Columbus Centre

Fantastic experience: We had a good experience at Columbus Centre,that was the first time that we have attended a function,impressed with the service that they provided,I would recommend for anybody to visit this magnificent hall.

Fantastic experience: Excellent sports (gym, classes, pool) facilities as well as a music school, good cafe (beats any of the chains by a mile), and even an Italian restaurant inside. Sports membership is at very reasonable prices.

Negative experience: My sister has paid over $300 a month for an art class held at the Columbus centre and she has been attending these classes for a year. The classes are great but the Columbus centre itself has Precise Parklink (parking enforcement company) issuing tickets if you do not pay for parking. Why should she have to pay parking when she is paying for a program to take at the Columbus centre? And the tickets are $100, more than if the Toronto police were to issue you a ticket? Completely ridiculous and she has since stopped going to the Columbus centre and we will no longer support this scumbag facility who is trying to make a quick buck off of their parking lot.. I can see she wasn’t using their services and was parking there to go somewhere else, but that is not the case! We as a family have been attending the Columbus centre for decades of years taking both art and swim classes, 2 gym memberships, we have even hosted events there. Instead of making things better for their community and the people who have continuously given them business they make things worse.

Negative experience: Very rude and immature camp counselors, I heard them bad mouthing many campers and even once bullied one and made him throw tantrumps, proceeds to laugh at him and take videos of him.

Negative experience: The gym was freezing. Please turn up the temperature........brrrrrr.

Negative experience: Got a ticket parked there for half an hour swimming with my daughter no indication that payment was needed to park whatsoever or at least not posted clearly , rather inconvenient

Negative experience: Hey... took a few courses here many many years ago and it was good, haven't called the main phone number for a very long time, just called 2 minutes ago and no answer at reception, then I remembered!! that's why I decided to no longer come here, because if god forbid you need to call them for whatever reason, only god knows there will be no answer....

Fantastic experience: Love the italianism, the Italian art, its continued display of all things italian and its ties to the Italian community that literally built that space brick by brick. Let's continue to persevere the Italian heitage, to support italian families and celebrate all that is Italian for future italian Canadian children and families pls.

Fantastic experience: Love this community centre. It's Italian based but is the local community centre. Gym, swimming, trainers, exercise equipment, weight lifting equipment, Zumba, senior gentle fitness, yoga, cafe etc., etc. Also art courses, Italian language courses, cultural events and an art gallery. Lots for everyone.

Negative experience: They are stealing people's money, I was doing fine at first, but then I wanted to cancel my membership, then they told me that I had an agreement with them and that I had to pay for 6 months, and they still continue to withdraw money from my account every month. It's a terrible place. If you want to go here, change your mind immediately.

Negative experience: When I registered, they said you can cancel your memebership whenever you wanted. I went for 2 months and then they said I had a contract with them and they continue to take my money every month even though I don't go to the gym.

Negative experience: Been going here for over 20 years. Now, I bring my kids here. A couple years ago, they added parking enforcement, at first I thought this was good. Every Monday night when I am there, I see people parked in the handicapped parking that shouldn't be. Not sometimes ALL THE TIME. Also, even though I never leave my car while I sit and wait for my kids to finish their class, I received a notice in the mail for a $175 ticket that was never placed on my car. Also, the dance parents picking up their kids, needs to be addressed. Blocking the entire front of the building. Large vehicles shouldn't be parked right in front of the doors. It's unsafe for the kids trying to cross when cars are coming through.

Fantastic experience: I've been coming here since 2009 and love the atmosphere and the mutual respect. I am happy that the men's room have been totally renovated.

Positive experience: I visited the athletic facilities. The squash courts with the glass back wall are much better than the ones in the basement. Overall the place is very clean and the facilities are good. I don't know why the pool closes earlier than the rest of the athletic facilities. Also it is a bit on the pricey side compared to other gyms.

Positive experience: I have been taking classes with Juliana and I'm so appreciative of all her work. She's so knowledgeable and motivational. She takes her time and she's showing the exercises and modifications. Her energy is also incredibly infectious. I take her Monday classes and coming into the room to see her smile and warm welcome makes you want to get exercising and go hard. I would recommend that everyone have her as a teacher. I hope to one day have her as a trainer! Mercedes' steps and strengths class is also a fun one. She plays great music and really works hard at getting the class motivated and make sure we enjoy ourselves. She's a great instructor with a bubbly personality. She's awesome!

Fantastic experience: We just had our wedding at the Columbus Event Centre on June 7th and we couldn't be happier with the experience. The staff, from the coordinator (Jorge) to the catering and service staff were absolutely amazing from start to finish. We chose this venue because A) we could get married in the beautiful gardens in the back and then have the reception at the same location so that it wouldn't inconvenience anyone and B) dollar for dollar it was one of the only venues we thought were pricing fairly. All the guests commented on how beautiful of a setting the garden area was for the wedding and because we had a smaller wedding (120 people) we chose to have the reception in the Carrier art gallery instead of the larger hall. It was a perfect setting, with amazing food, great staff and enough to drink. My wife and I would like to thank Columbus Event Centre for hosting such a wonderful event. You made that day truly special.

