The Westin Ottawa Health Club

Negative experience: Poor Customer Service. I have made a 15-min appointment to tour the facilities and then decide on what plan would suit my needs. Received a confirmation email with instructions to follow as to who and where to meet. Arrived 10 minutes earlier, checked in for access at the lobby. Went to the defined area and the person who was supposed to me meet me never showed up. That already tells me everything I needed to make a decision. For now, I won't be dealing with this and decided to sign up to other conventional gyms around the area. Maybe I will try in the future, but for now it is a NO.

The whole experience was wonderful, friendly and professional from online booking to the end of the massage - I felt valued, my muscle pain was addressed and I re-booked again already - Well done Serah!

Fantastic experience: I have a rule called n-1 (n-minus-1), for every day away from home when travelling, I must work out each night minus a day. The gym facilities at the Westin Ottawa are professional grade, large workout spaces, comfortable temperature, clean, generally low traffic as well. Excellent place to stay fit even if one's food choices while travelling are not the best.

Fantastic experience: When anyone is looking to join a gym there are always a series of steps they take; 1) Location 2) Equipment 3) Variety of services i.e. massages, private training, various activities like squash, basketball, pool, 4) Locker room, showers, towels and hours of operations etc. etc 5) Value for money 6) Management is the icing on the facility. In all cases the Westin club is superior to anyone else in Ottawa

Fantastic experience: The Westin is my favourite gym in Ottawa. They have brand new cardio equipment with Netflix built in, a couple Peleton bikes for spinners and roadies who hate winter, and above all else amazing towel service. It's an enlightening experience.

Fantastic experience: I've been enjoying the Westin gym for years now. I'm a big fan of the hot tub and sauna. They are the perfect reward after a workout. The peloton bikes are addictive and the new equipment is excellent. One of the best things about the gym is the location. The Rideau Centre is hub for Ottawa and Gatineau buses adn the LRT. I get off the bus from work, workout, think about what I need for dinner on the treadmill, get what I need from the supermarket in the basement and then catch my bus home. Perfect.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend the massage therapy at the Westin! My latest session with Lisa L. was extremely therapeutic and her professionalism and competence were exceptional. My previous RMT at the Westin, Elke, is also highly professional and her treatments were very effective over the years I was seeing her. I look forward to continuing treatment with Lisa and again I highly recommend this facility, not only for massage but also as a health and fitness facility.

Fantastic experience: This is the best health club located downtown Ottawa. It is convenient in many aspects: - open 24 hours, towels are included, lockers, hair dryer, sauna, etc. It is never overcrowded. The new treadmills are certainly a great asset! Running looking out on Downtown Ottawa is quite an almost daily peaceful experience.

Fantastic experience: Going to the Westin health club is like being able to go on a mini vacation multiple times a week. The fact that you can work out on top of the line equipment like the new Peloton bikes, but also enjoy the pool, sauna, hot tub, and just relax with a book by the deck is what makes it ultra special. The best part? They have towel service so you don't need to carry around a wet towel in your bag all day. Love this place.

Fantastic experience: I love being a member of the Westin Health Club. They have all the equipment one could wish for for a good weight or cardio workout session including a pool, hot tub and saunas. I like the new Peloton bikes! It is big and doesn’t feel crowded. The view is also quite nice!

Fantastic experience: It is probably the best hotel health club in Ottawa. The swimming pool is great, guy is perfect, sauna is the best in Ottawa for sure. They also have massage therapists.

The club management and the size of the club create an atmosphere that is welcoming, encouraging and knowledgeable about personal fitness. Carrie Brown is an excellent, experienced trainer. She motivates and inspires me and is flexible and adaptable when personal circumstances indicate the need to modify my program.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful gym, convenient location, plenty of (new) LifeFitness treadmills and ellipticals, as well as Peloton bikes. The saltwater pool is great and very quiet during weekdays - a nice way to end your workout. The perspective from the main gym is amazing with panoramic views overlooking the National Art Centre, the Parliament buildings and the French Gothic architecture of the Chateau Laurier. The Health Club Manager, Carrie Brown, is always available to help and promptly responds to any questions, suggestions and requests for advice. I highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Parmi les gyms que j’ai essayé à Ottawa, celui-ci est le mieux tenu. En général, les salles de conditionnement sont silencieuses bien que dernièrement, la musique dans le corridor de la salle de musculation vient perturber ce calme. Quant à moi, cette musique est totalement inutile. Les autres membres sont accueillants. Par contre, j’aime moins y aller les weekends parce qu’il y a trop de parents qui ne respectent pas les consignes quant à l’utilisation de la piscine, du tourbillon et du sauna

Fantastic experience: I come here fairly frequently for massages, and have nothing bad to say! The team here is excellent, the prices are quite reasonable, and the ability to relax in the pool/hot tub/sauna before and after one's massage is quite pleasant. I highly recommend coming here for a massage, or any other needs. (I am aware there is a fitness center but have never used it, although it seems quite well equipped).

Fantastic experience: Cant say enough about the set up and facilities offered at the westin. Pool was perfect for running some laps or bouncing around with kids. The exercise room was clean and the equipment was excellent. Very cool view of the city when running on treadmills. Access also to squash courts and a basketball court. Nice change rooms and fresh towels. Well done Westin.

Negative experience: Les gamins qui viennent se baigner avec les couches sous leurs maillot de bain....les parents en short ...aucun contrôle n'est fait sur les tenues...ya du chlore certes, mais qd même. Quand j'ai vu le gamin sortir du jacuzzi avec sa couche sous son maillot de bain....inutile de dire que je n'y ai pas mis les pieds !!!!!

Fantastic experience: I have herniated discs pinching nerves in my neck and lower back. I normally take nabilone for pain managment and alternating cortisone shots. I attened a confrnce for a week when I had forgotted my meds. A quick massage during lunch was able to get me back on my fee for the rest of the week. The worker was very knowlagable.

Fantastic experience: The westin health club is a fantastic place to get massages. I looked around Ottawa for a while before I found this place. They allow 15 minutes before your massage in order for you to get ready, use the washroom etc, so that you’re not rushed. Ive has massages with Michelle, Nicole and Elke, depending on what time I book, and are all very talented massage therapists. The facilities are also awesome.. they have a nice pool & very relaxing jacuzzi. And the gym is great. Would highly recommend! Have been for my birthday and other special occasions, when me and the boyfriend want to relax on a day off.

Negative experience: My daughter and I each had a massage. I asked for a relaxation massage but received nothing more than a gentle rub. There was no light kneading into my muscles at all. My daughter is a rugby player and asked for a full body therapeutic massage. All she received was an upper body light kneading that did nothing for her sore muscles. Her lower body was ignored. We were both disappointed, and while the RMTs were courteous and professional, the massage was sub-par. It’s a disgrace to have to pay for a bad massage.

That was 4 years ago and though the gym facility is an added bonus, the trained and educated massage therapists are exceptional. I've seen Michelle Moraes a few times now and couldn't be happier.

Positive experience: I'm an occasional user of this space primarily from the spa services angle. While access to the health club is included with a massage, the quality of the service to access the health club has gone down. A new company has taken over this part of the business. It used to include towels and a robe and someone would be at the desk at the 6th floor to greet you etc. Now massage is only 1 day a week (ok fine) but no robes or towels are offered and access card is collected from the front desk. Just not as smooth and welcoming and "spa service" as it used to be. The masseuse is absolutely lovely though, but she is at other locations too so...
