Fantastic experience: I’ve had a consistently positive experience at World Gym; the staff are amazing, especially Nam. Negative experience: I asked not to renew my membership, but my account was left active for over two years without my knowledge. Fast forward—my credit card had expired, my contact information was outdated, and I only found out when I received a collection notice. No communication in between. Extremely disappointing experience. Thanks, World Gym! Prior to the aforementioned “non-renewal”, I’ve been going to this gym since 2017.
Negative experience: This gym has horrible customer service. I decided to join with a personal trainer, amongst my training leaving (from poor management) I cancelled my membership. They took an addition two payments out, that I never received. My contract was paid out. A month later, I cancelled my membership for this reason and I moved to Edmonton where there is no location. I just realized they never cancelled it and have charged me $7 a week for two years. I just noticed, as it’s a small amount and it’s easy to miss. When I called the manager told me essentially that sucks and it’s not her fault the previous team member didn’t cancel my membership. So I’d be careful with your money with this gym.
Fantastic experience: It has everything you need. The staff keep it clean and the monthly rate is cheaper than average.

Fantastic experience: I was hesitant to join a new gym after my bad experiences with the staff at Gold's Gym, but the gentleman at the front desk won me over. Nam gave me a tour of the gym and was extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of the gym, from the equipment and classes to general workout tips. He then helped me sign up for a membership as I was quite impressed.

He is a very kind soul with an intuitive knowledge of the gym and their services and was able to give me all the information I need and more. Fantastic experience: I experienced some of the best customer service there the other day, I was instantly greeted by an employee named Nam, who was very polite and knew exactly how to get me to buy a membership, haha. In all seriousness he seemed to have a good grasp on health recommendations and lots of knowledge about exactly what I need to do to get back into an active state without overload myself at the beginning. Then he Let me know about there prices for anyone’s giving price range, not too mention they have a non hostile gym presence that has people who are just beginning or returning. Aswell as, customers who live for personal health. So no matter what level you’re at, you’ll feel welcome.

Negative experience: This has honestly been the worst gym experience I’ve ever had. I signed a one-year contract with World Gym, and it turns out you can’t just cancel—even if you have a valid reason like an injury. Three months into my membership, I told them I couldn’t continue because of serious back pain. But they still made me pay for the full year. Okay, fine, I get that it’s part of their cancellation policy. So I kept paying monthly until the end of the contract. Now I came in just to cancel my membership so I wouldn’t be charged for another year—and I find out there’s a cancellation fee. On top of that, they tell me my card hasn’t been charged for the past three months, and now I owe extra fees for that too. The worst part? I never got a single email, notice, or reminder that payments weren’t going through. Not a word from them. Honestly, the customer service is awful. It really feels like they just care about taking your money. No one checks in with you, no one gives you a heads-up if something’s wrong. They’re just interested in getting paid and moving on. And that’s not even mentioning the dirty washrooms, the grimy floors. It’s just disgusting. I’ll never come back to this gym, and I strongly recommend thinking twice before signing anything with them.
Negative experience: NoI experienced poor customer service during my time at the gym. The staff displayed a lack of respect in their communication with me, often coming across as disrespectful. On one occasion, I visited the gym with my mom, even though I was no longer a member. I requested to wait inside for her as it was snowing and cold outside, but they refused to let me stay. This experience highlighted significant issues in their customer care and attitude towards members and guests.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love the Thursday night Zumba class with Monica! The energy, the moves and the motivation to keep pushing myself .. just amazing. The music is a perfect match, making the workout both fun and challenging. Highly recommend it!!!
Fantastic experience: The Zumba instructors at World Gym Southland are all great, but MONICA takes us to a new level every class. She's got amazing skill, knowledge and style. The choreography is beautiful and the music slaps. Her class is the most fun I've had in 20 years of doing Zumba! WOW!
Positive experience: I do enjoy this location, staff is friendly and it’s never too busy when I’m around. Only cons; the boxelder bugs flying around and in the bathroom. It’s not crazy but It does feel icky (no it is not a dirty gym) and the taps in the bathroom seem to never work. Other than that, the price is reasonable and it is a good environment for anyone starting out.
Fantastic experience: Andrea was absolutely lovely. She gave me a very thorough tour, was knowledgeable, and even remembered my name when I came back later with my husband! Excited to join this gym. Excellent customer service.
Negative experience: Called here yesterday to ask about the membership plans, I asked them if I can come in and try out the gym. The person I was talking to agreed and told me that I will be given a gym tour and I can discuss the packages along with a gym session. Upon arriving, the front desk guy did not believe me and made me pay the drop in charges, didn’t even bother to discuss the gym plans and I was not even given a proper gym tour. We apologize for any miscommunication between your phone call yesterday and your visit today.
On the phone yesterday, the staff only mentioned a tour could be completed prior to explaining our membership options, there was no mention of a free workout. If this had been brought up, the staff would have informed you we do not offer free trials through staff in facility.
Unfortunately if only a workout was asked for today, the staff took the appropriate steps to get you into the facility to workout, on a paid drop in.

