. There are way to many which not even half are getting out to use. I’ve also gone at peak times like 4:30pm-5:30pm and still they’re fairly empty for the amount of people in the gym. Replacing some of the treadmills and elliptical for new weight equipment would be more ideal since those’s are what most people go on I’ve noticed. As well as adding open bar squat racks and bench press instead of all smith machines. Doing deadlifts aren’t to comfortable when you have no control on the movement. Overall it’s a great gym and the price is unbeatable. Especially the black card pass allowing you to bring someone with you(without a pass) for free every time. It’s not as fancy as movati of course but it’s everything you need to get a good workout in. I would recommend this gym to anyone

Fantastic experience: This is a a very clean gym and friendly, efficient staff willing to help. You can easily do strength training and cardio and it's at a good price and location easily accessible by public transit or car.

Negative experience: No a great place to workout, they don't allow you to use your own devices such as dumbbells and skip rope, it is a shiny place full of youngish people that fouls around all the time, better spend more and go for somewhere else!

Fantastic experience: I do frequent the Merivale pizza planet from time to time. Honestly for the price, it's not a bad option if you just want a nice pump. Good variety of machines. You can definitely build some muscle here but strength is limited. I try to go during off hours because there's alot of clueless teenagers that go there. But I don't even mind sometimes because it's free entertainment to see some of the dumb stuff they do.

Negative experience: I moved to different city and I want to cancel my membership FOR SOME REASON. They don't reply my mails and emails and they don't cancel it.

Positive experience: I have been going here for a while and you can't really beat the price for what you get. The equipment is basic but that makes sense for the price. I have found though that lifting has become extremely popular and the 4 smith machines they have are not nearly enough. The wait to use them on weekday evenings is getting really long and there is no universally-accepted system for who gets which machine, which creates some uncomfortable situations. And then once you get a machine, the plates may be half missing because other people took them. These issues just need to be managed better and it would help a lot if they just had more machines and more plates, since the demand is so high. Tried to send the feedback privately but couldn't find an email.

Fantastic experience: Planet Fitness is a fantastic gym. Staff, space, cleaning, equipment. It's a whole great experience. When covid hit, they stopped charging me without me asking. I appreciate this place a lot. The only thing I would love you guys to do is to have a closer gym to the Centretown area. I always have a hard time going daily. Otherwise 10/10 place

Fantastic experience: My go to gym. Cheaper than a the competition with basic package starting at like $15+tax. I pay around $30/month and get access to all the machines and shower stalls (included in all memberships) as well as "black card" exclusives like discounts on drinks, and access to massage chairs, beds, and tanning rooms. Staff is always super friendly, chatty, and helpful. It's a reasonably quiet environment and people don't really bother each other. It's definitely busy during the day though. Machines are clean, well maintained, and diverse. Wouldn't use any other gym.

Fantastic experience: Open 24 hours, friendly staff. Clean, plenty of space for everyone, section for weights, ample amount of different cardio machines, quick 30 min area & stretching area. All that for a small cost. The change rooms have lockers, showers and change room stalls. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I love the 24/7 service that they offer. My friend doesn't like people watching her work out and because of the black membership this girl can take me for free. Late at night nobody goes so the lunk alarm gets set off at a minimum. The people at the front desk were super chill and I would defenitly go back if my friend invites me.

Negative experience: Gym has gone way downhill since it first opened. Many machines are in disrepair, the televisions are frequently down, the paper towel dispensers are frequently empty (in the main room as well as in the girl’s bathroom), and the AC system is very poor, especially on the hot summer days when it matters. I’m often wondering why it’s so balmy inside. I doubt they clean their vents/ducts either. The Bells Corners location, although smaller, is much better. At least their AC works. Edit: Also, it’s been weeks (though this happens throughout the year), and their wi-fi still isn’t working. Burning through my data is now part of my regular gym routine.

Fantastic experience: The staff here are always super friendly and they make you feel at home. Especially Anuj at the front desk. Customer service is his first, middle and last name. Always eager and happy to help. Anuj has hit his ceiling in regards to customer service and deserves a promotion. Thanks my guy!

Fantastic experience: Been going here for past 6 weeks and I’m very impressed overall. Staff is very friendly and workout zone is generally clean. They have machines for all body parts. Although, they don’t have a dedicated deadlift zone/equipments. I usually visit in the morning and it’s not crowded but It gets very busy around the afternoon and evening time. The crowd meter in the mobile app is very handy for you to plan the workout. If a machine is broken/out of order, they usually repair it in one week. Overall, its great value for money and you’ll get way more than what you are paying for.

Positive experience: Not much to say, it's planet fitness. It's clean, great service and at times can become busy but hey, youre there for a reason. So put on your headphones and focus and say hi to ppl now and then.

