Negative experience: Green Room has been eliminated in favour of a women’s only space. Not against a women’s only space whatsoever, but the Green Room was a great place to come workout silently with more AC. Policy has also been updated to limit the amount of towels per person to 1 a person. This may be a problem for some people who use one towel to workout and one to do cardio afterwards. Sauna has also always been very sub-par if that matters to you (despite rumours it will be upgraded it never has been). For the price, with these recent changes, and considerations, it’s best to consider all of your options.

Negative experience: Super unfortunate about the green room change… I’ll be back when it fails

Fantastic experience: I have lived all over Canada, been bodybuilding for 11 years, and tried every gym you could name. AK is the BEST gym I have ever been to. They have all the best equipment you could get and its well maintained+clean. The cleaning staff are all very nice and do a great job. A dedicated posing room is so nice to have. Everyone is respectful in there and makes sure to give you space. And they have cardio on the top floor so I dont have to think about doing it lol. They have a womens only room which is great if you're shy. And they have child care. Washroom/change rooms are very large, clean, and even have hygiene products which is a nice touch. The clothing they have is fair priced and worth it. They have a wide range of supplements and energy drinks. I haven't had the food yet as its pretty expensive, but it looks good and has amazing macros. Plus Jordan is my favourite person ever. Im very to myself but he makes me come out of my shell. He makes me feel welcome and I always have a smile on my face before I workout. I do wish more of the gym flooring was rubber mats because my feet slip all the time. But thats the only con I can think of. But they make up for it as first responders and military get a discount

Negative experience: I’ve been a member for a few years now. When I asked this morning (Thursday-6am) for a second towel the front desk staff said they only provide one per member. The odd time I’ll ask for 2 as the towels are so over-washed they feel like paper towel that’s why I asked for a second one, which they usually accommodate. This time was different, and when I said I was going to cancel my membership because of that, the front desk staff said “Sounds like a plan.” with no hesitation. I wonder if a second towel costs more than the $100 monthly fee they’re collecting from me. I’ll be joining Pure Athletic as of next week.

Fantastic experience: I can honestly say it’s been an incredible experience! The facilities are top-notch—spotless, spacious, and equipped with all the latest gear. Negative experience: I came to the gym with my friend to try out the gym. They wouldn’t let me in for a free trial and they said it was only free tomorrow. They have lost the chance for me to join and anyone I know. We were more than welcomed to have a free trial at pure athletic club instead and had a great time!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Athletic Kulture almost every day for a while now and honestly, I love it. Everyone’s friendly, it’s clean, and the staff are great. Big shoutout to Tyler and JR for always keeping the energy up and being genuinely good people. I don’t think I’d be dragging myself to the gym at 5am if it wasn’t for this place.

Positive experience: I have tried almost every commercial gym in Barrie (LA, GoodLife, fit4less etc.), so this time I decided to try private and Athletic Kulture really is a step above. The facilities are always well maintained and clean, the staff is friendly, the equipment is great, there’s literally a machine for every muscle you can think of, and I’ve been at all times during the day (morning, afternoon and night) and it never feels super crowded or pushy. My one downside is there’s usually someone filming/ taking photos. Whether it’s an influencer with a tripod or a professional film/photo crew doing advertising, as someone who’s a little more self conscious it can feel like a game of “dodge the camera” somedays. Overall the best gym I’ve been to in Barrie and highly recommend giving it a try!

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym easily the best gym in Barrie and worth coming to in every way. Good community staff and trainers can confidently say coming to a gym with high quality equipment and atmosphere makes it feel like an second home and Would have not had the same enjoyment in my fitness journey if I had picked any other gym no other gym stands out in the way athletic Kulture does.

Fantastic experience: The staff and the gymgoers here are all great people. The price is on the higher end, but for what else is available in town, it's pretty well justified and represents a good value. I think if you place importance on the quality of your workout, there isn't a better place to be. The gym is exceptionally clean as well.

Negative experience: I have a week off for the holidays and I decided to try out a few of the big gyms over my break. I came into Athletic Kulture today to try out their facility and I got rejected. They are keeping the gym to members only for this day, nothing was posted online or on their social media about this. I drove over an hour and a half to get here and now I have to drive all the way back. I respect reducing the gym to members only keep out all the “new years resolutions” or whatever but at least publicly display it so I don’t have to waste my time. Hopefully I can enjoy this gym in the near future.

Positive experience: It's a great gym. Worth the price if you use the tanning phcilaty. I do not use it, so it's too overpriced

Negative experience: Terrible customer service, never reply their emails , can't speak to anyone management wise in person "everything is done online " there's no way to cancel my membership without having them reply my email(how convenient), have been trying to get a hold of someone through email and in person for over a month , for the amount of money they bring in you'd think their facilities would be better reshape , equipment is worn and faulty and they never care to replace it .

Positive experience: I currently have a membership paying $15/month at the purple and yellow place (you know which one) and for various reasons I wanted to try something different and better suited to me. I bought a day pass to AK and Amy at the front desk was pleasant and answered all my questions and was happy to help. When I first walked onto the workout floor I couldn't help but feel really intimidated by all the machines and intermediate gym goers (and I'm not a newby at a gym but I'm also not the bodybuilder type either) just to put things into perspective. That feeling wore off pretty quickly as I got acclimated to the new/better vibe and environment. I must say that I was super impressed about the cleanliness of the gym and the men's lockerroom, better than any other gym I've been to. The only gripe I have and reason why I rated it a 4 star instead of 5 is obviously due to the price of $100/month with no other membership level to choose from. I do understand it is a business and it's obvious the membership prices reflect the quality of amenities and machines, I just wished you guys had a lower level option that didn't include, say, towel service and tanning for example and making the bi-weekly fee $35 (or even $75 monthly). A lot of pros for sure but I'd love to see more membership options with less amenities included. I asked about getting a few friends together and joining AK to see if that would lower the cost but apparently it changed and that discount is now only for people who live at the same residence now. All in all, it's a top notch gym and community I'd love to be a member at someday, I just hope there will be a promotion in the near future to be able to join. Keep up the good work AK!

