Millennium Place: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Swam lengths in the morning a few times a week for years and upon retirement in spring, fell in love with deep water exercise class. Amazing instructors. Appreciate Josh, Sandy, Deanne, Bonnie, Margaret, and Nicki. Outstanding and joined a Community of Friends.
Fantastic experience: Great play area for the little ones.
Positive experience: Love going here. Super welcoming space. Staff is friendly but dont really do anything. Sitting and talking to your friends at a desk for multiple hours isn't work. Especially when machines stay "out of service" for weeks, sometimes months even though a couple of turns of an alan key would fix the machine. Maybe 2 or 3 staff upstairs that actually care about their job. Pickle ball / basketball / badminton courts don't ever get cleaned. Shoes pick up dust and you slide like nothing. Great place if your benefits cover the charge. Definitely don't recommend it if you gotta pay outta pocket
Fantastic experience: The kids love swimming here. The wave pool is fun. Hot tub is fairly big aswell. Also like going ice skating here.
Fantastic experience: Amazing gym, lots of equipment, people actually workout here instead of posing. One of the best rec centres I’ve been too!
Fantastic experience: Always clean and the friendly staff and members. Love it!!!
Fantastic experience: Best place to enjoy a fun day with the family. The wave pool is must
Fantastic experience: This is our Family Favourite Swimming location. Very affordable. Kids love the wave pool. There is sauna and hot spring. Lots of activity in Millennium. Highly recommended for everyone.
Negative experience: We have been using Millenium Place gym for years to stay in shape. We have many good friends and the place is quite nice but we recently decided to go elsewhere as the place has seriously gone downhill over the last couple years. Maybe a management change is needed. We found most the staff on duty are pretty lazy, preferring to just sit behind the desk on the computer, rather than walking around to check on things. Our main concerns were with what seems like half the people that use the equipment DONT wipe it down afterwards, which is disgusting with all the germs and viruses these days. The staff do nothing to curb this and the lack of signage is appauling. The other main issue is the staff just dont seem to care, just putting in their time. Occasionally we will point something out to the staff that requires attention, its like in one ear and right out the other. We had enough and moved on. I know others we have talked to complain about these things as well, pretty sure they will move on one day as well when they have had enough. Its really too bad, it could be such a great place like it was 5 years ago with just a little care and attention.
Fantastic experience: I love this place!!! Wish we had something like this down south. The skating rink was so cute for the kids!!
Fantastic experience: Fun place for families. Well located, has a few options for food.
Positive experience: Great facility with something for everyone. Family friendly and the staff are super friendly.
Fantastic experience: Pool is the way to go. Only seems the family change room gets chaotic. The light are not too bright. Water always warm
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place for weekend fun or birthday parties!
Negative experience: My favorite place in sherwood park since 2011, all staff was very helpful, polite but today one staff works in front desk and SHE was very "RUDE" She has no customer service at all!
Fantastic experience: Excellent availability for lane swimming. The changes rooms and steam rooms are very clean which is amazing.
Negative experience: So I came here with my family for a swim, and these teenagers were stacking tubes on top of each other, while the waves were going, they almost fell on my kids and the lifeguards REFUSED to do anything about this, they even went as far as to say that it's totally okay for them to stack the tubes even tho it's completely unsafe not just for themselves but for others around them.. the younger lifeguards here don't know how to do their job and should be fired for being useless
Fantastic experience: This is better the the Rec Centers in Edmonton, This area is a calm and relaxing place. Also it has very cool designs like in the swimming pool area!
Positive experience: Love swimming but it gets a little loud in there which isn’t as relaxing at times.
Fantastic experience: Great place for kids and adults. Kindof expensive but then you realize the admission covers the rink, indoor playground, and the pool
Fantastic experience: I try and get to the model train show every year. The food counter was delicious and so many options, and the kids area was hard to leave. NOT for me, but the kid I brought.
Positive experience: Wave pool is really fun for adults and kids but the universe changing room really needs cleaning but I recommend going if you have kids! And recommend going at weekdays because it can get a little bit crowded on sundays!
