Fantastic experience: Literally just leaving after my workout. I am not from the area or even the province and was looking for a gym in cornerbrook to squeeze in a workout. Lucky for me anytime fitness was under construction and I was fortunate enough to find CounterBalance on google. The reviews were stellar but didn't do this gym enough justice. By far the nicest gym I've been to. It has every machine I could want and then some. It was clean, not busy at time of visit and the staff were friendly. If I ever find myself back in Cornerbrook I will find myself back in this gym.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Counterbalance since the first day I moved to Corner Brook in 2018. The facility was awesome back then, but the renovations have made the gym even better - the vibes are immaculate, and the staff are wonderful.

Fantastic experience: I do not live in Corner Brook but I visit there often. I’ve worked out at every gym in town but after my first visit there, CounterBalance has become my go-to to keep my fitness routine on track. Counterbalance is hands down the cleanest, best-equipped facility with the best staffed hours in Corner Brook. What sets CounterBalance apart though are the additional services and amenities they offer. They have a knowledgable personal trainer staff that offer a wide range of coaching: from short 30 minute clinics to full on fitness and nutrition programming. The available towel service is a nice touch and their new infrared sauna with complimentary robe and slipper service is pure luxury after a hard training session! The always clean change rooms and marble showers add a touch of class and are greatly appreciated for those of us who work out on the go. With the rollout of their wellness studio in the coming months, I’m excited to see and take advantage of their upcoming offerings geared toward all aspects of wellness: mind, body and soul. Whether you’re local to Corner Brook or just passing through and looking for a place to get your sweat on, definitely check out CounterBalance: I promise you it won’t disappoint! Oh and my favorite part: plenty of squat racks so ZERO lineups during leg day! Keep up the fantastic work CounterBalance team!

Fantastic experience: Luxurious and clean. Counterbalance offers a large variety of up to date workout cardio equipment. It stays up to date with new trends and takes in a lot of clients while keeping a familial cozy feeling. Staff are always friendly to deal with, and trainers can be seen as a familiar face around the space often. I have lived across Canada, and spent time in many different gyms. Counterbalance has always been my favourite, and has shown me the best results. It is truly a gym that makes you want to come back and will keep you focused on your fitness goals.

Negative experience: This gym is way too crowded all the time; and they have way too many additional fees you have to pay for a finger print scan $25/one time payment, the app for the gym $10/one time payment, lockers $7/month or $5/day. I would understand paying for this if it was super luxury and less crowded but half of the time you spend at this gym is just waiting for equipment due to how many people come here and there are better gyms in corner Brook that have less equipment but it doesn’t matter as much because they have less people and they cost less.

Fantastic experience: Just the space I needed to get back at my fitness journey after 4 years. I was super nervous on my first day, especially going alone, but it didn't take long for me to loosen up. Love the variety of the new equipment!

Fantastic experience: Love this gym! It’s a great size, lots of brand new equipment, great staff and is the cleanest gym I’ve ever worked out in. I’ve been a member in every gym in Corner Brook and this gym is by far the best.

Negative experience: Not a bad gym, nice selection of equipment. There are no private areas the gym is just one medium-large sized room packed with equipment and people. The main problems with this business is their terms of service and contract you have to agree to access the gym. The first issue is the fact that the contract states that if there are any closures or shut downs they don't owe you anythin: "THAT FROM TIME TO TIME TRAINERIZE MAY REMOVE THE SITE OR CEASE PROVIDING THE SERVICE FOR INDEFINITE PERIODS OF TIME WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU, AND WITHOUT INCURRING ANY LIABILITY TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY." The limited liability is $100 max, which definately isn't enough when the regular 3 month all access membership is over $180. And also the contract says you waive your right to sue, and instead all disputes go to arbitration. Nobody reads the terms anyway, but the biggest thing that ticked me off is when I went looking for some sort of credit or accommodation after they shut down for half a month on of the employees told me they couldn't help me and that in the contract I'm not owed anything. One other thing I heard from a friend that when they were shut down a few years ago due to covid they were still asking their customers to keep paying for a membership, but they really didn't need it because they were getting a bunch of money and grants from the government. Once again my biggest gripe with the business is their scummy and unfair contract terms, that they expect nobody will read.

Negative experience: $37 for two weeks! Wow that's steep, it gets better when they demand another $25 for the luxury of signing up, and $10 to use a app(). $72+ taxes ($83) for a two week membership puts in in luxury gym territory, when it's just a hole in the wall with standard equipment. For added context, this would roughly be the cost of a 3 month membership in pretty much any other city in Canada. Let's hope the new rec center provides some real competition. It's wild how much places like this will overcharge just because they have a monopoly. Very sleezy and greedy owners taking advantage of the fact that locals pretty much have no other options.

Fantastic experience: Small and locally owned. Don’t be discouraged! This gym packs a punch. They have everything you need and enough space to accommodate most crowds, even during this Groundhog Day rolling covid restrictions world we are currently enduring… The equipment is always clean, and the staff are friendly. Renee always makes a point to greet regular customers and offers to help with anything you might need. The gym uses a finger print scanner for 24h access… She’s an annoying system. I say she, because I hear at least five times a visit that my access is denied and she can’t recognise my finger print! The price point is pretty much bang on what you’d expect to pay, though the contractual agreement is a bit stern. That being said, I do understand the need for this, especially come 1st of January when people go for a month and slowly fade away. I wish the gym had more cardio equipment, and maybe a few more specialised machines. But that’s just my personal preference. Oh, if you fancy wearing cologne, don’t do it here! Strict no smells policy in effect. Maybe post-covid, some fitness classes would be great!

Fantastic experience: I have been coming for 3 weeks and absolutely love it. It's very clean and the equipment is well spaced. Since I have MS I require some modifications, your gym has all the equipment and space needed. Love it!
