Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience at this facility, which I feel compelled to share. From the outset, there was a noticeable lack of customer service and professionalism. The representative I spoke with over the phone was rude, and I was taken aback by the request to provide credit card information over the phone. This felt highly unprofessional and gave the impression of a security risk, which is concerning when considering a membership. Upon arriving at the facility, I was surprised to find it nearly empty, with no one at the front desk to greet me. The lack of basic customer service etiquette and the absence of staff left a negative impression. Additionally, after reading through other reviews, I was perplexed by the business's response to negative feedback. Instead of addressing concerns in a constructive way, the response seemed overly defensive, even threatening legal action against members. If the feedback was truly inaccurate, a more appropriate response would have been an apology and an effort to connect with customers, not an aggressive rebuttal. Given my experience and the overall atmosphere at this gym, I cannot recommend it. There are many other gyms that offer more competitive pricing, a welcoming environment, and a strong sense of community. While I won’t name them here, I encourage potential members to explore their options.

Positive experience: Really good gym. Loses one star because they usually don’t use the ac unless it’s super hot. Open windows aren’t the same and create an uncomfortable environment to work out in.

Fantastic experience: It's a great gym, has everything you need, decent amount of benches near the free weights which go up to 150lbs and there some great, well-maintained machines as well (Hack Squat, Flat and Incline Machine presses etc.). Never had any issue with cleanliness or clutter, and the staff I've met have always been polite.

Negative experience: 0 STARS. IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS THIS WOULD BE THE PERFECT SPOT. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM BY ALL MEANS. THIS GYM IS INFESTED BY MULTIPLE INSECTS, AS THE GYM OWNER DOESN’T CLEAN ANYTHING WHATSOEVER. Alongside the BUGS and filth inside the gym, THERES ANIMALS! YES ANIMALS, they tend to come inside the facility because the gym owner doesn’t turn on the A/C and fans and results to opening doors and windows making it uncomfortably hot. NOT ONLY IS THERE AN ISSUE WITH THE GYM ITSELF BUT THE WOMEN at the front desk (SANDY) has no sense of respect when speaking to a customer and is never upfront with you about membership prices as she tends to add randomly fees. In conclusion, I would STRONGLY URGE everyone who values a clean and professional environment for their workouts to STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS GYM.

Positive experience: I love that this is not a chain gym and that it has a sauna. The gym itself is ok, I know a lot of people have a problem with the woman who owns it, but she seems nice enough. The only problem for me is the price, it's expensive! so sadly will have to find a cheaper gym when my membership expires. I'm really going to miss the sauna as there's nothing better after a workout.

Negative experience: I recently visited this gym, and it was an absolute disaster. The facility is overrun with animals—yes, animals! Dogs, cats, and even stray birds were wandering around while I was trying to work out. It felt like I was in a zoo rather than a place to get fit. To make matters worse, the gym owner clearly has no interest in cleanliness or maintenance. The equipment was filthy, covered in fur and dirt, and it was clear that the place hadn't been cleaned in ages. The whole experience was unhygienic and unpleasant. I would not recommend this gym to anyone who values a clean, professional environment for their workouts. If I could give this place a 0 stars I would. STAY AWAY!

There’s a women's gym upstairs that has a lot of great equipments such as smith machine, squat rack and so many weights and you can still access the downstairs gym. Sandy is an amazing manager, very understanding. Honestly the gym is more than worth it if you like to work out in peace. Thank you for providing a safe and productive environment to work out ❤️

Use that opportunity to improve your facility. Your customers and your bank account will thank you.)

Negative experience: They are nice to you when signing you up but are extremely rude the following week. They feel everybody who enters the gym is conning them and using somebody else's card to enter. They become extremely antagonistic to everyone who enters gym. Guys pls take an online course on customer service etiquette! It is a great community facility and well maintained

Negative experience: Was looking to switch gyms so I called them up. Front desk lady is whack and rude. I asked to inquire about memberships and she cut me off and hung up without offering help because she was “busy doing something”

Negative experience: I'm ashamed to say these people are very stingy. They turn off the AC and fans during summer. It is suffocating working in the gym. This must be reported to Health Canada for their negligent behaviour. On top of this why charge high fees $75+$20 card fees per month? What for do we pay such fees if you treat customers so poorly?