Fantastic experience: One of my favorite places visit regardless of weather. Great recreation options and sometimes amazing shows too.
Fantastic experience: It's Very Wonderful! Great Place For The Greater Edmonton Model Train Show Every Year, Every Fall in September. Especially Swimming As Well As The Gymnasium.
Fantastic experience: loved the toddler playground and swimming pool with waves! staff was all super friendly
Fantastic experience: I went to this place three days in a row when we had wild fire. Swimming pool is exceptional, had fun on skate link where you can borrow skates if you don’t have any. Kids’ indoor playground is pretty cool too. Ice cream in the canteen pretty good too with reasonable price.
Fantastic experience: We went to SportZone. Our 3 kids loved it. Staff were very attentive with the kids and constantly cleaning the equipment. Lots of chairs around for parents to sit and watch if not right with the kids. Definitely worth the admission fee($6,50). We will be returning for sure!
Fantastic experience: Not too busy in the morning. Great wave pool.
Fantastic experience: Great place to take the family. Safe, clean and lots to do for all age types. Staff is friendly and kind.
Positive experience: Always a good place for excersize, hockey, gym, swimming, or basket ball. It's a good rec center kept in good clean condition.
Fantastic experience: Great place for Badminton because the lights weren't in my eyes unlike clareview
Positive experience: amazing experience would go again but saw a large beetle crawling in my locker room. was skeptical if it was cleaned properly.
Positive experience: Love it. Skating is awesome. Pool is always operating.
Positive experience: I recently visited with my family, and while there were some positives, a few areas need improvement. The water temperature was perfect, making it enjoyable for both kids and adults. The change rooms were well-maintained and clean, which is always a plus. The family room should be reserved exclusively for families. It was quite crowded with individuals who weren't with families, making it less convenient for those of us with kids. The kids' pool area had several broken water hoses, which was disappointing as it limited the fun activities available for the children. There weren't enough bathrooms, leading to longer wait times, which was inconvenient. The admission fee was on the higher side, which might not be justifiable given the issues mentioned. Overall, while the warm water and clean facilities were appreciated, the broken equipment, insufficient bathrooms, and high price were significant drawbacks. I hope these areas can be improved for a better experience.
Negative experience: Creepy lot of people in the pool. And also not go miennium place sexual harassment
Fantastic experience: Millennium Place in Sherwood Park has an amazing swimming pool that's perfect for families! It's a great way to spend the day, and my kids absolutely loved it. The wave pool and lazy river combo are a huge hit and provide endless fun. There's a great mix of areas for serious swimming and fun water play. The atmosphere is super friendly and welcoming. The lifeguards are attentive and make sure everyone is safe, so parents can relax a bit too. The changing rooms are clean and well-maintained, which is always a plus. It's a fantastic spot for a family outing. If you're in Sherwood Park and looking for a fun way to spend the day with the kids, Millennium Place's pool is the place to be!
Fantastic experience: Excellent recreational park, I give 5 stars and I love it
Fantastic experience: Jenny at the front desk was very nice, knowledgeable and friendly! I had a great experience!
Negative experience: I heard a lot of good things about this facility for years. My 12 year old nephew goes there a lot with his grandmother and cousin. I decided to try taking him and my 13 year old very shy cousin from Ontario there instead of WEM waterpark. It was okay - the pools are warm which is nice, but not a large space. The one star review is from when my nephew asked if he could show our cousin the play park because he plays there all the time with his younger cousin. I said of course and took them in after swimming. My cousin comes up to me about 10 mins later and says she thinks were getting kicked out. I asked why and she said because they were too old to be playing in there. I told her that the staff member can come and talk to the adult (being me) and sent her back to out to play. I was approached by a lady asking if I was with the two older kids (which there were a couple of other older kids in there at the time as well, older than my two) and I said yes and asked if she was the lady that tried to kick them out. She said she wasn't really kicking them out, but that the space is for ages 7 and under and it was a gentle reminder. I asked if they were being disrespectful to the younger kids or breaking any rules on the equipment - she said no. I asked again, so you are kicking them out? She said no it was a gentle reminder. I took the kids and left. Maybe I am in the wrong - maybe there is a sign somewhere there that I missed. What bothers me the most, is how my nephew and cousin felt as kids being asked to leave by an adult instead of talking to the adult with them. They felt unwanted and like the were being bad. Will never go back to that facility just because of how they made them feel.
