Fantastic experience: The Abbey Centre is very clean, great facilities, and the staff is always very friendly.

Positive experience: Nice facility with a variety of workout , play, swim in the summer and a walking track on the top floor going around a 3 court multiple universal game area , I didn’t give it 5 stars because the walk I did around the track was very warm almost unbearable hot… maybe its been corrected?

Positive experience: Would get 5 but I go play pickleball and they have only 2 courts and more people than spots but there is a court for badminton that no one is using

Negative experience: Do you know what sucks!? When the phone lines will NEVER take you to a real person. It says push 0 which I have tried multiple times over the years and it just restarts menu selection. I complained and they told me it's not a problem. Well, I'm telling you it's been two years now and you still haven't fixed it. Your machine doesn't take me to talk to a person so I can't inquire about anything unless I choose the child minding option and then it's 50/50 someone picks up. So yeah, maybe fix that!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Kids love this outdoor pool setup with a couple water slides, lazy river, dive tank, hot tub and splash park the abbey centre has it all.

Fantastic experience: Fun outdoor pool! Slides are great and come out in relatively shallow water in one end of the pool. Adults are allowed to ride with their child if the child doesn't reach the height requirement. Family rate is not super expensive, but will cost extra if you have a large family. We had six total five kids and one adult all from the same house, had to pay the family rate plus pay for one child as an add-on. Parking is free but fills up on hot days so you may want to arrive early.

Fantastic experience: The Abbey center is a busy place the kids enjoyed it.

Negative experience: Great when it's open. But often has the slides closed. Make sure to call ahead or check their site and make sure everything's working.

Negative experience: I bought 2 wraps chicken Cesar and I found there bacon and we are Muslim, so we can’t eat bacon . One I took one bite and other was not touched and they refused to give back money I told them gave at least the 23$ from the chicken Caesars that was not touched they gust said sorry and took the two Caesars sandwich. Just I spend my money for nothing.

Negative experience: Better off to take a trip to Red deer. Rec center thats half the price cheaper for a family as well. Toddler can’t even move around in the hot tub without be told to sit down he’s was only floating. But they let teens argue and push in there. Hot tub is only warm not hot . Can’t even eat our snacks at the picnic tables outside where food is sold even though you bought food from there expensive concession with very small portions. Concession tables were absolutely filthy. Slides always closed as I was told which they were when I went. 4$ for a slushy and 10$ for half a handful or fries. Better spend your money elsewhere to actually enjoy your family time. We were not even there a hour we will stick with our location of reddeer from now on

Fantastic experience: The Abbey Centre is a state of the art recreational facility that offers a large gymnasium with ample room for multiple sporting events, a fitness room equipped with plenty of cardio machines and stretching areas. The outdoor aquatic playground is a must if you enjoy water slides or are bringing the family. Outside the building, there is an amphitheater for hosting events and a jungle gym for kids. The war memorial is worthy of respect. Take a moment and reflect on all that we enjoy from the efforts of the fallen soldiers.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful day when we went. The pool opened at 10am Friday and the 2 slides opened about half an hour after that. Quick, easy swim test gave the kids more freedom. Nephew was under 4 ft but is a better swimmer than older kids because of training and he had to go down the slide with someone older/an adult. The facility itself was clean, it wasn’t too busy, there’s a small lazy river and climbing wall, as well as a big dive tank and one diving board. The shallow area and splash park looked great too. Grandma was able to sit on a chair and parents lay on beach chairs. Bring your own lock or rent one out for lockers. Staff helped us with lunch ideas and were kind to all.

Fantastic experience: We have taken our 4 and 2 year old here quite a few times, and we love it!! Great slides, splash zone, and toddler area. We also love grabbing an ice cream cone while we are there at the little cafe. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: The lifeguards this year need to tone down and get off their high horse. Miserable. What I witnessed the other day was completely unacceptable.

