Fantastic experience: My son is thriving in his second year at Okaimi Kai, and I couldn't be happier with our choice. We sought a martial arts program after recognizing my son's behavioural challenges. Google placed Okaimi Kai at the top of my search results and registered him for a trial class without knowing the distance—despite being 48 km away—we took a leap of faith. To our delight, my son connected with Mr. Shihan Scott Campsall expressed a strong desire to continue, so here we are. The instructors at Okaimi Kai are not just friendly but genuinely invested in each student's success. Every class is filled with positive energy and enthusiasm! Okaimi Kai teaches more than just martial arts; they instill essential life skills such as respect, hard work, and goal-setting. Each student has tailored exercises and goals, promoting teamwork and camaraderie within the group. While the distance can be challenging, I wholeheartedly recommend Okaimi Kai to anyone seeking a nurturing and effective martial arts program.

Fantastic experience: We were new to karate, and did some research and asked around for people's honest opinions. After the amount of positive responses we got, we gave it a try and our son loves it. He's 14 and quite shy. After talking with Shihan Scott and Sensei Jennifer we knew we picked the absolute best dojo. They not only listened to our story, they and the other dojo members went above the expected to welcome our son in and make him feel comfortable. They are kind, thoughtful and extremely focused to each person's needs. They even noticed when our son missed a few weeks sick and reached out to us to check on him and when he returned they immediately let him know they were glad to see him back. It's the small things that matter and Okami Kai delivers. Fantastic experience: They make your child feel very safe and comfortable, they’re not only good with the kids but they’re also amazing with the parents. Fantastic experience: My kids have been training at Okami Kai for 1.5 year now (Karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and they look forward to coming to class to train and learn new techniques. Its essential that my kids are involved in martial arts, you'll never know when you need it. The teachers (Shihan and Sensei's) are great at what they do, they are very passionate in helping the kids succeed and teach the kids to be respectful, have self focus, discipline and do team work. The location is great,lots of parking spaces, the dojo is huge and clean and well equipped. Parents are welcome to watch their kids. I have recommended Okami Kai with my friends and will not stop doing so.

Our youngest has benefitted in so many ways from her Karate practise here, we cannot recommend the team more highly. Whatever your level, or your reason for joining, you will be welcomed with open arms, and encouraged to leap way beyond your boundaries, knowing you always have the support of the whole group behind you.

Fantastic experience: A good place to train, the people are nice and willing to help you as you progress. Sensei Scott is knowledgeable and is able to teach you his skills, also, Sensei Scott is very approachable for questions during class and or after class, he is more than happy to explain and or answer your questions.

Fantastic experience: I joined the fitness classes and found it has pushed me out of my comfort zone. Jennifer is very knowledgable, keeps the class motivated and makes us strive to reach our set goals effectively.

Fantastic experience: Okami Kai is a wonderful club. The teachers are supportive and motivating. They teach in an age-appropriate manner and are especially encouraging to new and young students. My children (10 and 12) have grown in confidence both in and out of the dojo in their time at Okami Kai. They are having fun and learning important life skills like perseverance and discipline. Fantastic experience: Our daughter has been a student at Okami Kai for approximately 1.5 years and my son will begin attending in October 2023. All instructors are positive and encouraging, while at the same time adamant each student works for their own success and growth. While the classes are “karate classes”, there is a lot more to learn from being a part of the Okami Kai Family. At first my daughter was shy and introverted, however, after spending 2 or 3 nights at the dojo for some time this has changed. Meeting and witnessing the maturity of the young adults (high school students) that are black belts, or almost black belts, is a testament to the Dojo, it’s leadership, and the lessons they teach. I can only hope my children gain the same experiences, development and growth that these students have. Shihan Scott is tough, but fair - and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Fantastic experience: I feel as though they teach my daughter life skills .. time management (be there on time) .. accountability ( you're responsible to learn the katas and earn you discipline stripe) you earn your belts... both at the dojo and at home (parents have to sign off discipline stripes) . Self confidence (be loud be aggressive) it's not just the karate (which is great by the way) the makes me want my daughter to continue but the life skills as well!

Fantastic experience: My 6yr old started at Okami Kai in April. She is strong-willed and refuses to go out of her comfort zone often, this martial arts centre is fantastic for her self-confidence and character. After a teary start she has excelled and the amazing work of Shehan and the team on Sensei's is clear to see! They support people of all ages and help them achieve their individual goals. I particularly like the way all belt levels are graded together and how everyone is supported and prepared through the weekly classes. My daughter is focussed on her next belt grading and is extremely driven to achieve this. The app with videos and everything we need to know is great. Our daughter practices at home and is very determined to honour their ethical standards. Fantastic experience: Our kids have been coming here since they were little. Scott and Jennifer are great and really care about the students. When my son first joined the Youth program, he was the youngest in the class and was extremely nervous and reluctant to participate. Scott's patience and encouragement helped him gain confidence in his abilities so that we could progress and excel. Our kids love karate and look forward to going every week!

