Fantastic experience: Good gym nice workers

Fantastic experience: I have never been to a gym before more than a day or two...and here I am now, 4 months and going. As a new person I asked a lot of questions the staff on duty, when trying to find out what works best for me, building a program, how to use equipment, etc Kate, Tanna, Noreen and the rest of the staff have been more than helpful. I do visit early afternoon when there is always lots of equipment to use....

Negative experience: This gym is pretty decrepit. It's wild to me how so much of the equipment looks and feels ancient, smells, is hard to use, etc. Also the microfibre towels that the staff go around replacing all the time is absolutely wild, why not just have paper towel? Mind you, I didn't see one other person wipe the equipment after using it, so maybe it was just me.

Positive experience: It’s okay, if you want to go to the gym a lot more this isn’t for you. It has all of the basic things, but there’s one of each. Like most gyms for some reason there’s too much cardio equipment.

Fantastic experience: Good food but steak was a little dry

Positive experience: I laughed at the other review a little bit- Not because he's wrong but if you don't know any better it's DEFINITELY the overwhelming impression that an uninitiated might have. I haven't ever seen anyone who was "extremely rude" (except people who know me lol) there but there's certainly 0 interest invested by the staff in anyone in there who isn't actively engaged in crossfit or personal training. People there barely look up from the computer when you come in... just enough to take your receipt or check that you drop off your membership card. I wouldn't dare ask anyone for help or to step away from the desk... it's not that kind of place. The place is basically unmonitored so if you don't know what you're doing I'd give it a miss. If you DO know what you're doing, and you're cheap... well then now we're catching our stride. Between the hours of about open to close it can drift from slammed (with 15 people in there) to abandoned. It's VERY busy in the morning at crazy o'clock but seems to settle down around 10am. It's pretty open from then until probably 3 and then it's a zoo again with a dozen people dog piled on one another- mostly junior high or hockey kids who like to congregate on a piece of machinery and talk. I could care less about that and push my way through but those who aren't accustomed to the culture may just stand in their corner and wait around arm in arm with the others. Did I mention there's not that much room in there (unless you come in at quiet time). Machines and free weights are stacked on top of one another and some of the weight stacks built on cages and benches are placed in such a way that you almost CERTAINLY will need physio or massage therapy in short order. The collars don't fit on the barbells properly so even when completely opened they don't make it easy for you. Mismatching dumbbells, poorly oiled machines that grab at you every chance they get... nothing excruciating- but the free weights and conventional machines are definitely in there as an afterthought. People practically spike weights in the end zone and nobody says anything... 50lbs weights drop like rain and staff doesn't even turn their head- despite a sign that says there is a physio clinic downstairs and please don't drop the weights. Meh- I'm not down there so what do I care... yet for some reason I do. Pick the wrong moment and you're taking a 50 pounder in the knee. BUT: If you're just looking for a place to go throw some weights around or put a few miles on a treadmill- even though the place sours me every time I go in the cardio stuff is in a pretty good state of repair. They'll be getting new stuff in soon judging by the fact there are "for sale" signs on the ones in place right now. No mention of them on their website and I can't be bothered to wrestle one of the staff into conversation. The dumbbell stacks do go up to 120 which is nice and for 8 bucks- not going to lie it's actually a pretty good deal. Motion Fitness is the other place within reach and they want $15 for a drop in- Unheard of if all you want to do is monkey on the hard stuff and dismiss all the hoity toity sauna / steam room / sushi bar / rub and tug treatment. Natural High has its place and if you want to hit and run then it has its place for 8 bucks a shot. So as I say in my rating though aspects of it annoy me no end- it's OKAY... but hold your expectations in check for service, kindness and support when you go in. You're DEFINITELY getting what you pay for but unfortunately it's the best deal in town.

Positive experience: I always liked this gym. The only thing I've ever disliked is that they are always closed on holidays, and they could really use a few different machines around there because the selection is pretty basic

Fantastic experience: This locally owned gym has a different feel than all the rest. Excellent classes, updated equipment and the perk of being in the recreation centre which gives access to all amenities such as swimming, sauna etc. Love it! I’m a lifer!

Fantastic experience: I had my hip replaced four years ago and just couldn't seem to stop limping, I went to Natural High last winter and had several sessions with Noreen and have now made a complete recovery. I can't say enough positive things about her and all the staff, to be pain free is a wonderful thing.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to this gym for 3 years now. I will never change gyms. Simply for the fact of a great atmosphere which incorporates a friendly staff, a reasonably priced membership, and an old school gym kinda feel. This gym is locally owned and doesn't have a commercialized feel to it. That is very important to me. At Natural High you are a person and not a number like most commercialized gyms I know. There is more than enough equipment and I've never had to compete for a machine.

Fantastic experience: The place to be for fitness equipment & classes. We have a family membership which then also includes access to the skating, swimming pool & gymnasium. Friendly & very knowledgeable team. Cutting edge equipment, fun & energizing!
