Positive experience: I've been going here for three years (it's the first gym I've ever been to). The staff are always super friendly and helpful. The gym is pretty chill during the day or early morning (don't go from 5 pm onwards it's overcrowded lol). Overall, it's a solid gym.

Negative experience: I used to love this gym, but unfortunately, I have to drop my rating to 2 stars. The sauna has been out of service for two months now, which is really disappointing since it was a big part of why I joined. The gym itself is clean, and the staff is super friendly, which I appreciate. However, the ongoing issue with the sauna has taken away from the overall experience, and I'm hoping it gets resolved soon.

Negative experience: Sanitation stations always empty. No one cleans overnight. The gym is dirty every morning. Machines not being maintained. Management needs to do better.

Negative experience: The men's sauna has been out of Service for months, when it was working it was out every few days. I travel and visit several different locations, this place has the worst sauna and maintenance. They seem to absolutely not care. The only reason I keep the LA fitness membership is for the sauna otherwise there are plenty of lower costing gyms with better weights and equipment.

Negative experience: If there was a review -50 I would surely and gladly give it Been applying and waiting for the refund update since July 2024 and still waiting Seems their headquarters which is supposed to do everything is on sleep mode and staff here is on how to get away mode. Last thing only is to find a lawyer and file for an appropriate compensation Hope they will wake up and get the refund processed asap Guys wish to take trial class- do not do not get pressed or influenced in joining this gym. It’s terrible service I am just really really frustrated with this kind of bs services This place sucks. Every time is like a reminder service to them that my refund I have not received it and every time for them is the same reply that they have escalated it And all I have to do is keep waiting for god send cheque. Special shout out to Managers Logan and Nicole. You have to see their faces as I have done some crime in following up from them and they are doing everything possible to keep escalating. You never hear back from them on any update, tracking number etc Basic customer service is not what you can expect at this place

Fantastic experience: Great gym community with a range of good machines including a number of cable machines. The gym and change room is always clean and Tyler was a great help at the front.

Negative experience: Hours are trash, usually overcrowded, jacuzzi and sauna are never working ‍♂️

Positive experience: The staff is great and it is a large place. Half the time the television on the cardio equipment doesn't work. A bit more effort could be put into the upkeep and cleanliness. However, the members are excellent.

Negative experience: Sauna never works, hot tub never works, broken equipment all over place. But one thing works that is automatic deductions from your account. Annual fees, etc. never buy membership here. Non satisfactory. Wish i could add photos cant go back cuz canceled my membership in frustration.

Negative experience: This location is absolutely trash. Nothing works here. There are so many Better gyms barrie. Treat yourself nice with Athletic Kulture, good life, fit for less or even planet fitness, at least they have massage chair working. I wasted my first and last here.

Positive experience: Gym and shower areas are clean. Equipments are well maintained. Use the swimming pool frequently and water quality is decent though bottom of the pool maybe dirty at times. The GYM is never crowded and you never have to wait for any machine. The GYM operation timing leaves much to be desired though it also explains why gym is never crowded. For the price, I do wish I could get towel service or more flexibility on operation times.

Positive experience: Decent gym. Decided to cancel my membership after 2 years of being a member. My reasons are that it is always so crowded, I feel like the 2 guest policy should be changed or at least managed differently. There should be an age limit and frequency limit... I also bring guests with me sometimes, but I just feel that this policy can make the gym overly packed at times. There should be specific times when guest are allowed or at least only 1 extra guest is permitted. When it's busy, I will spend a lot of time waiting for machines because there will be groups of friends taking turns on one machine, or people just scrolling on their phones. I've also noticed the cleanliness has gone down significantly. It used to be better maintained when I first joined, but now it's not as clean as it used to be. I do prefer the north gym over the south. But I decided to open a membership at a smaller gym. I will miss the sauna though, since I spent a lot of time enjoying it in the winter months.

Negative experience: Mens sauna is not working again, i was told that it will be fixed not less then half a year, jacuzzi often is not operating, floors are dirty especially in dance room. Toooo crowded.

Positive experience: Over the years the maintenance had taken a tole on this gym. Very nice and quiet in the mornings. Busy at night.

Negative experience: There’s a lot of day to day things that detract from using this gym, it’s unclean, the men’s bathroom always smells bad, machines are often broken and take a while to get fixed, and it’s an extremely busy location that on Monday-Thursday from 4pm to 8pm you probably just want to avoid since there are no machines available and even cardio equipment is at a premium. But, many people come to this location specifically for the sauna. I can’t speak to the women’s sauna, but the men’s sauna is often broken for weeks at a time as management is slow to fix it and has no interest in upgrading the sauna or enforcing the rules of not pouring water or oil on it. Most recently the men’s sauna was broken for a month, maybe longer, it was up and running for a couple days before it allegedly caught on fire and is now no longer active. There is a sign up in the gym saying it’s currently out of order and it’s unclear if it will even reopen in the future, so now I’m looking around for a gym with a sauna to join. If you are thinking about signing up at LA avoid this location and be aware the sauna is broken for the foreseeable future and may never reopen…

Negative experience: The gym is nice and clean however the janitor roid rage, he’s rude and offensive, makes the experience uncomfortable. Edit it’s been 4 weeks and the sauna still not fixed. I’m not sure what the management does here but I’ve been to many different locations by far I’ve never been to location that had a sauna shut down for more than a month.