Fantastic experience: The price is unbeatable, 1 dollar for a 2 year old! It was quite busy, which I've been told isn't always the case but my kiddo had fun either way! Good area for 0-4 and a big play arwa for bigger kids

Positive experience: The staff are super friendly which I love but It's a little frustrating for a regular going to their gym. The weights are all over the place the majority of time. I feel like I'm the only one putting them back. Not everyone can lift 45 pounds to get to the 10 pounds that's behind it. The hand sanitizer has been empty 3 consecutive times I've come after telling them that it's been empty twice. Just feel like the past 3 months or so it's been like this :(

Negative experience: There’s this one lady that sits at the desk I don’t know her name but one day I went to go use the bathroom after walking around for a little and as I’m going my friend is also in there washing her hands and so she leaves before I’m done waiting for me cause I’m about to flush and the the lady just swings the door open before I had even fully pulled up my pants and had accused me of vaping cause it smelled “fruity” to her stupid knowledge and also wouldn’t let me and my friend leave till we gave are first name and last name

Negative experience: Went here for the first time to use the badminton court and pool as my daughter wanted to swim but instead we were asked to leave because my daughter is 7 years old and I have to be in the pool with her. Unfortunately I didn’t bring my swimsuit. I stood by the side of the pool at arm’s reach while my daughter is at the side soaked in the 0.45m shallow pool. The lifeguard approached us and asked us to leave since I can’t go in the water. She said that it is their rule that the parent should be in the water with the child. I can respect the rule but her approached could have been less assertive. Her tone was authoritative and when my husband asked for her name she said that she is not a lifeguard and that she is the shift supervisor. Anyhow, I’m sure we’re NOT going back to this facility and definitely won’t renew my husband’s membership.

Fantastic experience: If anyone hasn't tried the child minding it's amazing they are so good with the kiddos! Chantels classes in the morning are amazing and might I add they are free with your admission/ membership , it's definitely motivated me and keeps me going Tha ks

Positive experience: Decent place to cool off with the kids. Great price and clean facility. I wish the kids' area had the waterslides going into a pool of water and not painful landing mats, lol. The center offers a lot of activities as well, like drop in basketball etc.

Positive experience: Very nice facility, and clean for the most part. Kids loved it. Wish we had one in our town. Also, great prices to get in. $20 for family of 4. No shade in or by chairs, though. Do not recommend canteen, food is decent but it took 45 mins for a grilled cheese and chicken wrap. Over all good experience.

Fantastic experience: They had the Alberta youth championships there for archery. It was amazing.... It would be great if the Abbey Center had an archery lane in it for people to come and shoot all the time?

Fantastic experience: It was pretty packed but my kids had FUN!!! The splash pad, kiddie pool, slides and hot tub were all a BLAST. After spending hours and hours under the sun and in the water we mellowed out at the indoor playroom. Even with half of Central Alberta at the pool their staff and lifeguards were IMPECCABLE.

Fantastic experience: INCREDIBLE! AMAZING!!! GREAT PRICE! 20$ for a family of 5. It has something for all ages even infants, a ton of lifeguards which is really nice and it's enclosed and the pool drop isn't too deep for taller 4+yr olds. Wish we lived closer so we could come weekly! Thanks to all the friendly staff.

Negative experience: BEYOND busy! It is way overcrowded, I could barely get around without bumping into someone or someone bumping into me. And I went on a weekday or I can't imagine what a weekend would be like. I even had times were people separated me and my toddler just by swimming between us. Would not go again anytime soon even though it is cheap to go.

Positive experience: So much fun! We stopped here on the way to Canmore and this may have been the highlight of the trip! The kids loved the outdoor pool and water slides!

Fantastic experience: Very nice outdoor pool! Been visiting for 5 years now and we were just there yesterday, and saw this awesome life guard saved an old woman. Kudos to this guy for acting fast. Will be back summer after summer.

Fantastic experience: A hot day so we scrapped the event we were at and headed to the pool to cool off. We were glad we did. There was a huge shallow pool for the youngsters. Deep pool, hot tub, water fountains and a lazy river. Only one of the 2 slides was open, but my niece really enjoyed and the lineup was not horrible long. The spray park wasn't going but it looked great. All of this was outside. We did not explore the rec center facilities inside. It looked like there were tons of things to go no matter your preference.

Positive experience: It was nice to find a reasonably priced family excursion option in Central Alberta. The family admission to the outdoor aquatic centre cost $20 for the five of us. Unfortunately, one of the two slides as well as the spray park were not working during our visit. However, the pool basins were still fun, and although busy, the centre wasn't crowded. The in-facility restaurant was okay, but expensive.

Positive experience: Best small town pool we've been to!! Waterslides are great and the play area is well designed & kid friendly! Downside: hundreds of towels on chairs, but not a single place to actually sit. Pool rules need to be changed regarding saving seats for hours on end while seniors sit on the bare concrete.