Fantastic experience: I’ve come here on and off for years, but my dad has been a long-time health club member and loves it. There’s an indoor pool, tennis courts, a restaurant, gym, fitness classes, upper level track, and much more. The gym itself has significantly improved too, including pretty much every machine you can think of! The age range of members really varies, from high schoolers to older adults. I recently started personal training as well. Both Mercedes and Kabir have been incredibly supportive and helpful throughout what typically would be a very intimidating process. I love that goal setting isn’t based on just the scale, it’s about a complete life change to make progress sustainable!!

Fantastic experience: A great place full of Heritage and Italian culture .........on July 25th , 2018 the Preservation Office of the City of Toronto has declared Columbus Centre a place of interest, therefore Columbus Centre has been registered in the Toronto's registry, as a Heritage place, in order to preserve it. The Italian Canadians Coltures, history and traditions are considered very important by the City of Toronto being part of the multicultural history of the GTA.

Fantastic experience: Great Gym Equipment, Friendly Helpful Staff, Excellent Programs! Swimming Pool, Squash Courts, Tennis Courts...the club has everything... Parking is free for 4 hours too!

Negative experience: They have ruined this place bringing in the food dudes and other partners. Bring back the old Columbus centre and bring back your staff. Very disappointed. It funny seeing many of the new staff trying to build it up.

Negative experience: Absolutely horrible how they are discriminating against people based on their medical status. My rating is actually zero stars because even a 1 star is too high of a rating. Me and my family have supported this facility for decades having had multiple celebrations in their venues and was a member at the fitness centre...now they basically threw me out like a piece of trash. Shame on these people. Now they are denying my children the ability to go swimming because they won't allow me or my spouse to accompany them. I will never recommend this place to anyone ever again.

Positive experience: Went for Election Day, not much to do at the centre due to pandemic but a beautiful park behind! Nice Cafe too

Negative experience: Unfortunately really crowded and full of rude disrespectful people. I walked around for approximately 10 minutes and had multiple people tell me it was a reserved private park. A group was trying to film something and asked when we would stop walking by as we kept ruining their shoot, meanwhile we're in a park that was crowded with other people.

Negative experience: Place is run down. Should be rebuilt.

Fantastic experience: Great community, amazing organization, lots to do all season, check it out if you live in the area. From music, to art, to restaurant, to out door activities, to gym, to yoga, to day care, classes in abundance for all your needs. Staff are super sweet. Highly recommended it.

He ran a tight ship....a bride's dream!! He was accommodating , very professional yet so down to earth. The venue was lovely and the Food was delish. Great wedding. I would recommend!

Our waiter was beyond courteous.The restaurant is beautifully set up and perfect for a private event or romantic dinner. I cannot wait to come back and try the regular menu! Fantastic experience: Had our wedding here. Amazing space and hands down, George, Sabrina and the entire staff are top top notch. So accommodating, so professional but personal. They turned their space to completely beauty for us. They really helped make the night special because the staff were so great. We had the staff partying! Lol. It was great. Oh and by the way. This is the only place where the wedding food is amazing. It's from the restaurant on site. Amazing amazing food. Trust me, I know. And in terms of cost for a wedding, there was no better deal anywhere. Not exaggerating. Best deal for all inclusive. Best. Anyway check them out. The art gallery is great too!

Negative experience: Management of the gym is awful. My locker was broken into and I was robbed. Happens a lot, apparently. No call back from the gym. When I called, I was given the runaround. The members are great, but the people who run it are the worst.

Positive experience: If you're looking for a place nearby where you can workout, they've got machines and free weights. Weekly passes, or monthly passes specifically for members who have someone visiting they want to bring with them for a short period of time should be an option. Come on folks. It should cost as much as it costs members per month and be limited to a 3 month period of time (3 passes) max. If you have to buy a guest pass every time ($15) for a months worth of visits, that's totally not ok. If you go 3 times a week that's over $130. Why?

Negative experience: Very poorly set up. No.music, equipment is thrown all over the place, there is no place to walk. Not a welcoming place. Mostly old people use this facility.

Negative experience: Had 2 kids attend this daycare. Staff is very friendly and good with kids but their accounting dept is terrible. They constantly make mistakes and over charge. When you finally get a hold of them they make excuses not to return the money and give you the run around. For this very reason I would recommend if you go with this centre do not do any sort of automatic payments. My children are no longer there yet the took money from our account without consent and now we're getting the runaround again to get our money back.

Fantastic experience: This North York hub for the Italian Canadian community, at Lawrwnce and Dufferin, is an excellent multi-purpose cultural centre including dining options and display space for a variety of cultural and artistic events.

Fantastic experience: Columbus centre is a beautiful culture centre. Filled with history and art from the library to the gallery to the restaurant. Dealing with the head staff is like taking a step into Italy as they answer back to you in Italian. What comes with that is the hospitality that Italians are known to show. We enjoyed every moment of the event here.
