Fantastic experience: The lady’s at the desk were so helpful in answering all my questions no matter how silly they seemed! Can’t wait to get my gym membership here!!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have been members for over 10 years. All of the staff and maintenance people exhibit such a welcoming and positive attitude. Their welcome encourage us to “show up” and to complete our work out. Thank you

Positive experience: Staff is friendly. Clean but the building needs some tlc. Basketball nets have been immovable for at least 7 months. We play pb there and the basketball nets constantly interfer with play. No water stations near the gym.

Negative experience: This is supposed to be Canada YMCA’s Mission Statement (attached). The Gravenhurst organization is a non-contributor to the Gravenhurst community and the greater area. They operate as a for-profit gym, do not follow the organizations mission statement, and offer nothing beyond paid-access/membership. I will continue to lobby local government to take back this town-owned facility so the community can be better served.

Negative experience: Told my Brampton pass isn’t good here. Super rude. Couldn’t care less I drove an hour to come. Absurd

Negative experience: Extremely sad and disappointed. I wanted to bring my 9 year old son and 5 of his friends to the family swim. I called and spoke in person with a staff member working at the administration desk on 3 separate occasions 3-4 weeks prior to make sure this would not be a problem as we were travelling from Bracebridge. I was given a 1:4 ratio for kids to adults, told I had to have permission waivers signed by each parent/guardian, and to be there early to ensure a spot as space is limited. We arrived early with everything required and were told by a senior staff member that we would be unable to swim as the ratio was 1:2 and they did not have anyone to perform a swim test… even though there was a lifeguard on duty and other staff not willing to accommodate our predicament. A swim test should be made available. We walked away with 6 upset kids on my sons birthday after doing everything that was asked of us.

Fantastic experience: The Gravenhurst YMCA is fantastic. Amazing staff, great facility, and very accommodating. Yeah, you can get a gym membership a little cheaper, but you won't get as much. Also a huge shout out for the extra family swims over the holidays, even opening on New Year's Day 2025. We need more of these opportunities for kids in our community, thank you!

Fantastic experience: Awesome facility, very clean, organized and maintained. Two very large pools, tonnes of equipment and classes. Incredibly friendly staff, very courteous and helpful. Gwen and Cooper went above and beyond to make my experience a great one.

Negative experience: I have always been happy with the service, staff & overall the facility cleanliness and equipment at the Gravenhurst YMCA in the past, up until just today. My family and I came and paid for a day pass at the rate of $15, which is reasonable on the norm. Today however, we arrived @ 15:25 and were charged the full fee for what we had expected to be AT LEAST an hour, only to be mid changing into gym clothes to do a quick workout & then a shower, barely got gym tights on when there was an announcement over the P.A. System giving either a 20 or possibly a 15 minute till closing down reminder. TO SAY THE VERY LEAST, I WAS IN TOTAL SHOCK AND DISBELIEF THAT THEY’D CHARGE THAT ASTRONOMICAL AMOUNT OF MONEY, KNOWING FULL WELL OF THEIR CLOSING TIME AND NOT LET US KNOW OF THE LITTLE TIME LEFT AND OR AMMEND OUR DAILY PASS FEES BY 50%. We had no knowledge that they were only open for less then 30 minutes, instead charged us knowing that we OBVIOUSLY didn’t know, or we’d not pay for the day!! So when we decided to at least have a quick shower, the girl rudely kept coming into the change room about every 3-4 minutes interrupting us, and asking, “ how you ladies making out in here??” Finally after 3 interruptions I said, were clearly rushing as were being rudely rushed. I also made the point of saying that I found it to be bad business practice and very ridiculously ignorant to have done that to customers and not mention the closing time at our check-in and when charging us full price of day passes, she was snotty and remarked, we’ll remember that for the next time!! Like really??? We got tired of being rudely rushed and interrupted and then decided we aren’t going to rush as we paid for full price day pass and we were not going to rush around at warp speed as were being rushed and then bugged nonstop!! I’ll be putting a complaint and ask for some or even all of our money refunded back to us for such an ignorant and complete rip off!! So disgusted in the Gravenhurst YMCA today!!! P.S. I would have rather given NO STARS to my rating, BUT you must give at least one star in order to be able to write a review at all, AS there were no stars deserved whatsoever!! Shame on you YMCA, what a disgusting display of doing business and being very dishonest of the public!!

Positive experience: It’s a pretty nice facility, it’s maybe starting to get a little tired, but overall for watching hockey games it’s pretty good. Standard bleacher style benches.

Negative experience: $20 for a day pass or go to the other gym in town for $15 a month it's a no brainer. Ridiculous prices for a YMCA and they don't offer too much for the price. I grew up with the understanding that the YMCA was for the community and was supposed to be affordable I guess not here in Muskoka.