Negative experience: Sauna is always broken paying so much in fees and they won’t fix it just excuses. The amount of people here at the gym we can fix it and run this place better than the employees

Negative experience: The people that come to the gym are great, people keep to themselves. L.A fitness was decent, going downhill fast. Front desk clearly don't care, the morning woman laughs when you bring up any concerns. It's dirty, it smells, sauna hardly works, pools dirty, hottub is terrifying.

Negative experience: Avoid. Offers in emails are scams. If you sign up, they will charge you fully. Additionally, some machines don't work. For the same amount, you can find a better gym. Trying to cancel and get a refund is a real headache.

Negative experience: Wondering why I had $271 taken from my account today. Cancelling my membership today. This feels like fraud!!!

Fantastic experience: LA Fitness is an exceptional gym. The staff members are friendly and helpful, which creates a welcoming atmosphere for all members. The gym offers a wide range of classes and has various workout options available to cater to different fitness goals. Personally, I particularly enjoy aqua fitness and some of the other classes offered. Overall, LA Fitness is a great place to stay fit and achieve your fitness goals.

Negative experience: I’m starting to hate this gym. I love the kind, caring staff and it is always so clean. If it weren’t for the constant. DAILY. amenity closures, horrible horrible opening hours, and inability to find a machine during peak hours, I would be in heaven. Unfortunately, these things continue to make me adjust my schedule or leave unsatisfied. Why close at 10pm on Friday but 11pm every other night? 8pm on weekends?? Please get another squat rack, I am tired of watching groups of people perform chest presses on the smith machines. They only have one machine per leg exercise, as well. It is too busy of a gym to have one machine of its kind. EDIT: every gym mat I use is torn. the sauna is closed weekly. The men’s sauna hasn’t been open in 3 months. The hot tub has been closed for two weeks. What is happening at this gym

Negative experience: I was disappointed with my trial membership. The fact that a gym this size only has 2 squat racks and one spot to deadlift is sad

Fantastic experience: Have always loved LA FITNESS since day one! I love that there are locations in the south end and north end of town so I can workout at both when needed! The gym is always clean and the staff are so friendly! They always welcome with a big smile and I find the machines are always in good working order and lots of selection to pick from! I love the gym and Sauna too! Being a nurse and doing firefighting, it is soooo nice to have a gym close by to where I work before and after my shifts and so many classes to pick from! LA fitness is my favourite escape!! Love this gym!

Positive experience: Its one of the only gyms in Barrie with a sauna. Unfortunately, it's a lottery on whether or not the sauna is actually working. Disappointing to go in to use the sauna that I pay my membership for, to find out it's broken and won't be fixed for days.

Positive experience: Always great customer service from Wyatt in sales in particular, as well as Megan on the front desk who is knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Equipment is good, gets busy at times, just like any other gym, maybe a few more squat racks would be beneficial.

Negative experience: AVOID. Truly a garbage business. They will tell you your membership is cancellable at any time, then tell you you are locked into a full year paying them. Absolute dirtbags working here, avoid at all costs.

Negative experience: There's two things you can be absolutely sure of when coming to this LA. - The sauna will not be working. - The bathroom will always smell like someone's peed on the floors.

Negative experience: It's not clean. Flat out. They need to up their game as far as maintenance and sanitation goes. I sat down on a bench several times recently and noticed it actually noticeably stank. Disgusting. It didn't used to be this way, but it certainly is now. If the gym wasn't so close to my house I would go somewhere else for sure.

Negative experience: One of their best features is the sauna and it is usually not working and it takes them a very long time to repair it. I will not be renewing my membership here going back to Good life Fitness at less they keep their equipment in order.

Negative experience: Other then the sauna being down constantly, all the drinking fountains filter light status being conveniently broken. There's an awesome older guy who works here with a fedora and vacation shirts that'll make your day. I'll happily withdraw my review when they're issues get tended to. It's been over a year and the water filter lights are off. DO NOT DRINK THE WATER

Negative experience: The scale has been broken for like 2 weeks, not first time. How am I to measure gains fat or muscle. And the basketball net rims are bent, mans gotta ball but it’s hard when your 3s feel like the rim is against you. I support the dunking but gotta maintain the rim

Negative experience: Decent facility but they seem completely uninterested in modernizing any equipment. Here are some things they do not have which I would consider essential gym equipment in 2024: hex bar, clips (there are like 2 sets lol), box, sled, glute thrust machine (only reminders of broke pads), and standing calve machine. As well as some other upgraded stuff like Jacob’s ladder, bumper plates, dumbbells over 100, and rope pull machine, which they don’t have. Sucks owners do not want to invest a bit of money to make the facility so much better because there is potential.

Fantastic experience: Very nice gym with lots of equipment. The hot tub is a MAJOR bonus to joining this club. My only complaint is the lack of cleaning stations. All the spray bottles are kept in one spot and I think they'd be used more if they were spread throughout the club.

Negative experience: Normally a great gym but over the past couple months it has become very dirty. The amount of people going to the gym has greatly increased and the cleaning and sanitation has not kept up. The most notable is the changeroom and sauna. The smell is foul and one of the showers has literally hundreds of little black flies in it.