Positive experience: This is a great gym- well set up- lots of equipment so you're not waiting- very clean - great hours so can go pretty much anytime. The staff were very helpful and really tried to make the experience positive - they work as. at team and communicate well to each other what they are doing so the customer is not caught in the middle - I have a chance to trial something while I was there and it was well communicated to the next staff coming in.

Negative experience: What type of gym is this, no weigh machine available Even after a year there is no weigh machine. There used to be one but since more than a year there is none

Positive experience: Great for beginners, if you are an expert lifter look elsewhere, 75 max dumbells and limited 45 plates, no free weights, only smith machines.

Positive experience: Some of the staff are horrible at keeping the cleaning stations stocked. Multiple times this week there was more than one station without paper towel and without cleaning spray - so a lot of people just weren’t cleaning the equipment after using it. Tonight there was 3 stations without paper towel. Really disappointing. They need to spend less time behind the counter and more time doing upkeep.

Negative experience: Worst customer service ever! I registered at this facility last year. During the registration, their system crashed at the final step, thus I needed to redo the whole process again. Since then, I am double-charged. I found out this issue last week, then I made a complaint to one of their staff and he said he could not resolve it by himself. I came to their facility the next day at noon, wait for their manager for 20 minutes even though the guy told me to come between 10 am - 4 pm. Finally, the manager showed up, asked me a few questions and cancelled my membership per my requests. However, I did not received any apology from them. Bottom line, please read my comments and re-consider if you want to register this facility. Updated! I have not received my refund yet although the manager told me that it should be within 10-15 days. I call them today and they have no clue. They said the manager will call me back. Nice job! Again terrible customer service....

Negative experience: to not allow cancelation of membership done over the phone (only in person or mail a letter) is bad corporate policy and manipulative. Strategically putting up barriers to cancel membership in hopes members delay decision or forget completely is poor judgement

Negative experience: While I was working out there was a customer projectile spitting into the garbage cans after each set (he had done this on multiple occasions). I’m talking 5 feet away from the can in front of people. This was at the height of the pandemic too. I told the staff about my concerns and they were too scared to confront the guy. I cancelled and built a home gym

Negative experience: One of the employees consistently wears her mask incorrectly (nose exposed.) She is clearly not concerned with the health and safety of patrons.

Negative experience: Don't waste your money, go to literally any other gym. Just pathetic, it doesn't even have squat racks, just smith machines. After trying to cancel my membership, I realizd PF was still withdrawing from my account. Upon going to the gym to have it cancelled, I was told they would call me back. Over a week later and they never called. Extremely dissapointed and frustrated. Shame.

Negative experience: Sad. @Merivale, Nobody will ever answer your calls, ever. Their voicemail is always full. You can desperately call every day but sorry they're not available. Meanwhile, the front desk always have more than 1 employee. Truly, this should be aTime to be there for your customers. Do you have a special extension number?

Negative experience: Post covid cleanliness is at absolute worst here. The employees are not concerned about cleaning the exercise stations at all. I was doing my exercise at 30 min leg press and i noticed the water bottle sitting there for past three days. People don’t wear masks at all and none of the employees is concerned about it. It used to be the best and now it gone to become absolute worst. Zero covid regulations are being followed here.

Positive experience: Great price, great hours and typically not too busy. The only reason I'm going 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of a squat rack. They have Smith machines but no squat rack. I understand it's to discourage the bodybuilding types but even then squat racks are a fantastic piece of equipment even for beginners. And for a judgment free space they do seem a little judgemental of the bodybuilding types

Positive experience: I've never been to a Planet Fitness before today so I truly didn't know what to expect. The gym is surprisingly big and fairly well equipped. HOWEVER, there are virtually no free weights to speak of other than dumbbells up to 80lbs and some plates for their squate rack machine and leg press, no barbells for deadlifts or bench pressing. And the staff, while helpful, we're very quiet when answering questions and felt a little unfriendly/unapproachable. That could very well, however, have been my own interpretation of how my interaction with them went. In summary, if you're new to working out or nervous/intimidated of going to the gym, then this gym is a good place to start off, especially since the cost is rather low. However, if your an experienced weight lifter, you will most likely find this gym as lacking/restrictive in the types of workouts you wish to do, like I did. In which case, a more intermediate gym like GoodLife is likely your best bet.

Negative experience: The Gym is well located, well equipped and the staff is friendly. But unfortunately It is very difficult to cancel a membership. Since the place is closed I only have the option to send a registered mail to request a cancelation! I feel we are we in 90's... Also I need to call sometime later to confirm they actually cancelled my membership. I do understand this is not location specific issue once any Planet Fitness Gym in the chain will follow the same procedure. It is just incomprehensible specially during COVID.

