Strength Training & Equipment
Evolve Strength Downtown remains committed to strength sports, including Olympic lifting, powerlifting, and strongman. While we did downsize some equipment — such as the atlas stones and 300 lb sandbags — we certainly have not removed all of it. We continue to offer a wide range of specialized strength training tools, including the yoke, deadlifting platforms, sandbags, jerk blocks, and Eleiko combo racks. These changes were made thoughtfully to improve the layout and functionality of the gym for all members, without compromising our support for serious strength athletes.

Facility Maintenance
The claim that we’ve ignored a leaking shower in the women’s locker room for three years is not accurate. We take maintenance seriously and are proactive in identifying and addressing facility issues to ensure a clean, safe, and functional environment for all members. We continue to invest in equipment repairs and replacements to keep the facility in top condition.

Sponsorship & Investment
Our sponsorship of athletes reflects our ongoing support of the fitness and strength community. These partnerships do not come at the expense of equipment, member experience, or maintenance—they are part of our commitment to encouraging high performance while continuing to serve a broad community of lifters and gym-goers.

Trainer Dismissal
We understand the frustration around the removal of your trainer. However, this decision followed repeated and documented breaches of our code of conduct, including inappropriate behavior toward members. While this was not an easy decision—especially given the length of their time with us—we take the safety and comfort of our members seriously and apply our standards consistently to protect the gym community.

Communication & Staff
We strive to communicate clearly and respectfully with every member. If any past message felt impersonal, we apologize and are always open to having direct conversations to ensure concerns are properly addressed. While some staff turnover is natural in any organization, we are proud of our team and remain focused on maintaining a welcoming and professional environment at all levels.

We want to start by saying that we take allegations like this extremely seriously. As soon as this matter was brought to our attention, we conducted a thorough internal investigation, including reviewing hours of security footage and speaking with everyone involved.
The member also chose to escalate the matter to the police, and we fully cooperated with their investigation. Based on their guidance and in line with our corporate policy, we took all actions recommended by law enforcement and our leadership team to address the situation appropriately.

I appreciate your feedback; however, I believe some of the concerns raised are unfounded and may not accurately reflect the intentions behind management's decisions. I assume you are referring to Ian's Strongman club. Please note that any group class with over four participants cannot be accommodated during peak times. The Strongman group operated during these peak times on Monday and Wednesday evenings, which was in contrast to our guidelines. Over the past summer, we received numerous complaints regarding this issue and held several meetings with Ian to discuss options for aligning the group with our facility rules. Ultimately, the necessary changes were not consistently implemented, and it became clear that the group's schedule was not sustainable. We informed Ian that the group class cannot continue during peak times. However, there are always options for the club to train together outside of those peak busy hours. To be clear, all we have asked the club to do is follow the same guidelines for operating times that all other group classes follow. The management is committed to creating a positive environment for all members, including those in the Strongman club. Any changes to equipment access or club structure are aimed at enhancing the overall experience for everyone, not excluding any specific demographic. It’s important to recognize that adjustments in facility operations are often necessary to meet the evolving needs of our diverse community. The Strongman club has indeed fostered a supportive atmosphere, and that is valued by management. I encourage you to view these changes as an opportunity for growth rather than as a threat to the inclusive space we all cherish.