Positive experience: Not bad but poor architecture. No natural light therefore it feels like a butchery
Fantastic experience: Millennium Place in Sherwood Park is outstanding, providing a superb range of recreational activities and state-of-the-art facilities. The gym is well-equipped, and the aquatics center, with its pool and water slides, is a hit for all ages. The staff are incredibly friendly and always willing to assist. The community programs and events are diverse and well-organized, making it a hub for family fun and fitness. Overall, it’s a top-notch facility that enhances the community spirit.
Fantastic experience: Staffs here especially in the front desk are warm welcoming friendly, accommodating and Polite…My kids had so much fun and well be back again for sure!!
Fantastic experience: Great place for swimming and a huge indoor track inside. Not too busy either after the 5-6pm rush hour. They have all the amenities you need in one place and good for the kids too
Negative experience: People are very disrespectful there. My brother and his friends were getting drowned by older kids. He is a cerfited CPR guy, but his friends are not. Schools shouldnt go there for swimming, too much kdis who are going to drown you to get what they want. Stupid kids also are very greedy there, bullying and saying slurs.
Fantastic experience: Great food and areas all nice and clean Even bdays are allowed
Fantastic experience: Very impressed with the lifeguard Shanna. Saw a kid drowning actually rescued the child. Very safe facility the lifeguards clearly care about the safety of all patrons. Drove from North Edmonton will definitely come to this facility again
Fantastic experience: Best Pool in Greater Edmonton Area. Kids vouldnot get enough of it!
Fantastic experience: Fitness staff are polite and helpful. Productive and care about the clients. I needed a service on a machine. When I arrived the next day to use it. Staff had it fixed and ready to use.
Fantastic experience: The front desk staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. They have a huge variety of machines and equipment. And they have a really great track that's quite wide.
Fantastic experience: Great recreation indoor facility. Lots of fitness options, play area for kids, skating area and my personal favorite is the swimming area, has a lot of fun activities... Also very affordable 35CAD per family
Fantastic experience: Lazy river is the best time ever specially when the waves are going and they don't mess around. There are waves every half hr, and it travels thru the whole pool, and it's huge. They got something for everyone including both a sauna and a steam room. Going every week thats for sure.
Fantastic experience: Very kid friendly. Great place to take the family. Best hot tub temperature I've ever experienced
Positive experience: I am giving it four stars only because it was my first visit. The purpose of my visit was to quickly view the facility and register for an Active Pass membership. I hoenstly have not explored all of the amenities. I saw hockey rink, badminton court, swimming pool, their gym and area for snacks. The staff were very helpful and accommodating though. They were very welcoming and would gladly respond to any inquiries. The process of getting the membership was quick and smooth. The parking is free and huge! I am excited to experience their amenities.
Positive experience: This place is good, nice gym, nice aquatic area. The reason it is a 3 is because they continue to raise prices, either the hot tub, sauna, or wet sauna are always out of order. They removed the bathing suit dryers, the stopped giving out bands for people to use at the gym. Sad to see the place in a decline
Fantastic experience: Our kids love going here with lots of activities to do. Wish I had one of these when I was a kid.
Fantastic experience: Such a great place to visit. In today's environment, everything is so expensive but Millennium really makes it affordable for everyone. My kids spent a whole afternoon there with so much fun activities: swimming pools, skating, playground, badminton... Hopefully Edmonton has some rec centres like this.
Negative experience: The pool facility could be great if they reduced their maximum capacity, way too many people allowed in this pool on a busy day, which is every weekend. As well probably one of the more dirty pool floors in the change rooms and the pool area. Unless something changes and they do a better job cleaning, I would not recommend this pool to anyone.
