Delbrook Community Recreation Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: Every single time I swim here I get sick! The showers are never bleached or cleaned and the shower water was colder then the pool water. Very disappointing. Also the hot tub should be called the warm tub because its never hot. That of course is if the hot tub is even open. Also its pretty ridiculous to me that the builtin board is not open for the public to post things on and only what the staff choose to allow on it is posted or advertised. That board should be for everyone to use in as its a public facility!
Positive experience: Came here to sauna and steam after a long hike with some friends. Prices were fine, many amenities. Hard to follow the signs downstairs for where to go for the change rooms. Also awkward to figure out how to leave. I think we left through the enter corral. Staff was helpful. Pool was really big Good size sauna and steam room Parking was a bit hard to get and far from the front door, but free
Fantastic experience: Great center! Love the pool
Negative experience: Poorly managed swimming pool capacity and poorly managed lineup by the receptionists. We were asked to start a new line for the swimming pool after waiting in the long line to see the receptionist where the pool is not very full (pool capacity does NOT have a clear guidance on the website, and the reception desk cannot narrate it clearly). Also, we are not informed at all when they start to allow people go into the pool. We have been living in the community for ~10 years, never see the community centre is this poorly managed.
Hi Peng, Thank you for sharing your feedback. During busy times, we understand that wait times to access the pool can be frustrating. Our pool capacity is determined by strict safety standards, which require maintaining an appropriate lifeguard-to-patron ratio. This ensures that everyone using the facility is supervised safely, even if the pool itself may not appear to be at full capacity. We’re always looking for ways to improve the flow of our admission process and communication with guests. Your feedback is valuable, and we’ll take it into account as we work to enhance the experience for everyone in our community.
Positive experience: The centre is very clean and modern. The staff are kind and helpful. Pool: The pool is clean and spacious. However, the schedules for free swimming and classes could be made clearer and more accessible. Gym: While the gym is nice, many of the machines are outdated, and some are no longer functioning properly. The space is quite small for the number of people who use it, leading to long waits for equipment. Additionally, the stretching area is too limited for the gym’s volume of visitors. Parking: There is free parking available both indoors and outdoors. However, if you’re attending a class, I recommend arriving early, as parking can fill up quickly.
Negative experience: The design of the rec-center is beautiful but not practical. It didn’t account for the demand and the massive growth in the demand due to population growth. The gym is often overcrowded where you might need to wait 10-20 minutes between machines. There is a lack of space in the gym, it feels crowded when there is only 30-40 people in it. The response I’ve seen from the rec-center was to put bikes and boxing bags in the other gym room. I would strongly argue that this is not something the majority of health enthusiasts want to use. The design also didn’t account for the football/soccer pitch right beside. Whenever there is a training or game, there is no parking, as it fills any overflow parking that the recenter normally has. Also, for such a modern design, Im surprised they didnt include some kind of viewing area for the field. It’s laughable that the lead project manager for Delbrook, Nicola Chevallier, said “You can almost watch the soccer game from the hot tub” in the N.S News interview. She’s right, you can see half the field from the hot tubs, and the end of the field when in the pool. Who wants to ‘almost’ watch a soccer game? Further, who wants to watch a game while swimming? Considering this was completed relatively recently (2017), it won’t get renovated with major additions for at least another 30 years, which will make the lack of foresight of the designers and planners even greater. Positives are as it is a rec-center and the facilities are new, the price you pay for a monthly membership is really affordable. Getting a membership for a pool and a gym at around $45 is great.
Fantastic experience: I love this place. Great for family and kids. Staff are so nice and it's clean.
Fantastic experience: Lovely facility and very kind and friendly staff.
Positive experience: A very great environment but unfortunately the changing rooms and shower areas are very dirty, which it must be washed minimum 4to 6 times .Also in the men's and women's changing area the some people don't go in the changing rooms to change and it is very discusting to see people completely naked particularly it is not suitable for kids. The must be a sign to mention that matter and not to do so.
Fantastic experience: I love the ️♀️ friendly helpful staff.
Fantastic experience: Nice rec center with lots to offer
Fantastic experience: Modern building with a great gym.
Fantastic experience: One of the best community center, and really good pool and gym.