Fantastic experience: As a new member of the Uxbridge community t his time last year I reached out to Okami Kai to start Jujitsu training as it was something I had been thinking about for years. Aaron the BJJ instructor is very informative and inclusive with new members, as he has done a great job bringing all us new adult white belts along. Thinking I was only going to go once a week, I find myself going 2-3 times a week because of how great the BJJ classes are. I also signed my son up for little dragons (3-6yrs) shortly afterwards. Over the last 6 months my son has improved his listening skills and focus based on the development of his skills in class. This has transferred over into his school as his teachers have noticed a difference in how attentitive he is now. I will be enrolling my daughter in this program as well once she is of age. My family will continue to be members of Okami Kai for the longterm.

Fantastic experience: If you’re looking for a martial arts facility in the Uxbridge/Port Perry area, this is the best place. It’s the most family friendly you’ll find. Clean facilities. Located inside of a huge gym with security at the front doors. Shihan Campsall (Master Instructor) is very knowledgeable in various martial arts. It’s a Karate Dojo but also includes Mixed Martial arts and practical self defence. He is always updating his knowledge in various forms of combat. I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do but learning a plethora of new mechanics in body movement. Also improved overall fitness to improve my game in other sports. Sign up with their trial and you’ll definitely become a member. Also everyone has a great humble attitude and is willing to help.

Fantastic experience: Okami Kai is a great place for kids and adults to learn a discipline in martial arts, nice and clean facility, friendly staff. Scott and Jennifer are great to work with. They go above and beyond to teach discipline and still make it fun for the kids. Great learning environment. Location is great as well, conveniently inside the gym ( bodyfit) I can either hit the gym or take the class myself while the kids are taking their class. Love that multiple disciplines are offered. We participate in Karate as well as Brazilian jui jitsu.

Fantastic experience: My son and daughter have been training at Okami Kai for over 10 years and love it. They have gained not only excellent martial arts skills, but a second family at the same time. My daughter is now off at university, but whenever she is home she can't wait to get back to the dojo. Okami Kai has taught my kids so many fantastic life skills - I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place for their kids to learn karate. Fantastic experience: As a fellow Personal Trainer, I always make sure that I participate in other Trainer's classes and "shadow" them when they train clients. It has helped me become a more knowledgeable trainer. With the recent "re-boot" of Body- Fits Fitness Classes and subsequent managing by Okami Kai Martial Arts and Fitness, it is EXACTLY what was needed to enhance existing class offerings, offer new ones and more importantly entice new members to join! I recently participated in the "Express Lunch HIT and Express Stretching" on Monday afternoons and found it very beneficial. Kudos for "thinking outside the dojo" and all the best with your new endeavor!

Fantastic experience: Joined Okami Kai in March of 2015. My 2 girls had started in January and rather than sit around on my 212lb butt, I decided to join them and get back into shape and shed a few lbs. Fast forward to today... At 55, I'm 165lbs and in better shape than when I was 25. My wife has now joined, so it is a family affair now. In the beginning for me it was about the physical aspect of training that motivated me to keep going. Over the last year though, martial arts has immersed itself into my every day being. Life has a way of throwing curve balls at you once in a while and this creates a lot of stress. Karate helps me to stay calm and focused. I have put it and physical exercise as my number 1 priority in my life. It makes everything else come together. Okami Kai is like a second family. I am honoured to know and train with so many extraordinary friends. This is a life long journey and I am becoming a better person because of it. Osu!

Fantastic experience: I started training at Okami Kai in 2002, with my then-young son Simon. It was his idea. We spent many happy hours together at the dojo, grading together all the way from white belt to black. He's since gone on to college and university; I've continued to train. This is a great place for adults, children and families together to find fitness, companionship, training and discipline. The atmosphere at Okami Kai helps participants to bring out the best in themselves and in others.

Fantastic experience: I joined Okami Kai in the fall of 2015. My main reason for joining was to participate in an activity that would allow me to stay active and that involved a group atmosphere. This is what I got and more! Scott is an amazing teacher and really cares about the people. I have always felt supported and yet challenged to grow and advance. The members are also an amazing group, all willing to help and provide whatever support is needed to meet my objectives. There are so many class hours as well making access and availability great for changing schedules and the usual things that occur in our lives every day.