Fantastic experience: This place was amazing. The waves were amazing and fun, The blue slide with the water coming down the slide was fun and fast, and they had everything! Like swimming pool, Hockey arena, Indoor & Outdoor Soccer Fields, and indoor playground. The only downfall was that the ground in the indoor playground was hurting my feet when I was walking on them. Same with the ropes that help you go to the yellow slide so I was wondering if you guys could make the ground in the indoor playground soft and nice and it doesn’t hurt, same with the ropes. They have a lot of stuff to offer. I Recommend everyone to come here because they will have so much fun here!
Positive experience: We have a weekly ball hockey game here and it's perfect for it. The staff is very friendly.
Fantastic experience: I attended an active conference here and the complex is magnificent with active places for everybody and anybody. Gymnastics, ice rinks, okay area, swimming pool (with lots of options)...
Fantastic experience: The staff are wonderful and welcoming. Their facility is great for our lacrosse league we are a part of for having a location to play, during the winter and spring seasons! We appreciate being able to use this location.
Negative experience: This place is not clean. My child got ring worm from the baby boats in the swimming pool and cleaning a room means simply spraying it with a hose and water. No cleaning products used. Won't be returning.
Fantastic experience: The front end staff are amazing and the visit doesn't break the bank for a daily drop-in fee for all facilities except skate rental.
Fantastic experience: Nice big and large gym. It is fairly well kept. The pool is more of a fun pool with a lazy river. The dry sauna and steam sauna are nice, and the hot tub is larger and nice and hot.
Fantastic experience: Big pool, big hot tub, lazy river that is pretty fun, wave generator that effacts alot of the areas, lots of pool toys, big fan of the universal changerooms, rentable lockers, me and the GF had a great time, there is other stuff there too.
Fantastic experience: Will only ever come here for recreation activities. To be more specific. The pool / hot tub and steam rooms are the best. I will go out of my way to come here than anywhere in Edmonton
Fantastic experience: 1 rink we skated on had a little skating area attached which was nice for my kids to learn on and not be in the way of others racing around the rink. Will be back.
Fantastic experience: One of my favorite recreational facilities in Edmonton, it's well worth the trip if you don't live nearby. They have a wonderful selection of activities and ample space to support them. The pool area is next level compared to many and the staff are incredibly helpful.
Fantastic experience: Really nice and decorated Pool area, sauna and steam room are at perfect temperature, Staff never fails to Put a smile on your face, Plenty of space to do lane swimming. And so much more!
Negative experience: Love working out here and using the sauna/steam room afterwards. Cannot understand the full grown men who hang their wet clothing over the benches that are supposed to be used for changing. Almost in protest for them not returning the BATHING SUIT dryer, but instead inconveniently ruining a place to Sit and change. (Dryer busted because kids and guys can’t read the sign that literally says “1 pair of clothing, push to the bottom) I also don’t get why MEN cannot stop talking about the more racist, misogynistic, religious etc etc views in the sauna like it isn’t supposed to be an area of quiet and relaxation. -Am a guy.
Negative experience: Took my kids there for the very first time today, and I'd have to say for $30, and not being able to have a locker because half we full, and the other half out of order. Adults going threw the lazy river with layered tubes that kept hitting kids, and life guards doing nothing about it. The wave area was so packed your constant being hit with some sort of floating device or person. I feel on days like this, there should have been a warning to people about no lockers available due to full capacity. And they should have had people wait if need be in order for people to have a more comfortable swim because I for one rather spend the $10 less and go to a rec center. My experience from start to finish was not great and unfortunately will not be returning.
Positive experience: The pool is great for small children and the lazy river is really cool. The change rooms are extremely cold and it was very uncomfortable for our baby after we swam. The last time we were there a child threw up in the pool not even 20 minutes after we were there and the entire pool had to be evacuated. We were not offered a refund at all which was disappointing as we barely spent any time there.