Fantastic experience: 5 start facility they also have NA meetings every Friday evening at 7pm largest Narcotics Anonymous Meeting on the North Shore.
Positive experience: These guys either gotta get a hip thrust machine or some better barbell pads, no joke walk out after hipthrusts with torn skin from the pathetic pads they provide. Since there's no way to reply to your answer.. you make it so there is no other way to get pads other than asking staff and all options were exhausted.. I made a suggestion for better pad as ALL the other community centers on the north shore have appropriate pads and accessories.
We’re truly sorry to hear about your injury while using our equipment, we take situations like this very seriously. If you haven't already, please let our staff know about the incident so we can thoroughly inspect the equipment and ensure it’s safe for everyone. In addition to that, we have various pads available to provide more comfort and support. If you need assistance with selecting or adjusting equipment, please don’t hesitate to ask any of our fitness centre staff.
Positive experience: Clean facilities but staff who is working on only weekend (I think) is not helpful and seems unhappy to be at work.
Positive experience: No aquafit in the evening or early morning so I can't go. A shoe requirement for their gym area which I can't adhere to so, I can't go. The pool is terribly crowed and the women's change room floor is absolutely gross every time I go, completely covered in black hair everywhere.
Hi Rebekah, Sorry to read about your experience at Delbrook. NVRC tries to offer a variety of services in our pools to meet the needs of the community. In the past, Delbrook has offered evening Aquafit sessions, however, the classes did not get the registration numbers needed to continue. Once Ron Andrews pool re-opens on October 2, they will be running an evening Aquafit on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30pm. For your safety around the equipment, only closed-toed athletic footwear can be worn in the fitness centre. As the facility schedule changes, we will adjust our change room cleaning schedules to meet the higher demand times in the evenings.
Fantastic experience: Our friend had a Celebration of Life for his Mother, the vibe was so good that I was feeling she'd BLESSED and is in HEVEAN May she Rest in PEACE
Negative experience: I recently visited this recreation center and had a disappointing experience. Brianna, the manager, seemed disinterested and unhelpful when we had a minor issue with our booking. Kathy, a staff member, was also unprofessional and seemed annoyed when we asked for assistance. The facility itself was poorly maintained, with outdated equipment and cleanliness issues. Overall, it was not a pleasant visit, and I won’t be returning
Thank you for your feedback. We strive to create a welcoming and respectful environment for all visitors, and we take all concerns seriously. Regarding the situation you mentioned, we do have procedures in place to ensure the safety and smooth operation of our programs, including participant registration. Our team did their best to handle the situation respectfully, and we appreciate your understanding of the importance of these guidelines. While we value feedback on how we can improve, we also ask that all interactions with our staff remain respectful.
Fantastic experience: I attend Zumba classes by Shima, love it
Negative experience: "Culture should be for everyone, not only those who can afford it" I can not comprehend what maintainance this building requires or how much they pay their nuclear scientists because 7.35 dollars for open gym basketball is cruel, unjust and unbelievable. When I walk home from school I cant walk in and enjoy a nice half an hour of basketball because now I have to choose between that or buying lunch. Next time you walk around on downtown east side and you wonder how so many adolescenes and young adults reside there on the streets doing recreational drugs, know that its because in this country recreational drugs are more expensive than recreational sports. Kudos to whoever is taking 7.35 dollars from kids who want to play basketball. Edit: thank you for clarifying only adults have to pay so much. I still have to choose between lunch and open gym
Hi Mike, $7.35 is our adult rate, we have child and youth rates available. Our open gym drop-in sessions are only $3 and the sport most commonly played at these sessions is basketball. The schedule can be found on our website, nvrc.ca, under drop-in schedules. Open gym sessions are free if you have an Active Pass.
Fantastic experience: The poolside is like a vacation. Very clean, spacious and fun. The staff are low-key cool. Hartley is outstanding , amazing customer service, will come back
Fantastic experience: Well-managed and well-equipped with an ample parking lot.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff - good place for exercise - clean.
Positive experience: Morden design and layout for this recreation center in North Vancouver. Popular and busy spot for the locals. Plenty free parking spaces available but can be hard to find a spot during busy hours.
Fantastic experience: Took swimming classes here, and I love the place.
