Strangway Community Centre

Positive experience: I'm from Sarnia. I recently discovered the Hobby Shop, but its operating hours are not convenient for many people who are interested in visiting. Most people with typical 8-5 jobs would like to participate in the wood workshops, but they can't because the shop is only open Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 4 PM. If the shop could stay open until at least 5 PM, it would be beneficial. For example, I can sometimes finish work by 3 PM and would love to visit and learn something new. Extending the hours to include Saturdays would also be greatly appreciated by people like me who are eager to learn woodworking as a hobby and contribute to the community. PS: Currently, I'm designing and building a little library using the tools I have available.

Positive experience: Excellent place for community activity and engagement. The Hobby Shop is excellent. Many knowledgeable staff and all the tools you could need to create your masterpiece. I wish I old enough to purchase a membership but you have to be 50+.

Fantastic experience: About a year ago I had checked it out but did nothing and a while ago my son gave me some tokens for their hobby shop. So today I went in and started on a project. About a month ago I purchased some Hard Maple and Walnut one inch wood with the intention of making some Cutting Boards. Well; today, I got started ripping and sizing the material and with the small parts left over laid out a Charcuterie Board. Back again on Friday to work on getting finished. You need only to bring your own material and all the tools are there to freely use. Winter hours are 9am to noon and 1pm to 4pm.. You clean up 15 minutes before shutdown. Very friendly and helpful people.