Negative experience: I am a member of the gym currently and due to some reasons I froze my membership for 3 months on February 21. The person who assisted me ensured that I do not need to worry and that I will not be charged for these 3 months and so I was relieved. But yesterday I saw that I was being charged and I called them to check about the issue. They said they might have some technical issue at their side and after freezing my account the employee might have instantly unfreeze my account which was the reason of me being charged. I told them that if I had known that I was being charged I would have visited atleast once a week. I asked for a refund, to which the person said that they will check the issue and call me back. I am still waiting and they never called me back. I was being charged for a month which I was completely assured I won't. I will not recommend this place.

Negative experience: Customer service/management is extremely unprofessional and not helpful whatsoever. Being an office manager myself, it’s so extremely frustrating because I deal with customer complaints all of the time in my own job and it’s important to go above and beyond to help with what the customer needs, and to be understanding and helpful. It’s impossible to find someone in a management position who is able to properly handle a guests’ needs. I was sent to the “billing department” by the store manager for an issue that she refused to help me with, and the billing department told me that the store manager is the only one who could help me with my issue. I do not recommend this gym to anyone.

Negative experience: Well now that you have to book your time this gym is not worth it. back to good life for me where there is more free wight equipment and a jacobs ladder.

Negative experience: Customer service is dead at this planet fitness. Booked a workout time two days in advance (book any later and the spots fill up), booked my appointment online and my guest by phone (can't book guests online). Arrive yesterday for my 7:30-9:00 work out time, told I am more than 15 minutes late (its 7:50) and I cant work out. Told to leave. Nowhere on their website, on the app, even when I called to book the appointment does it say you have to be there between 7:30 and 7:45. Its a policy you can only find out about when you breach it. Here's a free lesson in customer service; this is the proper way to respond planet fitness: "I'm sorry about this. Its our fault. We should be posting our policy on the website and our app and should have told you when you called to book the appointment. We are at capacity but as soon as two people leave, you can go in and work out".

Negative experience: Go somewhere else. I tried to explain to the agent many timed that I want a refund for the yearly fee because I had covid 2 weeks ago (when everything opened in Ottawa) and I wasnt able to go to the location and she refused. I asked « Nikki » many times to provide me with an email or the contact of her upper or anyone I could talk to to explain my situation and she said She is the top person I can talk to? Excuse me We live in a very frustrating situation and we’re been in it for months. I have lost my job and I explained that I cannot afford the 44$ and I ddnt even step in the gym since everything open 2 weeks ago or even since December 202! Its March 5th now. I would never go to that gym again never. Plant Fitness shame on you. I will make sure to share this with everyone even with the local news! Shame on you

Negative experience: Hey there, I don't know what to say, but I'm paying for the black card membership to have the massage but your employer said that I can't use my card Features because the time of the class ended. If I can't use it after my workout when I'm going to use it. Like come on, you guys better than that.

Negative experience: I joined in December 2020. When I joined planet fitness, the receptionist told me that I will get charged $15.95 for a month, and I can cancel anytime. I specifically asked that if there is any membership fee associated with that, he/she said that there is not any membership fee or any further additional charge. Today, at 3rd March, 2021, when I saw my bank account, I saw that there was a deduction of $44.07. I called them and asked them about the charge as to why this came up. They now tell me that this is a maintenance fee that is charged after 2 months of you join. Well, money is not a problem, but lack of proper communication is, and on top of that, poor business ethics are a problem. They are calling membership fee as a maintenance fee, and which I was never informed. The manager said that they have mailed me with the regulations, which shows the maintenance fee. C'mon man, give me a break! who reads the enrollment for gym email in that depth? I like that gym, but I will give a 1 star due to poor business ethics.

Negative experience: I wish I could rate this place a zero. Terrible experience ever. I was told that security will be called on me as if I was doing a crime but the only thing was I was late. It was such a bad experience. The way the staff dealt with me was so unpleasant. Person named Josh was very very unprofessional. Will not recommend this place to anyone.

Negative experience: I wish I could rate a zero star to this place. I had the worst experience ever at this location. I booked an appointment at this place yesterday and I was late by 15 minutes and I was not allowed to go in. Keeping in mind, I had an Appointment from 9 pm to 10.30 pm. Not a lot of people take their whole 1 and a half hour in the gym. As long as I have an appointment I should've been let in. When we were there, some people left the gym at that time, which means there was place for people in the gym to be able to go in but still we were not let in. I do understand I was late by 15 minutes but the way I was spoken to was not pleasant. The manager named JOSH asked the girl at the door to tell us that Security will be called upon us if we don't leave right now. It felt like we were doing a crime. WORST, WORST, WORST Place ever.

Negative experience: They haven’t picked up a single one of my calls since they opened on feb16. I cant book an appointment without calling, and the website doesnt work either.