Fantastic experience: The best gym ever. Awesome equipment and great staff. Highly recommend
Negative experience: The staff are great but the rec center design is terrible. This is the only gym close by for many people, but they made the gym area so tiny (it is crowded with only 20 people, no space to lift). Going from a massive gym in the old Delbrook to this makes no sense. Also the layout of the pool and viewing area. There is a football pitch with no indoor viewing area. They put a viewing area in the pool - who wants to watch a game when they are swimming?? The district is at it again wasting taxpayers money and not improving the community.
Hi Dimitri, We're sorry to hear that you're unhappy with the size of our fitness centre. The space is the same size as old Delbrook, with a maximum capacity of 125. We also have a fitness studio across from the fitness centre that contains a variety of fitness equipment such as punching bags, ropes, spin bikes and mats for stretching.
Fantastic experience: This community center is the best place for swimming in North Vancouver. I love it.
Fantastic experience: State-of-the-art, relatively new community center that has everything from a swimming pool to multi-purpose facility rooms, squash, a giant gym for weightlifting and cardio, and even some breakout rooms for spin classes. Highly recommend this facility as it really does have something for all ages of people in the community. There is underground parking although it fills up very quickly but there is further parking outside if you can find it. The parking fills up quickly as there is a multi-purpose field that kids often have various sports on.
Fantastic experience: Delbrook Community Center is a nice place to spend time in. It has swimming pool , gym facilities,, and also squash courts. The membership fee is reasonable.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Nice pool. I love the hottub and steam room
Fantastic experience: The pool is simply amazing. We love going here.
Fantastic experience: A very busy recreation centre with a ton of activities for everyone to enjoy. Pool is super nice and busy. Fitness centre is even bigger and has tons of racks and equipment. Parking is sometimes busy but there is parking around the neighborhood. Blenz being inside is so great because of the access for food and drinks after a nice gym session or after programs.
Fantastic experience: Great gym and pools Reasonable price All the facilities are super new and clean And the staff are all very kind and nice
Positive experience: They need to clean the changeroom rooms of the pool area more often
Negative experience: Pool lane swimming hours are abysmal for such a busy centre, and having waterwalking take up the entire pool makes little sense. Gym is too busy for my liking as well. Came here to swim, left without doing so.
Hi Nicolaas, As you discovered, our facility is very popular with our community members! Water walking sessions take place in the current channel which is connected to our leisure pool. Customers are also welcome to water walk in the slow lane during lane swimming sessions; the medium and fast lanes are for swimmers only.
Negative experience: Expensive, I payed over 3bucks for 3~2hours open gym lol not recommend too expensive. Gym is clean tho.
Hi Junas, Sorry to hear you found the NVRC’s Open Gym drop in fee of $3 for 2 hours too expensive. Our cost is comparable to other local municipalities. If you are planning on also using the fitness centre, pool, and other NVRC amenities, you may want to purchase an Active Pass. Open gym is one of the activities included in the pass.
Fantastic experience: Best variety of hot tub walking pool LANE, swimming sauna and steam room
Positive experience: This place gets crowded on the weekdays but on Fridays it does not get too busy but when I went to the weight room it was not too busy and I could get my workout done but otherwise I love to workout even the boxing bag are a good Idea and if i need to go to the steam room its so crowded and i cannot find a place to sit and if i want to go to the hot tube its so crowded and i can not find a place to sit.
Negative experience: What is the point of a community pool if it’s not for the community? This is the third time I have tried to go for lane swimming and every time I have been told I can’t because there are lessons going on…only to sit at the GIANT windows they have and watch an empty swimming pool that no one is using. Total waste of time and super disappointing. If north van is going to refuse to build big enough pools they should at least have the decency to run them better.
Fantastic experience: State of the art facility in North Vancouver run by NVRC as a public institution. Has an amazing multi function pool, fitness centre & many programs for all ages. Very accessible by wheelchair to all parts of the facility. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Positive experience: the basketball court should be open at the afternoon also not just morning. because people want to play ball after school/work etc. thankyou.
Hi Vanandrei, Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We currently offer open gym sessions from 3:30-5:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and basketball can be played during these sessions. We hope to see you again soon.