Fantastic experience: Awesome facility in the heart of Muskoka! The gym is great and the fitness centre has everything you need. Huge pool, and one of the few YMCAs with an ice pad!

Positive experience: The facility is very clean and modern, with friendly and attentive staff. Main points of criticism are the locker rooms, which feel outdated and small, but are usable. And the equipment, or lack of equipment. There is only a single flat barbell bench and a single squat rack, along with 2 standing cable pulleys.

Fantastic experience: I‘ve been training with YMCA Trainer, Matt Vaughan this summer and am very impressed by his deep knowledge and experience as well as his effective coaching style. Ive worked with a number of trainers rank him among the very best I’ve worked with. The Y gym is a new and well-equipped gym with both free weights and machines. Staff is super friendly and place is clean and well maintained. So if you are looking for a good gym with an excellent trainer, connect with Matt at the Gravenhurst Y.

Negative experience: You can never play basketball there’s always a different sport or it’s 3-9 so you basically get an hour to play basketball and upstairs doesn’t have any machines they just have the basic ones. The employees are very bad. Plus the vending machine is 5 dollars for a drink.

Positive experience: It’s very frustrating trying to get someone on the phone at the Gravenhurst Y

Positive experience: Every morning Monday to Friday I do my 1 mile walk on the treadmills, adding an incline at every 5th of a mile and one step faster...doing 5 miles a week since reopened in January.. Everyone is friendly, they leave you alone to do your workout..everyone wipes down their machine...lots of room, distancing, I feel totally safe...I watch them check the pool and alarms every morning before 7:00...Excellent facility.

Fantastic experience: Visited the vaccine clinic. Very clean, well organized and comfortable. Outside the sidewalk was well maintained and clear of ice and snow.

Fantastic experience: Got my booster shot here. I used the gym on site for about a year before moving. Great facility, friendly staff.

Negative experience: Please update your opening hours if they’re going to be materially different than what is posted on your Google Overview. I get it’s a pandemic requiring you to change your hours but this shouldn’t be the excuse provided as to why you couldn’t update what’s listed publicly. Further would be great if you accommodated working folks with the hours you are open. Closing at 3 on Monday’s and Friday’s essentially makes the gym inaccessible to those of us working on those days.

Positive experience: Well I am happy that things are getting back to normal but I pay for premium membership and there is know steam bath and can't just go to pool when I want to so I am not real happy. I paid for my membership in advance now they want you to come back and be a regular member with no refund for premium membership no thanks give me money back

Positive experience: Great place, great atmosphere and a fantastic addition to the community. I have a membership there, my only issue is that there is no weight scale to be found with the exception of in the men's change room.

Positive experience: Nice facility. Arena is warm, dressing rooms clean. Good pool. Concession stand could be better, especially the coffee.

Negative experience: This place can't seem to get there billing right. Been charged again for a service I don't use and this after a long battle in getting some one to help me the first time with the same problem. Not happy at all. How much of my time can you waist. It's been 3 months now and they just charged me again. They also forgot to do the refund to my credit card but added it to a second account they now opened in my name.

Positive experience: They have cut the hours back not opening as early and closing by 9pm which is not as convenient. Usually issues with the steam rooms not working, typically the women's. Staff are friendly. Always seem to be cleaning and keeping the place looking good. And they seem to add new equipment somewhat frequently which is a plus!

Negative experience: The facility is great. But the customer service philosophy is awful. They have no idea how much to charge for family open swim. Every day is a different value. I've had to argue almost every time my family and I go there. Also the pool scheduling is very limited and restricted. The absolute worst part is that they will do private bookings of the pool DURING open swim and not post it on the website. When you finally get there, after driving for 30 minutes, you learn you can't go in. The best part: "we posted it on the board, right here". I guess that's a good way of covering your back. It's also a great way of showing that you don't care about your customers that drive from outside of Gravenhurst. Not family oriented service. Especially if you have little children. I find that they cater to the older crowd.

Positive experience: Clean, friendly with great facilities. However, hours are limited for certain facilities due to scheduling.

Positive experience: Have been before but they seem to have changed their prices. I used to attend for a week or two in the fall during the hunting season and it was reasonable but now they only hand out day passes at 10 dollars a day. Way too expensive as that would have cost me 140 bucks which is loosely a third of my gym membership back home for the year.

Fantastic experience: Modern equipment, well laid out services for kids, large 4 lane lap pool at 81F; large spa pool at 91F; Adult and regular men's change rooms - adult has free towels and steam room. Adult and regular ladies change rooms; Family change room. Fabulous personnel both on staff and training. New programs every four months. We pinch ourselves that this facility is in Gravenhurst!

Fantastic experience: I love this place. My experiences get better and better each time I go. If your familiar with Goodlife Fitness or 24 Hour Fitness the equipment similar or better but the cost is cheaper. Staff are great and the people I have met there are always friendly.
