Fantastic experience: I come almost every weeknight, John the cleaner is super friendly and always working hard to keep everything clean and tidy!

Negative experience: World Gym has faced criticism for its lack of respect towards members and hidden fees. Customers have reported issues with uncommunicated charges that appear on their bills unexpectedly, leading to frustration and dissatisfaction. Additionally, the gym's customer service has been described as unresponsive and dismissive when addressing concerns or resolving disputes. Many members feel that the company prioritizes profits over customer care, which diminishes the overall experience. These negative aspects have contributed to a growing sentiment that World Gym does not live up to its promises of transparency and respect for its clientele.

Fantastic experience: Nice staff lots of equipment

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of world gym since March 2024, and I have nothing but nice things to say. The manager gives me a warm welcome each time I walk in. The equipment is clean and in very good condition. The membership price is reasonable and a good bang for your buck. The price for my first year is around 400(including startup fee, cheaper next year). The locker room has been clean since I joined(not sure why people are complaining about cleanliness of locker room). Overall a very solid gym, but the water does taste a little funny.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been at this gym for a couple years now. I specifically enjoy coming in the later hours when it’s less busy. John the cleaner is always working at this time and he always greets me with a smile. He works so hard to keep everything clean, especially the change room and workout areas. It doesn’t go unnoticed and really enhances my gym experience and workout.

Fantastic experience: Shout out to John!!! He’s always there late at night cleaning and every time me and my friends come to workout later at night he says hi and talks to us. He even remembers all of our names! He’s always working really hard to keep the gym clean and we appreciate it!

Positive experience: Good little gym. Gets a little too busy at times with all the high school students. Some rules only apply to certain people as well.

Negative experience: ******* UPDATE******* Keep an eye on your credit card! I cancelled a year ago and just now in May 2024 got charged $56.49 for who knows what. When I called they weren’t sure either but were going to look into it. Have not heard anything about it yet. ******* UPDATE ******* The only good thing about this gym is that the staff is super friendly. The gym is run down and smells of BO as soon as you walk in (yes people sweat, but no other gym smells this bad). The locker room is also run down and falling apart and just generally dirty. They tell you that you can’t cancel within the first month (which is not in the contract) and you have to still pay a maintenance fee (which goes to what exactly, I’m unsure) after you cancel your membership with no chance of not paying it. I don’t recommend this gym to anyone.

Positive experience: Value gym with lots of machines to use and friendly staff.

Fantastic experience: Cassidy was super helpful, kind and positive while signing me up :) Gym intimidation is a real thing, but she made me feel comfortable and excited to get things going! Given the gym is set up with multiple rooms (3 areas, each with their own purpose & equipment) it helps to dispurse people and ensures they're not all packed into 1 area, even during peak hours (5pm). Very affordable gym and great option especially for those looking to get their fitness journey started! Lots of parking and good size + amenities!

Positive experience: The price is good and the staff are generally friendly, but there's some things that definitely can alter your experience. Some of the cable machines tend to either be broken or get stuck very easily, and these problems tend to go unfixed for long periods of time. Also the studio room is potentially dangerous, please get some sort of dehumidifier for that room. When classes are taking place, the room gets hot now that they've removed the large fan. Because of this people are sweating much more and the room generally gets more moist, causing the floor to be much more slippery. There's been times I and many others have almost fallen because of the poor condition in there.

Negative experience: The back warm up/martial arts room really needs some sort of dehumidifier or fan like every other martial art gym. The floors in there end up feeling like an ice rink with how slippery they are, we're going here to practice fighting not skating. Not to mention the staff, besides one or two of the night workers, are just too busy on their phones or talking with friends to take anybody serious when we try bringing this up to them. Please think about the many people coming here for reasons other than throwing weight around.