Negative experience: If I could give negative stars I would definitely did. We went there on a Sunday afternoon, they told us we cannot use the swimming pool, we asked if we could use the hot tub they said yes hot tub and sauna are for use and then we specifically said that we want to use the hot tub and the agent told us yes it is available. We bought the tickets went there and the hot tub was freezing cold and there close signs all around it. We came back to the person that sold us the ticket and said the hot tub is closed, he said no it is open but just cold, you could see the signs around the hot tub from the lobby. We said we bought the tickets and you didn’t tell us we cannot use it. They said you should have asked and we did asked multiple times. The name is Hot tub and if it is cold you should tell us. Worst customer service ever, no apologies, and no refund for their mistake. Just be aware that you could pay the money go there and nothing is working and you are responsible for knowing it before the reception. It was my first time going there and will never return because of rude reception and the worst customer service ever.
Hi Mina, Thank you for sharing your experience at Delbrook; we appreciate your feedback. In addition to posting signage, our customer service representatives try to inform patrons about any closures or changes in pool temperatures when purchasing admission. We are sorry we missed you when you were purchasing your admissions on Sunday. We are happy to hear you called our front desk today and received a refund for yesterday’s visit.
Fantastic experience: Very nice staff who have always treated me with kindness and respect. The facilities are also quite good in the fitness centre, with most equipment you could desire being here, including barbells, machines, dumbbells, elastic bands, and kettlebells as well as a plethora of cardio machines.
Hi Sepehr, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're happy to hear that you're enjoying our facilities. Please chat with our staff if there is ever a piece of equipment which we don't have and you feel would be a great addition. We hope to see you again soon.
Negative experience: It was a really bad experience, they didn’t let my daughter and her friends go to the fitness gym even though she’s 15 and they let 8 year old boys go, idk if it’s sexist or what but it was unacceptable , they should be glad children are going to the gym, we are never going to delbrook again.
We are sorry to read of your daughter’s recent experience at Delbrook. NVRC encourages children and youth to access the facilities and it is important that they are able to do so in a safe manner. The fitness centre is available to those 15yrs of age or older during facility hours. Anyone 13-14yrs needs to book a 30 minute youth consultation with our fitness centre staff prior to gaining access without adult supervision. Anyone under the age of 13 cannot use the fitness centre at any time. If you would like to talk to us more about your daughter’s experience, please email us at [email protected] and we will connect with you directly.
Positive experience: Used the walking pool for spinal rehab. The water temperature, circular flow rate, and depth is perfect to keep your head up. Wish they could limit the people in the pool for their daily social talk. They pile up and block the way. They are not there walking.
Positive experience: The facility holds 100s of people, but the change room area holds 8 comfortably. The upper lockers are only useable if you stand on the seats or are 6 ft 6 inches tall. The architect blew it.
Fantastic experience: Fun for all, pool/ Gym/ table tennis/ squash/ both steam & sauna rooms & more Both indoor parking + outdoor and Dog park in back or walking trails
Negative experience: Firstly, I believe the Sunday closing time could be extended, as many facilities close quite early, which may inconvenience some visitors. Extending the hours would provide more flexibility and improve the overall experience. Secondly, I have noticed that the gym area and equipment are somewhat limited given the number of users. Many essential machines are unavailable, and some of the dumbbells appear outdated. I would kindly suggest expanding the gym area, as there seems to be adequate space available. Additionally, updating the equipment would not only enhance the facility but also allow more people to participate comfortably.
Hi Karamjeet, Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback, we'll take it into consideration.