Negative experience: POOR MANAGEMENT OR NO MANAGEMENT AT ALL gym equipment had been missing grips for over a year. Water filter has been past due since Jan 19. Brought to staffs attention multiple times. Jan 27th. Still not changed. Equipment looks like it fell off the back of a truck. Will give the weekday hours are great. And memberships is relatively inexpensive. But I guess get what you pay for.

The water fountain is supplied via tap water. As per the City of Calgary, tap water does not need to be filtered for consumption. We are currently waiting on new filters from the supplier and will replace it as soon as we can. In the meantime, the water is the same as the water from your kitchen tap and ready to drink!
Anytime you see an issue on the floor, please let the staff know! Some items are able to be replaced immediately (like carabiners), whereas other items may take longer due to manufacture supply delays. We have tried to replace the grips on the pec fly, but due to the nature of the fit, they slide off with use and members do not return them to the front desk. We will however look into other options to add grips back onto the machine.
Negative experience: Women's bathroom is full of bugs. Bugs in the toilets, sinks, mirrors, everywhere. Disgusting!

Thankfully, boxelder bugs are harmless and are only in the gym due to current weather fluctuations. Our team is actively cleaning them up each hour, but if you do see them let someone know ASAP so we can clean them up.

Fantastic experience: -Staff’s service 10/10 -Equipments 9.5/10 -Floors 10/10 -Walls 10/10 -Ceiling 9/10 -Friends you’ve made along the way 10/10 -The overnights guy from April to January 100/10
Negative experience: This location is located below main level, so there is a flight of stairs up/down from main entrance. Overall ambience of the gym feels dingy, with dim lighting (with the exception of VIP Plus Zone & WGX studio). However it was pretty quiet/calm during my visit and didn’t need to wait for anyone else to finish with equipment (if you’re into that). It was my first and probably only visit to this location, after I discovered a bunch of insects inside the washroom, near the sinks, on the doors, dead on the ground, and ESPECIALLY above on the lighting screen. I felt the chills/shivers and was so paranoid of them getting on me. They were flying around inside the lights above. : - BUGS…. - The overall design and placement of the equipment/locker rooms seems very random and scattered(e.g. you’d expect men’s and women’s change rooms to be relatively close together, and near the entrance not like all the way at the back side). - No security latch upon entrance/exit like most other gyms - No protein shake bar - Not a lot of advanced machines out in the general use (non-VIP+) as I’ve seen but definitely offers something for most muscle groups (yes there’s some) - Offers amenities like the tanning, sauna, hydro massage, TV screens, WG merch etc. - VIP+ Zone does offer the more advanced equipment such as hex bar and many other deadlift bar types. Includes very heavy kettle balls, and even the lifting belts and other stretching bands. There are several benches available. You can do hip thrust, bench press ,deadlifts, squats, dead hangs and sled pushes all in peace in this area. - Overall cleanliness around the equipment is good, constantly cleaning and topping up the towels, and lots of garbage cans around (but I just feel sick when I think about showering or using the washroom here) - Very peaceful & chill with minimal “gym bros” (but personally I prefer having more people exercising around me, so how little people in here was a bit unsettling)

Unfortunately due to the warmer temperatures and Southland Tower's Management's neglect with insect preventative maintenance, they are moving into our space to overwinter. We are doing our best to mitigate box elder beetles inside our space until building management can spray the exterior in the spring. In the meantime, our staff are happy and eager to clean any stray, harmless beetles as they come into our space.

Fantastic experience: I would like to give a thumps up to our beautiful and amazing Zumba instructors. Monica and Svetlana are absolutely amazing Zumba instructors and beautiful human beings. Every class with them at World Gym Southland is filled with incredible energy, fun music, and moves that make you want to keep going. They make Zumba feel like a party and a workout, and it’s honestly therapy for both body and mind. Monica and Svetlana are a perfect fit for the gym, and I 100% recommend their classes to anyone looking for a boost of positivity, fitness, and joy.