Negative experience: DO NOT SIGN UP with this gym!!! Do NOT be attracted to their low rates or deals. There are hidden maintenance fees, yearly fees and cancellation policies that staff will NOT address with you when you sign up. They will take your credit card and just keep charging it. I have nothing to gain from it. There are better gyms in Guelph. Go anywhere else but here. Even if they are a bit more expensive, go there. This gym is gross, dirty and staff are always socializing instead of taking care of the gym. You’ll be greeted with a BIG stink of sweat. Old machines and sweaty spaces. Non existent customer service. Sign up elsewhere.

Negative experience: The gym stinks. The changerooms and washrooms are filthy. The Workers are always using the machines or socializing instead of maintaining the gym. Yes, its cheap, but with the amount of people joining the gym on a monthly basis the gym should at least have enough for basic maintenance and better staff. The machines make noise and some machines don't work at all. The only upgrade I've seen in the last 2 years are the Treadmills getting upgraded, probably the least urgent upgrade they could've made considering the place is damn near a biohazard. Guelph deserves better, please do better. If it means making the gym membership a little more expensive, so be it. Horrible Gym, consider elsewhere.

Negative experience: Been here for years. Never changes. I swear I don't know what the 2 yearly maintenance fees are for.!? Dirty, old. The changeroom is DISGUSTING... All.. the... Time. But for 15$ a month I guess they justify it that way. But still get some regular cleaners.

Negative experience: Not worth the price. The wi-fI doesn’t work properly. Your phone won’t have service in parts of the building. The bathroom is not clean or maintained. The sauna barely works. It always smells old and sweaty. The machines are not maintained well. Even when you tell them about a machine having an issue it won’t get fixed. They charge a maintenance fee yet it’s not maintained. They charge $45 late nsf fee. You have to give them 60 days notice to terminate your membership. At $60 a month you’re better off going to Fit4Less, at least you’ll know you’re paying for a trash quality gym.

Fantastic experience: Great value for the price. Huge gym w tons of options. Staff is friendly and helpful. People that workout here are there for a reason it's not a hugely social atmosphere which is what I was looking for

Fantastic experience: The best gym in Guelph! They have everything you need to work out for a beginner to a professional athlete. The staff is always friendly and accommodating!

Negative experience: The gym is close to my place good location. The only problem is over crowded and people sit on the machines staring at their phones so no one can use it. The showers are gross and the lockers need to be repaired.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to this gym 2-4 times a week off & on for the last few yrs & It's always a good time. Staff are very easy to talk to around the board, well kept & overall a good experience. Looking for a great place to gym?, that answer my friends world gym. Negative experience: Worst gym Companies I found ever. See once you no longer want them, They charged me 45$ everyday. Make sure you have to be everyday there. Otherwise, they would come up with there true face.

Positive experience: The gym gives a bodybuilding vibe. The staff are very friendly and always happy to help out. I definitely recommend this gym for beginners as well as experienced members. Has a variety of machines and a beautiful changing room with a sauna included in a regular 5$ biweekly membership.

Positive experience: Staff are friendly. Equipment is good enough for me. Facilities could be better but it is a budget gym so can't complain. I do wish that staff were more on top of members. Especially the same ones who leave their bags, bottles, opened cans of pre-workout, phones (the list goes on) lying anywhere and everywhere. There is not a day where I don't have to ask other people to move their stuff out of the way, off of equipment i want to use, or i just end up moving it myself. This is a pretty easy thing to fix. Just wish the staff were more on it.

Negative experience: Super slimy payment policies. When you want to cancel you have to give 2 months notice meaning that you’ll be paying for another 2 months after you decide to cancel. There’s also a bunch of hidden fees like “maintenance fees” which you still have to pay, EVEN WHEN YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS ON HOLD. They also have extremely incompetent staff and the gym doubled their prices within a year and a half. Do not go to this gym.