Fantastic experience: This recreational center is a wonderful place for families! The gym has state-of-the-art equipment, catering to all fitness levels. The swimming pool is clean and well-maintained, perfect for both adults and kids to enjoy swimming and water activities. The kids' playground is a fantastic area for little ones to play and have fun. The facility offers a variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy together. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. I highly recommend this recreational center for a family visit. It provides a great opportunity for families to bond, stay active, and have a fun-filled day. Can't wait to visit again soon!
Negative experience: Swimming pool unexpectedly closed for maintenance as a kid pooped in the water
Fantastic experience: Loved this place. After a three hour drive my kids needed to get out some energy, the pool was well kept, clean, guards were attentive but not over-ly so. The lazy river was a hit! It’s not very lazy, more like and aggressive river. So fun. We’re headed there again tmrw before heading to an event in the city.
Positive experience: My genuine thanks to the lifeguards on duty the week before this review was posted for tending to my injury I sustained due to my own fault! On a more disappointing note: $1 for a full size locker? Considering patrons already pay to get in, don't charge them more. Hopefully that is fixed soon.
Fantastic experience: No better gym and indoor sports place with a swimming pool in the area. Well maintained and clean
Negative experience: I’ve heard millennium place has cut their cleaning budget in half. Am I wrong ? Super gross to hear. Can’t even go into the hot tub or steam room without getting sick the following days. Very disappointing.
Positive experience: Holy cow, this place is amazing and has everything. One huge downside is the family change room though. Terrible layout; how it passed drawing review we will never know. It's a narrow hallway that forces everyone to always be in each other's way. With only 5-6 change rooms you are left to stand in the way, dripping wet and now cold, until a room opens up, only to be snatched from you while you are distracted trying to move out of someone else's way. And only one bathroom for that whole change room, are you kidding me. Terrible design.
Positive experience: I would be giving 5 if not for the following I've experienced in my last 7 visits: -price increase -open hrs now prevent me from accessing the facility after work (9pm-11pm quiet time) -change room floors are being ignored, (unlike in 2023 and earlier years where the change rooms were the absolute best condition around) I do love that hot tub Please change the hours back!
Fantastic experience: We love Millennium Place! My husband and I have been going to the pool here for many years now and have also used the gym there in the past which is also great. The main pool is big and is attached to the tot pool which contains a small playground with 3 small waterslides. It's also a wave pool and has waves that run on and off throughout the day (I think in approximately 20 minute increments). The only downfall to this was when our son was a baby we found the waves to be too much and stopped going there for a while until he was bigger. He now loves the waves. I always wished that the pool would have a day once a week where there were no waves for people who don't like the waves or who want to bring their smaller babies. There is also a large lane pool, hot tub, dry sauna and steam room. The hot tub area contains water tables to the side for tots to play in while parents get a soak in We now have a 2.5 year old son and go to the indoor playground and rink regularly. The indoor playground is one of our favorites, it has a smaller playground for smaller kids and a bigger one for big kids. There's also a room with mats and toys for babies and another room with a play kitchen and garden. The rink is always open for public skating and is attached to a larger hockey rink which they also sometimes have open. They also offer skate rentals and have a couple of ice strollers to push babies around in. The cafeteria has a great assortment of food and also features a Second Cup for the coffee lovers.
Fantastic experience: Best pool for kids in the area. Food options for kids. Indoor playground is god too
Fantastic experience: It was our first time there and it was crazy busy (it was a Saturday). After our swim, my daughter had gotten a cut on her foot while in the pool (she slipped and fell). I was waiting til we were all changed to go to customer service, but the wonderful older lady (I think she was Philipino but not sure), was so sweet and kind. She was squeeging (sp?) the floor and saw my daughter upset and got her a band aid for her foot while I was changing. It means so much that employees go the extra mile to help (especially cause my daughter is autistic). Thanks again for a wonderful day.
Fantastic experience: Ever since MP was build, the return in investment and above all the many sports and activities available are truly outstanding. Highly recommended!