Positive experience: The facility is OK since it's pretty new, however, it's the people who work there that bring this place way down. First off, the front desk staff must be hired for their excellence in being grumpy. They hardly every smile, give you a hard time if you ask for anything, and seem basically disinterested in any concern you have. Next, the staff in the fitness room, with the exception of the two women who works the afternoon shift, are pretty much freeloaders. MUSIC: They play their terrible music really loudly, even when it's supposed to be "no music from 1 - 3". If you love loud Lynard Skinard, then you might like the music, but it's usually so loud you can't use your own ear buds since the music drills right through. LAZY: About half of the fitness room staff just sit in the office on and leave the gym to remain a mess. Gym users leave the machines full of weights or leave all the hardware at the pully machines once they're done. One guy on the weekends literally sits in the office chatting with guys, then walks around with his pumped arms and helps nobody and does nothing to keep the place organized. NOT HELPFUL: I imagine the NVRC would hire people in the gym to help new users but they just walk by as those just trying to get fit but making mistakes. Yesterday, my friend helped someone out themselves since the staff was busy yakking instead of showing a proper motion on a machine. Finally, there are signs everywhere warning of thieves but the lockers in the change room need a token. So you need to get dressed again and go up to get a token. I think if criminals are allowed to roam the building, they NVRC should supply free tokens to users so they can secure your belongings while showering or using the pool. In sum, nice building, shame about the staff.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and concerns with us. NVRC aims to provide a welcoming and positive environment for everyone and are disheartened to learn that we fell short. We take your feedback seriously and are looking into the issues you raised so we can make improvements. If you have any additional details or specific concerns you would like us to address, please reach out to our customer service team at [email protected]. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any frustration or inconvenience this may have caused.
Negative experience: Expect your steam room and sauna visit to be ruined by Persian culture. You will get a headache instead of relaxation, because of the non stop loud Farsi
Fantastic experience: An amazing community center for swimming, Gym, Youth center, Squash courts and so much more. There is coffe shop can make your waiting or visit more pleasant. Underground parking lot and plenty open parking spots, both for free.
Fantastic experience: Great gym great pool. Staff are very helpful
Negative experience: This facility needs a lot of improvements. Don’t even know where to start and personally have been member for decades. The gym is always packed and you must wait for 5 people using same machines. Can’t properly work out. The pool is always busy with children lessons all day and you can’t even use half the pool. The sauna steam room or hot tub not always open and broken. They put new signs people can’t even whisper with each other in there. I don’t agree with this at all. Creating more frustration and letting some members becoming owners of the place telling people to shut up basically. The change rooms are filthy with hair everywhere. If you don’t wear anything you will get athletes feet. The staff and life guards are not cleaning or washing anything. Maybe once a day? They rather stand around and talk with each other at best. Maybe they deserve better pay not sure. The parking lot is a chaos with people going in circles and cutting each other off. Sometimes no parking at all must go down to the dirt field a mile away. We deserve better as a community centre than this.
Hi Frank, We appreciate your feedback regarding your displeasure with the Delbrook Community Recreation Centre. It is important to NVRC that our customers have a positive experience in all of our facilities. As you mentioned, a high volume of customers visit Delbrook on a daily basis. Staff work hard to ensure that the facility is safe, clean, and provides a welcoming environment for everyone. We encourage customers to let staff know when areas are in need of attention.
Fantastic experience: Kids love Delbrook. My older daughter(7) has participated in 3 or 4 of the community run programs here. We use the pool on a mo they basis. Staff are friendly and always helpful. Great spot to work up a sweat or tire the kids out.
Positive experience: Sauna is freezing cold and changerooms are exceptionally dirty constantly, especially at the end of the day when employees would rather wait until close to do the final clean. If you're using the changerooms/pool between 7:00-10:00PM and don't have footwear for the pool, expect to get athlete's foot. It should be cleaned every 30-60 minutes instead of every 3-4 hours. Otherwise excellent facility.
Hi Quinn, Thank you for your feedback. Delbrook staff are aware of a mechanical issue we are having with the sauna and are working hard to remedy the situation as quickly as possible.
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility with very helpful and friendly staff. Modern equipment throughout the gym. A great variety of pools to choose from. The facilities are fully accessible for wheelchairs
Fantastic experience: Absolutely beautiful space and well appointed with a great pool and hot tub.
Fantastic experience: Thank you to all the beautiful people working here to make this community Center great. I appreciate you ♥️
Positive experience: The lights in the pool are so bright fml Gym is awesome
Fantastic experience: On my first visit, Sara went above and beyond, ensuring everyone’s safety at the pool and creating a fantastic atmosphere. Her dedication and exceptional service make me eager to return for another enjoyable experience!
Fantastic experience: Love this place. Here twice daily now and love that it's got the gym, an awesome pool, also get to play squash and basketball and so many activities for the kiddies!
Negative experience: A new facility, but the worst parking of all North Vancouver. One-level tiny underground lot, another small outdoor lot, and that's it! I have given up searching for a spot several times and just gone home.