Negative experience: You have two row machines, but 1/2 of them has broken foot straps. Three cable fly stations but, 2/3 of those stations are poorly maintained, the left and right side aren’t equally balanced, so you’ll feel a tug on one side but not the other and the weights stick to each other. We pay a yearly maintenance fee, it is clear it does not go back into the business. Only pro, is that some of your staff are really great people.

Negative experience: worst gym ever. tried to cancel my membership and they told me i have to pay $100 for months i wont be there, at the same time refusing to end my membership. The gym itself is dirty and stinky with old equipment. worst gym in the world with scammy membership fees . avoid this place .

Positive experience: Great sized gym, never too busy and easy key card access. Does smell like a locker room at the entrance which can be kinda gross but otherwise perfect.

Negative experience: No one responded to any of my customer service concerns about my credit card for payments. Ignored emails, phone calls and in person I was told the "the person I need to talk to isn't here, come back later" at the end they just kept charging me fees upon fees and ignoring my requests. Finally on a day off I went in the sort it out and it cost me $300 more than a year's worth because people can't answer their email or phone or help me out at the front desk unless you're a certain person. This gym is a joke

Fantastic experience: I have been at this gym for just over 2 months now and I love it there. I went just to gain some muscle on my arms and I was told by the staff that I would have no problem building muscle from head to toe. I have lost 2 inchs off my waist and my whole body is getting stronger. Plus I'm saying good bye to that belly I had. Staff there is #1 Friendly and helpfull hands down. Great equipment, and lots of it. Clean. 24 HRS I give this gym a 10 Dan from Rockwood

Fantastic experience: As an older women trying to get back in shape this gym has been perfect. The personal trainer, Naveed, is full of knowledge and has redefined how I see health and fitness. I have lost 30 pounds and have never felt healthier. Thanks Achieve Fitness!

Fantastic experience: My experience at Achieve Fitness has been fantastic. It's a very well kept gym, the location is fantastic and the people are quite helpful. Habib is a wonderful owner and has personally got to know me and everyone working out there. I have never had such a personal experience anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: Everyone at the front desk is so nice and welcoming here, especially the dude with the dreadlocks—they always have a kind way about them. Plus Shaun is always really nice and personable too!

Fantastic experience: Wow!! I joined this gym in February and I'm so impressed by the facility and what this gym has to offer. They have everything from cardio, to free weights, strengh machines, sauna and of course personal training. The gym is much bigger inside then it appears from outside. They also offer child care and VIP members have access to hydromassage, tanning, and can work outside in the nice summer weather so awesome perks to being a VIP member! You are able to bring a guest ie friend or family member to work out for free when you go for your work out. I think it's only offered during their staffing hours. The staff are super friendly and helpful! The gym is really clean and well maintained, and they also offer sanatize spray and towel cloth to wipe your equipment down. Memebers are nice and genuine. Group fitness classes are awesome and instructors are amazing! For the low great price you pay, it's worth it! Love this gym and happy to be a member here. Keep up the great work here team, always look forward to my next work out! :)

Positive experience: Good gym has almost everything you need at a good price.one thing they don’t have that most gyms do and I really wish they did because a lot of ppl use them and most gyms do have are box’s for box jumps. Just boxes of any kind or size. Even wood crates would be helpful. They have no kinds of boxes at all and jumping onto benches isn’t very optimal.

Negative experience: UPDATE - Paid off the gym weeks ago - still receiving harassing robo calls - this company is outrageous - stay away unless you wish to be harassed. Called the gym, admitted the contract is over, paid in full and didn't know why I'm still being called with these incessant robo calls. The usual membership nightmare that I though used to be part of the past. Joined weeks before Covid hit, never visited gym at all and have been continually charged. When I tried to cancel due to Covid and the gym closed, they demanded the full years contract fees. Unbelievable. They refused even though the gym was closed and I had never visited having signed up 10 days before Covid hit. NO communication about how they were handling this. You can also not cancel your membership through your personal membership site account. They also do not provide receipts for payments unless you demand them and charge $25 per time for credit cards out of date, but do not inform you of this or contact you to request a new card - in sum, I had to pay fines and a full years membership even though I have never once visited this gym (in part as it was closed) or used my membership. Beware - once you have signed, it doesn't matter what happens, you will be forced to pay all charges or face World Gym placing a notice on your credit score.