Fantastic experience: My kiddo always enjoys going here. He loves the water slide and the indoor playground. Great place
Positive experience: Nice big place with lots to do, very well priced memberships but they don't seem to hire very many janitors. The changing rooms are always dirty and stinky. And the showers are so gross and tiny I don't even bother using it. I believe the customers are the only ones keeping gym equipment clean. Just hoping people remember to wipe it down after use.
Fantastic experience: Place is great. The pool is fun with waves coming all the time, lazy river is awesome and the arcade and sports area for the kids provide excellent options. Pond is great for the kids to skate on and they have open ice a lot as well.
Positive experience: Wonderful place to spend an afternoon with kids. We were visiting from Japan and took our daughter here to enjoy both the pool as well as the skating area. She had an absolute blast and the fact that you can get a perfectly affordable all day family pass was the icing on the cake. We would like to make more visits here next time we're in the city. My only gripe, and this is more so on the people, not the staff, is that the men's bathroom had no shortage of stalls with urine all over the seats.
Negative experience: Horribly expensive. They think you should pay full price as an adult just to look after your child while they're doing an activity. Not even close to worth it. What a stupid policy, will never go back.
Fantastic experience: Great local pool, awesome for kids of all ages.. i respected that the lifeguards actually inforced policies to some of the older kids who were climbing up slides, throwing things etc. Good pool
Fantastic experience: My one year old Grandson loved the play area. Lots of free parking.
Negative experience: While paying to enter, we asked if aid admission is free because my son has autism. And the lady at the front was very rude and dismissive. We made the point of mentioning if it isn’t we are happy to pay but all she said is “I guess it’s fine.” Family change rooms are odd (it’s like one long hallway with locker on one side and change rooms on the other) and actual rooms to change are limited. Overall very fun facility. Just like most places, not super disability friendly.
Fantastic experience: My kids love the water park here. I love that they have a family chane room with dedicated rooms with benches. That makes getting ready so much easier with multiple kids.
Positive experience: I took my toddlers to the play center. It was clean, safe and they had so much fun! I was also happy to see the Second Cup there. We enjoyed a great treat after playing!
Negative experience: The facility was absolutely wonderful. My son and I had a really wonderful evening. However, we decided to have supper there after spending thirty one dollars for chicken fingers and a hot dog fries and a drink. They sold us a terrible hot dog it tasted like rotten meat. Not to mention how sick I was from it that evening. Stay away from the hot dog. The food court is over price. On the other hand the chicken fingers were delicious. But like I said overpriced. Could I had a cheaper meal at McDonald's?
Negative experience: Do not recommend this place at all. My family and I came to play volleyball and they took the balls away at 9 when the facility closed at 10:30. Never specified this when we inquired via phone call or at the front desk. They said that if we have our own equipment then we can continue playing. This was not specified on the website and they made us buy passes to even check out whether there’s room to play. We basically ended up playing for 25 mins with nets after asking them several times. Terrible
Negative experience: Horrible experience. My family and I came to play volleyball from all ends of Edmonton and we asked if a net could be set up but they made us buy passes only to let us play for 30 minutes with a net (that too after waiting upward of 45 minutes). Then they took the ball that we used from the facility after 15 minutes and said if we don’t have our own equipment we can’t play… ridiculous. At least this should be clarified when we pay for the bands to play. Do not recommend. Go to Leduc Rec instead :)
Positive experience: Was packed and I did not enjoy the fact that all of the kids brought these newer plastic boats into the front of the wave pool. I have been coming to this recreation centre since i can remember and I tell yeah, I never seen the plastic kayaks before coming last Sunday. Myself and a few other children got hit pretty hard in the head(s) whenever we went to enjoy the wave pool towards the front, where it can get a little dicier!! I love this pool and their staff. I just think the bigger floaties that have hard plastic on them, should be in the back of the wave pool and the cute fluffy tubes in the front. Or get rid of them all together and save kids from losing an eye!
Positive experience: Good for exercise, steam bath, and Sauna etc. Leisure time like Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey, ice skating, and lot more. Come and visit and you'll find out.
Fantastic experience: Great place to go when wanting to hang out with friends. Love the rink. It closes at 9 PM so we can come after work and skate late which is nice.