Fantastic experience: Could use a better kids area With a slide or something But overall great place Awesome steam bath Yaaa
Fantastic experience: Amazing facility, but if your going to pay for a drop in always check the gym before paying, sometimes it’s crazy packed with little kids everywhere for drop ins
Fantastic experience: Great community center. Well organized.
Fantastic experience: We usually have good experiences here, but this morning specifically the man working at the front desk was the most helpful and kind. This was about 20 minutes ago. Thank you!
Negative experience: Horrible front desk staff(Cathy )today!! She don’t let my little boy play here . She told us tickets has been sold out. I come here every week for last 2 months . And I never hear of tickets been sold out and always same amount of people here. Just the way she said it not polite. Rude .
We are sorry about the way the message was delivered about our Open Gym being sold out on Sunday. This session often sells out in the fall and winter when it rains. We will work on improving how we communicate this to our patrons.
Positive experience: The gym is pretty amazing, and it's huge. Surprisingly it can be hard to get a free rack though during busy times. Pool is pretty good, nice lanes and hot tub. Negatives: -Poop in pool: kicked out, lack of communication around what was going on and when the pool would open again. -The water walking area: lots of signs that say only walking yet a lot of kids are allowed to mess about... not that I care as I don't use that area, it's just something I noticed. -No cell signal in lower level... signal on Wi-Fi was very low too.
Fantastic experience: Love it here! So clean and new. Everyone is so friendly and helpful too. I love that there are private showers as well as the communal showers. Parking is not too bad with the underground parking especially. Especially good for people with disabilities as there is an elevator to the underground parking.
Negative experience: ATROCIOUS parking. Spent 45 minutes circling all the lots (underground and overground) and not a single space opening up. Completely infuriating. At 8:30pm no less. Parking never used to be an issue here but its become unmanageable. Street parking is limited to 15 minutes..
Thank you for sharing this experience with us. We understand the frustration of not being able to find parking. In addition to the parking lots, there is street parking available close to the facility.
Negative experience: Senior assaulted by NVRC staff member. I had a traumatic experience this morning which started when I entered the steam room at Delbrook Rec Centre. Immediately upon entering I was shocked by extreme heat and steam to the point of suffocation. An off-duty staff member, whom I recognized, was the only occupant and I realized he had deliberately covered the sensor with his wet towel - despite signs warning against this. Upon my entrance and without me saying a word he aggressively snatched his towel off the sensor and acted as if this was his own personal home steam room that nobody else had the right to enter. As the heat in the room was unbearable and above the rec centers own recommended setting, I opened the door for a moment to let some of the heat escape in order to make it a more safe and tolerable temperature. He immediately began swearing and shouting at me to shut the door in a very hostile manner. I explained to him its too hot in here and I cannot breathe until I let some of the extra heat out. He aggressively got up and marched towards me in a threatening way whilst still swearing and shouting. He then pushed and shoved me and then finally pushed through me and left the room. At that moment I placed my hand on his shoulder to tell him he can’t assault me like this and just walk away. He suddenly started screaming and yelling at patrons nearby asking if they saw me push him! He was screaming at the top of his voice and yelling that I had assaulted him and he was immediately looking for witnesses. Astoundingly, other staff members stood by and supported their incompetent and hostile colleague as he continued swearing and acting and then proceeded to call the police on me. When the police arrived they spoke to both of us separately and said they would not get involved as clearly I had not done anything. However, the pool supervisor, Kevin and his colleague both told me I had to immediately leave the premises and could not return until further notice. What type of organization (and people) allow their employees to verbally and physically assault seniors, then call the police on them and then ban them from the facility? SHAME ON YOU North Vancouver Recreation Centre.
We are very concerned to hear about your experience. We would like to speak with you to learn more. A staff member will call you to discuss.
Positive experience: Very please with how clean the facility was. I was surprised at how small the fitness area was but had enough time to work out and use the machines and feel weights with no waiting and make it to work on time.
Negative experience: After 6 years everything is rusty and ugly there ! Spending so much taxpayer’s money to build and use that kind of low quality material♂️ There is a thing called stainless metal that can resist water Also there are so many correct ways to seal metal from water and moisture They should go to places like in Europe and learn how to do things ones the right way and forget about it for a long time
Fantastic experience: Best pool in lower mainland. Big and clean. Overall this one is a good recreational centre.