Negative experience: I don't like the way they don't tell there customers about there is no head office when the first sign up or about when 2 people from the same household sign together with the same credit card. But according to them it is 2 different accounts. They should have a linked system for couples instead of individuals account's. Also they don't bother to call you when your account is in arrears. They choose to just charge you nsf and then say it is your fault not there. To me once this membership is up I will no longer go there. Unprofessional service from the employees only care about the money you owe them. Don't take blame upon themselves.

Negative experience: Don't sign up for this gym! My wife and I both signed up here when we were living in Guelph. The pandemic brought about lock down after lockdown and they put our payments on hold, great!. We signed up for a year commitment and when we moved out of the city I called to cancel our membership. It had been a year at this point. I called to cancel and the customer service rep told me we couldn't cancel because even though our contract said a year commitment, the fine print said 52 bi-weekly payments. Since Covid and Lockdowns happened they informed me that I can't cancel and payments would continue since they don't count the months where they were closed. This is dishonest and completely ridiculous. So now the company is squeezing us for every last drop of membership fee even though we are past a year and no where near a gym with no definitive end date. There are better gyms out there - stay away!

Negative experience: (1 star for the management... not the kind workers that I met there) They are really taking advantage of people during this time. I moved from Guelph in June and haven't been since and they have been the most selfish unprofessional gym I have ever experienced with helping me cancel my membership... To this day they are still stealing bi weekly payments from me after I talked to several people there about cancelling... I get that gyms are struggling right now, but they are gutless and ruthless..

Fantastic experience: Well, where to start? I have been a member at WorldGym Guelph location for over 4 years (back when they were achieve fitness) - same owner, and staff, and great facility. The staff is always friendly, informative, and going above and beyond to keep the facility well maintained. A special shout out to Sean, Thomas, Nick, and Del - these guys always have a smile on their face and are great store/brand representatives; these guys go above and beyond, especially during the pandemic where they opened up their muscle beach and dragged out equipment from inside the gym to use outside - this was a fantastic idea and great PR stunt/great way to show the customers how much you care about their health and wellness. Did I mention it was also free to use during this time? - Which brings me to my next point, the membership rates are definetly some of the most competitive, with supplemental tanning, massage bed, showers/sauna. The facility is HUGE, very clean, and has a massive variety of equipment (old school machines, newer machines, tones of free weights, squat racks, multipurpose room with boxing bags, weight belts, resistance bands, - basically anything you could need this place has it, and everything in between. Not only that, but the style/aesthetic to this place is one of the reasons I have preferred WorldGym over other gyms i.e goodlife, ymca etc. WorldGym has a back studio that plays rap, metallica/heavy metal, 2000's punk, and really has that grunge/old school bodybuilding mecca era vibe that I just LOVE. They also have a protein shake bar with delicious flavours. If you are looking for a gym for basically anything, I would most definetly recommend WORLDGYM.

I usually am in when Thomas is at the desk and he is extremely attentive, helpful and happy to assist with any questions! He brings a friendly and positive environment to the gym! I have been to many gyms and this one is by the far at the top of the list.

Fantastic experience: World Gym Guelph is the best gym I have been to in a long while. After flipping between a few gyms in the past, I found World Gym close to my job in Guelph! After my first visit, I realized very quickly that it was the perfect fit for me! The gym feels welcoming, non-judge mental and especially after opening from the covid-19 shut down feels incredibly hygienic, safe and clean! I recommend this gym to all of my friends and family, and though I live in KW I would much rather take the drive to Guelph on the weekends, or attend the gym after work. Very worth it!