Positive experience: Admission fees are $20 per family (2 adults and all kids under 18) The waiting time is long. We waited for an hour before we were able to get in. The pool area is nice with lounge chairs. There’s a hot tub, slides, splashing area for kids and a separate deeper pool. Showers and changing rooms are available as well. Overall it was a good experience except for the long wait times.

Fantastic experience: I saw this on a friend's IG page and had to check it out! Well worth the drive! Less crowded, and I feel safer knowing the pools arent as deep and there were lifeguards who actually life guarded unlike Edmonton pools where lifeguards are often chit chatting with other employees than keeping an eye on folks. Only downside is the snackbar. A bit overpriced for food. Could have spent $50 here and had a kids feast of Costco food but I wanted to support the local inhouse kitchen. But after the quality of the food we got for the money we spent? Naw.

Fantastic experience: Advanced equipment and open space make the Abbey Centre a great environment to exercise. The quality of the fitness centre exceeds the average gym. The swimming pool and "moonwalker" style play area are fun for kids and parents.

Negative experience: Went during Christmas and the staff were super unfriendly, and unprofessional, we had all our required documentation to get in because of the covid requirements and they still didn't let us in. They discriminated against us medically which is unconstitutional and is completely unacceptable!

Fantastic experience: Great place for a small town with state of the art equipment and trainers, really nice running track and outdoor pool in the summer especially the large splash park for kid's and the cafeteria is a nice touch to the place, they even have day care so you can go and work out, plus two large gymnasium and more. Update for August 6 2021 every Thursday from 6:30pm to 7:30 at the outdoor entertainment area they have a different band playing for free to watch and there are some good ones I'm impressed with. What a lovely way to spend a relaxing evening, go to the farmers market for a drink and snack at the community hall and a few blocks up is the Abbey center to have a seat with your drink and snacks and enjoy some entertainment, very European like I'd say

Fantastic experience: It was a fun and relaxing day.

Positive experience: This place is great my only issues are young children are not allowed to go down the water slides unless they go on the knee of an adult and they are not allowed to use buoyancy aids. This causes 2 problems. It is well known it is more dangerous for people to slide together rather than individually but also when you get to the bottom of the slide and fall into the pool you either pull your child under the water or let go for them to struggle to stay afloat without a buoyancy device. I have been to many pools with water slides that allow my 3 year old to go down on their own with a life jacket. I can't understand why here they think there is less risk by not allowing the use of buoyancy aids over the risk someone might get stuck (I asked, this was the reply).

Positive experience: Made the 1.5 hour drive in from Camrose to bring my 2 yo. Son here for the day and so so glad I found this gem.... the pool was awesome for him nice and warm with a decent sized shallow area and spray features unfortunately the spray pad was closed as that was the main reason we came out but he had fun anyway. We also tried out the indoor playground which was nice because it was nearly empty , even though my son got stuck in the play structure and made me squeeze my fat but up in there to save him. There's also a little playground and outdoor gym right beside I'm not sure if it's part of the abbey center or not but the location was beautiful tucked into a corner surrounded by greenery. There's a walking/cycling trail down through the trees I didn't get the opportunity to explore that but another day for sure. Only complaint with that was the play structure wasn't accessible to my toddler but for older kids it would be fine we just played on the swing instead.

Positive experience: It's starting to get colder outside, so the pools were nicely heated. Me and my girl had fun on the slides. Even the little waiting pool was just nice to sit in and talk. Had a good time. Know nothing about food and if it's server there. It was also super nice that there was not a lot of kids. I would also like to point out Every single life gard that was working There is seriously rude and need to work on their people's skills. I get that you're a lifeguard and you shouldn't be talking to people and you're paying attention to the pool and kids in it. Dude there was 4 kids playing in the deep end and I was also treading in water in the deep end so she could have had a simple conversation with me while he was watching the kids. We were all swimming in the same area. They were all seriously rude and definitely need to work on their communication skills with customers. Oh yeah the front desk lady she was just awesome.

Fantastic experience: Great outdoor pool! Both waterslides are easy enough for somewhat younger children as you are allowed to take a child on your lap. We enjoyed the shallow pool as well as the outdoor hot tub. We'll definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: Just been here yesterday with my kids (5yrs old and 3yrs old) had wonderful play time. The pool area was clean and water temperature was well maintained with only two slides but yet had quite a few things to keep kids busy and enjoy every second spent here. Highly recommended!