Positive experience: The pool is suitable for young children as there is a walk-in and shallow part. There are fountain features they can play in. I was not impressed with the family change room. People left garbage out on the benches and in a shower cubicle. There should be adequate garbage bins at both ends of the change room, or have cleaning staff regularly checking. It's a shame when you want to enjoy the facilities.
Fantastic experience: Facility is great and the front desk staff are super nice. My only gripe is the locker room floors are a bit grungy and need to be cleaned more often.
Fantastic experience: Our favourite rec centre in NS. Although there are parking issues time to time especially on weekends when soccer / field hockey practices are on.
Positive experience: I used the fitness center/weight room. Overcrowded, and a ton of people not knowing how to use those equipment, or willing to work in with someone else, occupying equipment while talking or playing with their cell phones. Facility itself looks pretty but wouldn't it have been a better use of funds to have a larger and more equipped fitness center designed by experienced professionals, and potentially have floor trainers for clueless people than to spend it on 60 ft wooden ceilings and columns, glass staircases and those huge useless TVs and the glass artwork? I'm sure it put a huge smile on the contractors faces and the orthopedics
Thank you for your feedback. Our team is working hard to educate users on fitness centre etiquette, including the practice of allowing others to work in. Please bring any concerns you have to the fitness centre staff on duty.
Fantastic experience: Review of Delbrook Community Recreation Centre: I recently became a member of the Delbrook Community Recreation Centre, and I must say, my first experience was nothing short of fantastic! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere, which immediately set the tone for the rest of my visit. My first stop was the gym, and I was impressed with the range of equipment available. Whether you're into cardio, weightlifting, or just looking to stay active, they've got you covered. I spent a good amount of time working out and found the facilities to be well-maintained and clean, which is always a plus. After a satisfying gym session, I headed over to the pool. I must admit that there was a bit of a rush and a lineup for the public pool at 7:30 pm, but once inside, the experience was totally worth it. The pool itself was spacious and well-maintained, providing the perfect setting for a refreshing swim. I managed to complete 12 lengths of the swimming pool, which was an excellent workout. One of the highlights of the visit was the hot tub. After my swim, I decided to relax and unwind in the hot tub, and it did not disappoint. It was a perfect way to soothe my muscles and get refreshed after a good workout. What impressed me most about Delbrook Community Recreation Centre is the variety of activities it offers. Apart from the gym and pool, there are also options for basketball, table tennis, squash, karate, and many other activities. It's a great place to explore various interests and keep yourself engaged in a fun and healthy way. Another significant advantage of being a member here is the reciprocity with other centers in North Vancouver. Having access to other facilities in the area adds a lot of value to the membership and encourages me to try out different places while staying active. The only minor downside was the rush and line up for the public pool, but with so many other amenities and activities available, it was easy to keep myself occupied until the pool was less crowded. Overall, I highly recommend the Delbrook Community Recreation Centre. Whether you're looking for a good workout, a relaxing swim, or a chance to explore various recreational activities, this center has it all. The friendly staff, clean facilities, and the option to use other centers in the area make it an excellent choice for fitness enthusiasts and anyone seeking an active lifestyle.

Fantastic experience: It a great place to exercise, swimming and cultural activities very pleasant.
Positive experience: Been going to the gym religiously and in my opinion it’s rather small. During peak hours it’s usually impossible to find a machine to work out with. (Lots of people crowded around areas) I try and go during the lunch hour and that seems to be the better time for myself. Later on in the day the more people are around I find. People don’t always clean down equipment like your supposed to but overall it’s not a bad place and I’ll continue to come here unless I find a new gym that’s relatively close to me as this location is very convenient for myself. Parking is fine could be worse but could be better but it depends on what time you’re coming to the recreation centre.
Positive experience: There's a recurring issue that needs addressing during training class times. It seems some parents reserve the showers for their kids up to 15 minutes in advance, making it difficult for others to use them promptly after class. This practice often results in long wait times or forces some to give up showering altogether, which is particularly inconvenient. It would be great if management could enforce a fairer system to ensure everyone gets a chance to use the showers without unnecessary delays.