Fantastic experience: I was a member at La Fitness for 8 + years before making the switch to AK. The music is insanely GOOD, even better than my own! AK is a clean, dark, cool air conditioned place with ample space to perform. This kukture is “in the zone hard working”. You don’t see too many people standing around you see everyone working hard on their own goals and that’s what I love. At first I was intimated of working at Ak because of all the equipment, but the staff and everyone at AK help make you comfortable and make the transition so easy. I can not stress enough how amazing this gym is, they literally have everything to help take you from mediocre to extraordinary. 24/7 gym makes it even easier and takes the worry away. Make the switch today you will not be disappointed!

Fantastic experience: First time there today, Staff was so kind from when I entered and got me a $34 day pass. I was only here for a day, everyone in the gym seemed nice and super switched on. I recorded few clips of my content and it was easy to navigate the gym and it’s so huge.. amazing equipments, lots of space and they even had a posing room. When I left the staff was so kind and warmed up my post workout meal. I even took advantange of their supp shop and got some cream of rice. this is the gym you wanna be a member of if u live in the area. Will def be back

Fantastic experience: I love everything about this gym. The staff is always amazing and helpful, the smoothie bar is 24/7! It is a huge gym so even during peak hrs you're able to find a nice spot to work out. The atmosphere is really motivating and professional, you really wanna be there everyday.

Fantastic experience: Outstanding gym with outstanding staff. Always brining in new equipment and keeping things up to date. Wide variety of supplement’s and snacks. If you’re in before 6am, Jordan is a great way to start your day, always smiles and positivity!

Negative experience: You can’t workout anywhere in the gym without someone being within 4-6ft of you, until recently upstairs allowed more space now they have more equipment upstairs eliminating the ability to use free weights if someone is using said equipment. When I first joined I loved it, the cafe was reasonably priced and offered breakfast and healthy snacks now it’s just sweets and dinner meals (unfortunately now it’s pretty expensive $18 for a meal). They had classes in the green room which is no longer a thing as they only lasted a very short period. If you don’t have any regard for personal space and enjoy using lots of different machines then this gym would work for you as long as you don't mind strategically navigating around the equipment especially when it’s in use as it will come into your walking path. There’s minimal room for stretching due to equipment overload, people workout on the stretching turf often which I don’t blame them for as there’s ZERO opportunity to have personal space even off of peak times. They're also only open 24/7 when it’s not a holiday/long weekend which is a huge downside for shift workers, compared to other 24/7 gyms. Their definition of “24/6” during holidays if offering very limited hours on holidays and the days just before. But I will say it’s a very clean gym.

Fantastic experience: This past weekend I had the pleasure of visiting Athletic Kulture Barrie for a 3 day pass, like any (in)sane person would given the opportunity I went each one of those 3 days (twice a day) to get the most out of this experience and hit everything I could, To say my expectations were met is a understatement, from the variety of machines to clean gym and professional atmosphere I was beyond impressed, the gym’s equipment choices were clearly made not by just a company trying to open a gym but a team of experienced athletes who know what machines your average lifter wants. The supplement store and upper mezzanine area with cardio equipment, a quieter free weights zone and “posing room” are additions to AK that bring this facility one step above the rest, If you are in Barrie I would 100% recommend checking out this amazing facility, I know I look forward to making it a regular part of my fitness routine,

Negative experience: Regret to give one star. Coz i loved this gym. Been with them for few years. Had an incident 2-3 days ago where a new roommate used my membership card without my knowledge twice. I called the gym the next day and wrote an email explained them. But they still decide to ban me instead. Expected management to be a little understanding. Even offered to pay them for 2 day passes for the time he used my card. I know it’s against rule but it happened when i wasn’t even aware about it. Thankyou

Fantastic experience: Easily my favorite gym in the gta/simcoe area! It has its flaws but if it wasn't for the great staff, environment and equipment i’d probably give it a 4. Some consecutive criticism; The saunas are pretty bad, too cold and too small, mens one has been broken for month's. Definitely a residential sauna, not meant for commercial use imo. Not enough water fountains/warm water (nbd tbh) Biggest issue being the Prices, i miss the $60 basic plan and $80 for the tanning/towel’s. Considering a lot of ppl don't tan and shower at home, or bring a towel (like my self) it doesn't seem worth it. Luckily i got it at a good deal back in early days but my gf wont join because $100 a month is a little much considering the cost to hit macros is already insane now a days

Fantastic experience: I've been working out at AK since they opened and have been loving it! I worked out here comfortably during my whole pregnancy and have returned now post partum. My son has been attending their youth care since he was 4 months old, this was the first place I ever left him without family and has been loving every second of it. I always pick him up with a big smile on his face and the girls make you feel so comfortable with leaving your baby there!

Fantastic experience: Goodlife closed. Been a member for 12 years. Been seeing AK through friends on Insta, decided to come by late tonight and I met J.R at the front desk. Very welcoming, professional and awesome. Joined right away. The smoothie bar open 24/7 is fantastic. Gym is awesome, equipment is great. 5 star.

It's a club with a lot of very strong athletes who are just looking to get social and work out. Big names like Mitchell hooper, whom I worked out with once before. Always playing great music and amazing helpful staff. If you're ever in Barrie, check this gym out.