Negative experience: Facility is fine - it’s a gym and it mostly has everything you need in a gym. Customer service/experience is horrible. I signed up through their website and within hours my credit card was stolen, charged a bunch of times, and locked down. So, as I am waiting for the new card my payment to World Gym fails and now I also owe them a $25 fee. I found out about the fee and failed payment just now when trying to go workout within my limited schedule. The front desk staff were not helpful in any way, frankly looked confused and unsure of what to do. But I wish they’d let me train at least, which they didn’t. The website has clearly some security issues that I wish they would address. Update: spoke to another front desk rep, and the experience was far better. They were actually helpful and made me aware that indeed one can pay with direct deposit.
Negative experience: As someone who has been a dedicated member for a few years now this gym is disappointing. Yes im fine with paying the maintenance/ cleaning fee and ive been a vip member for so long. But for anyone who reads this PLZ DONT GET VIP PLUS. Ur paying for a room full of bugs. They are everywhere!!! I really dont understand why i pay more for bugs. This is going on for 2 years in a row now! I dont think i signed the contract for bugs to be constantly on me!!!
Positive experience: The facility is perfect, but many guys just sit on the machines or benches, scrolling on their phones, which is frustrating. I had to wait 15 minutes for a guy to finish on the pec deck machine. I hope the management explains to members that this is a place for training—either train or let others do their workout.

Negative experience: Completely unprofessional staff members think it’s acceptable to come up and yell at members because “They are within their rights” even when they are not management. Threatening to use their general manager “to get what I deserve” but yet refusing to contact them. Maybe they should do background checks before hiring their staff. Extremely disappointing behaviour.
Positive experience: Just joined, and so far so good. A few drawbacks, like the cable stacks not having the incremental 2.5lb or 5lb free weight to add to the load, which most other gyms have. Also, the dumbbells are only 5lb increments, there are no 2.5lm increment weights at all. Same with barbells. Only 10 lb increments vs 5 and 10lb increments, like most other gyms. All of which makes things difficult, and potentially dangerous if you’re starting out, or a woman. Other than that, it’s quiet and a good gym.

Large gym with a lot of variety for working out. Amazing staff that are literally just THE BEST! You will leave this gym each day happy with a smile on your face. Also if you are looking for Personal Training, inquire about Kike Costa! (Short for Enrique, pronounced Key-Kay, not the slur for Jewish people before the internet comes at me) He is literally the best teacher, mentor, and gives amazing guidance. Negative experience: You get what you pay for here. Currently most the leg machines are broken. Seeing out of service signs at this gym everywhere is the norm. The one urinal in men’s washroom is usually out of service. Staff is friendly and you can get a workout in, but will have to be creative when machines are out of service… a lot
Positive experience: I have a very mixed fillings about the location, and the reason is: some staff members are extremely helpful and go above and beyond, but on the other hand the service others provide is far from being acceptable. Overall - that’s the most affordable rates for the gym around for sure.
Negative experience: Such a shame. We pay quarterly for cleaning. Yet I just did my work out and couldn't spend more than 5 min on cardio. Please clean the equipment. It's disgusting. Really too bad there is no place for the pictures I took.
Negative experience: Charged me for more than 3 months after my cancellation, and almost 7 months on, multiple attempts to get my refund, despite being told over the phone I will be refunded, I have NOT had my money refunded. Find a gym that respects their clients money.

I have been a member for over 7 years, and I explained to the front desk that I was getting a new visa card and would need some time before I could update my account, they said it was fine. But when I updated my card they charged me over a hundred dollars in “LateFees” around $40 a week (with no notice.) Girl at the front told me if I did not pay the fee or wanted to drop my membership, they would send it to collections. She had terrible customer service and was very mean about the situation.

Negative experience: Way to many "out of order" machines,some for over 2 months now, floor is always filthy same as the locker-room. Overall this gym has lot's of potential unfortunately is poorly managed. For now it's just a $5/week gym.

Actually stopped going to the gym because my noise cancelling headphones couldn't block out the ear torture. Please make a playlist approved by someone so she cant play her own music anymore. But she is very friendly. Her music is just a really unpleasant dubstep rave which is blasted and really low quality for some reason, its not the speakers. I dont want her to get in trouble because she is very nice and seems to do her job very well. I just want her music privileges revoked.

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym! This is my main go to gym for weight training. Love coming here as they have lots of equipment for different needs, especially in the VIP section. Great atmosphere with kind and helping front desk staff. People are often friendly but stay out of the way when you're putting your nose to the grindstone, which is necessary in a gym environment. Decent locker rooms with lock ups, toilets, and showers. My favourite is the hot sauna. Great to relax and get your sweat on. My only concern with the gym is I often find the water distribution to the only water refill station fails on occasion. Overall this gym has helped me to become a big strong boy. Highly recommend.