We're sorry to hear that you are having difficulty accessing the showers after swim lessons. We do have signs in the change room asking customers not to reserve stalls, and staff do walk-throughs and remove clothing which is left behind. However, the reserving of change rooms happens during program changeovers when guards are busy on deck. If you let the guards know next time you are at the pool, they will check the change rooms for you.
Fantastic experience: Underground parking, excellent staff the biggest football field and soccer field. Squash courts, oversized gym, pool hot tub sauna, dry sauna Amazing
Fantastic experience: A great place to get in your water walking, water running, laps, steam, sauna, and hot tub soak in. Everyone who comes here is always having a good time with many people, including adults playing, so it's a great vibe.
Positive experience: Solid gym with a good variety of both weights and cardio equipment. Sauna was decently hot and the showers had both hot and cold options(not all rec centers do). Sweet little cafe attached as well to get a protein shake after a session. Only reason 4 stars and not 5 was because a maintenance guy was running an angle grinder in a gym full of people, producing noise, sparks and a terrible odor.
Positive experience: Great gym and pool.. change rooms are tiny though. When busy you have to stand around waiting for a spot to change. Poor design. The prices are great as well especially with monthly options. Could use some new equipment though. I think she is still from the old William Griffin days
Negative experience: Usually something is broken for a long time. The management inside the hall is also very weak. For example, you may have to wait an hour for a device because someone is playing on their cell phone. The only positive thing for me is being close to home .You should take care of your personal belongings. Usually parking is full. The behavior of sports coaches is very poor
Positive experience: The staff are perfect the facility itself is not well maintained tho, some of the showers doesnt work, the water its not very clean, but the workers are sweethearts tho

Fantastic experience: Have swimming classes there and we like it! Also very clean and at a good location
Fantastic experience: New equipment and beautiful environment. The building is new and the staff keeps everything clean and nice. Usually quite busy during the afternoon. Lots of options for swimming pools, hot tub, sauna and steam room.
Fantastic experience: Clean and decent facilities
Fantastic experience: Great modern facility. The swimming pool has massive windows that let in a lot of the daylight and it's beautiful to have such a nice view of the sky when you're in the pool. Basketball courts, fitness centre, squash courts, other meeting rooms and Blenz coffee shop. Lots of recreational programs are held there.
Positive experience: Many parents are frustrated at the Sunday morning drop in parent and tot rule that once it’s full they don’t let more in. This is a two hour window and an hour in, it’s half full. There is an employee asking for wristbands so not sure why we can’t just track who is leaving to let in others. Meanwhile, I observed him let in a friend of someone attending who was leaving and they just swapped out wrist bands. I rarely see anyone using the open gym it splits the room In half with! The exercise gym even for a modern gym is way too clogged with equipment. I also wish the layout was such that the free weight section was way larger. Also, Blenz?! So many great independent coffee places on the North Shore you could have chosen. If you take a quick look at what is packed (gym, pool, tots activities) it makes zero sense to have valuable square footage for random barely used multipurpose rooms.
Hi Lauren, We're sorry to hear that your are frustrated with our Parent Participation Playtime sessions on Sundays. Due to patrons attending the session when it was sold out, a temporary staff person was appointed to ensure the session did not go over capacity. in order to allow this drop in to remain a low-cost option for the community, the session will remain unstaffed for the remainder of the spring season. Beginning in the summer, the Sunday Parent Participation Playtime at Delbrook will be adjusted to the full gym, with double the spaces available. NVRC has several locations where Parent Participation Playtime have longer durations and may accommodate more participants as others leave. Delbrook offers a 2-hour full gym Parent Participation Playtime on Saturdays.
Positive experience: Good! However they need to make it clearer to anyone booking squash that it’s 7$ per person, not just for the reservation itself.
Fantastic experience: This is my daughter's second home she loves hanging out with friends at the youth center and the pool.
Fantastic experience: Awesome facility ! great steam room Hot tub could be a bit hotter Recommend ear plugs it’s quite live acoustically
Fantastic experience: Wow! Huge, modern, clean, and a lot of fun. Clean changing areas and a huge “universal” or “family change areas.