Negative experience: I started out at this gym 15 tears ago. The equipments are still the same, the only thing that’s different is the monthly fee. All these 5 star ratings gotta be fake. Same rude lady at the front. No privacy not even in the bathroom.

Negative experience: Expensive for the quality of machines and cleanliness. Terrible customer service, and the front lady is exceptionally bad at handling 100+ per month customers, almost like she doesn’t want anyone to go there… The price alone for the quality as said before makes this a bad pick anyway for your fitness needs and as much as I hate planet fitness, this is is literally worse then plant fitness.

Negative experience: For about a 1-2 years the gym has been telling me that they will extend their time to 10pm but they have still not done it. I have left the gym for that reason, the hours of operation are not suitable.

Negative experience: The lady at the front is very rude , i lost my card and went here to get new on Sunday during office hours but no one was at reception , so i called the posted contact number and she said come back later i am not at the office today , moreover she didn’t allow me to workout in-spite of having gym membership if she is not in the office during office hours who’s problem is that ? Nobody has the time to drive twice for no reason , very unprofessional behaviour . They charge 74 $ including tax if you take one month membership please don’t waste your time and money

Negative experience: I had the worst experience at this gym and the lady who sits at the front made it worse. She will interfere in anything. If you are doing exercise, she will come and say this is not how you do!! Like she is the trainer there. (How funny). Or if you are using the treadmill and you are running more than 20 minutes, she will come and say we don’t allow running more than 20 mins. Moreover, if you entered the gym and you got an emergency call and you have to leave and you decide to come later to complete your workout. She will say we allow one-time entry per day. How rubbish is all this!! Please save your time, money and energy from this gym. She has no manners and they charge you around $60+ tax and card fee on top of that. It’s more than 3x the fee of the other gyms like planet fitness, fit for less.

Positive experience: I’ve been coming to this gym consistently for a while now & thought I’d write a review. It’s a nice gym, usually not too busy, lots of weights, and has a cardio theatre. I would give a higher rating but sometimes there are issues with getting into the gym early in the morning. I prefer to go to the gym early mornings around 6-7am. The gym is suppose to be open at 5am, but occasionally, I feel a little too often sometimes you’ll wake up early, make your way to the gym and find that the entrance is locked. It is hard to get a hold of someone over the phone to open the doors a lot of the times, it can be annoying since you are ready for a workout before going to work or starting your day, but end up having your time wasted. Cleanliness could be a little better at this gym. Mirrors need a wipe and weights are scattered everywhere. Some equipment could use an update. Other than that decent gym to go to.

Fantastic experience: Everytime I go here the equipment I wanna use is always free and ready to use, which is great. This gym has a variety of dumbbell weights which range from 5 to 200 lbs and many plates for the barbels. Squat, bench and the deadlift area are free 90% of the time. The gym is also clean and well maintained. I have no complaints about this gym.

Positive experience: Love this gym! Quiet and not crowded at all. However, I usually use the second floor, and the barbell bar there is sort of broken. It's not safe to use so I hope they will change it soon as I use it for deadlifts, overhead press, overhead squat, and bench press. The barbell bar is not screwed properly, so I would always have to make sure that it's 'screwed' enough to not fall off. Overall, this gym is awesome!

Negative experience: Best business motto ever. "We don't need the business." Someone please tell me I'm still in Canada? They mop the floors while you workout. I'm sure its safety risk aside from the brutal smell from the old mop they use. The posted closing time of 11pm or 10pm do not apply at this gym they turn off the lights 45mins early. After complaining about the safety issue the owner and staff refuse that they are doing anything wrong. I forgot to mention they do not have a first aid kit on hand for the steep price you are paying. Rude and obnoxious owners resort to SPYING watching the gym cameras at home and then come into the gym yelling at clients for not putting away a simple dumbbell. Probably why this failing gym has been up for sale so many times. All in all the women OWNER needs to get her attitude in check. If you really doing so good get properly trained staff so you don't have to stand there watching everyone. So what if no one is interest in buying your gym when you list it for sale every year. I don't need your crappy attitude. Update: Went back nothing has changed.... Was offered a discount to give a 5 star rating meaning al the 5 stars reviews are fake lol. Farlo

Negative experience: After being a client of this gym for over 7 years. They have finally lost me as a customer. Every single year the rates have increased. I have every single receipt to show for it as well. I came in to renew my membership and was charged an even higher price than the year prior even after showing last year’s receipt I was told a small “discount” could be made if I paid cash. Very distrustful business practices. The increase in membership fees were not my problem, it was the integrity and care shown to such a long term client of the gym. I do not recommend this gym to anyone as for many hours as well there is no supervision within the premises either. Very unsafe. I am truly insulted having also referred many clients to the gym over the year, that this is the treatment I have received. I am not the same scared little high schooler who could be taken advantage of anymore. Stay away

Fantastic experience: I moved to the area two years ago. I had been going to Planet Fitness for almost a yea but I got tired of the crowds and waiting to use equipment. I had seen National Gym many times while driving by but never went to check it out. Actually, I did a google search and was turned off by the negative reviews, so that’s the reason why I didn’t bother to look into it any further. I joined for 6 months back in November after my friend recommended National Gym to me. I’m just writing this review to express my complete satisfaction with this gym. I’m able to go in very early (5am) to get a workout done before work. Even during evenings (around 7pm) I never have to wait for equipment. Their strength machines are really fantastic. The cardio section is good enough to get the job done. Their free weight section is spacious and I don’t have to wait for dumbbells…THIS IS REALLY FANTASTIC! The bathroom/shower/locker/sauna area is also very clean. I recommend this gym to anyone, whether a senior, student, or a bodybuilder. It’s got everything including flexible membership plans…you could do a 1/3/6 month membership or a year. I want to go on record and say that the staff have been very polite – contrary to what is written in many of these reviews. I just come in, scan my card, and sometimes get a “hi how are you?” or “have a nice day.” I’ve made a few friends at the gym, and some of them have been going here since 1998. WOW. I must say that they look very young and fit for their age. I’m just writing this to say that I’m glad I found this gym and I’m glad that it’s become a part of my daily routine. Fantastic experience: I recently got a 3 month membership at this gym, and I totally plan on extending it! I had been feeling really stressed, frustrated and groggy at home. With two daughters, things can get hectic, no doubt. I needed an outlet to help me cope with all of that, and this is where National Gym comes in. One thing to note, I had not been to a gym since October, 2012. I had went to Humber from 2015-2017 and once again, never used their gym facilities. I never considered myself a gym person, but times have been a bit rough, and I decided it was time to find a gym to go to. National Gym is conveniently located a 5 minute walk from my apartment. I have seen the gym numerous of times in the nearly 6 years I've lived in Rexdale, but never once went inside, until recently, of course. The gym is great. There's a homey feeling to it. It's never loud, it's never packed, even during peak hours. I really like this aspect. The gym's management are very nice people. Welcoming and accommodating. The gym has two floors; a main floor where men and women can work out alongside each other, and an upstairs section for strictly women only. This is really unique and fantastic at the same time, as there are some women that simply do not feel comfortable working out in front of men, for their own individual reasons. The past couple of times I've went to the gym, I went to the upstairs women section. Not because I feel uncomfortable on the main floor, but it feels more serene upstairs. The gym is well equipped with all the expected exercise equipment; treadmills, elliptical machines, bikes, abdominal/leg machines, free weights, and MORE! The gym's washrooms are really clean, and as a bonus, have showers and a sauna. The sauna would be good for those who are looking to soothe/relax sore muscles/tendons. The shower is good for those who don't want to leave the gym sweaty, especially if you'e headed out to work or school afterwards. There is abundant, free parking. Their hours are: Monday-Friday: 5 AM to 11 PM, and Saturday-Sunday: 7 AM-7 PM. If you're a person that likes to go to the gym after midnight, you won't be able to, here. For me, these hours are perfect because I have children and I never would have the desire to work out during those wee hours of the morning. All in all, I really like the gym. My biggest plus for the gym is that it's QUIET!! I'm sure it may have its noisy moments, but I've yet to see that. It doesn't have the ambience like Good Life or Planet Fitness, where there's a lot of human traffic, waiting to use machines, and poor customer service. The prices are very reasonable, too! If you want a quiet environment to work out, this is your gym, I've never been to a gym like this one!! Highly recommend!!!
