Fantastic experience: I love this place! I’ve never felt so comfortable at a gym before. The staff is great, classes are great, gym is very clean. The owner is super nice! I’ve been training with Wendy for 6 months now, and she is so so awesome. The care and dedication she puts in to her job and her clients is so admirable. She’s changed my mindset completely for the better and made me feel strong + confident. 5 stars highly recommend!!!!! :)

Fantastic experience: This gym is phenomenal. Staff are all super friendly, the facilities are clean, the equipment is well maintained, and there is a great variety of equipment on the floor. The variety, quantity and quality of the classes is super. The instructors are amazing (special shout outs for Wendy, Shannon and Ruthy!!). The thing I love the most about this gym though is the community, it is so welcoming, non-judgmental and supportive.

Fantastic experience: I think this is the place. Great crew of staff, really supportive trainers, and the classes are super fun and challenging no matter what level or stage in your health journey you are. Clean facilities, none of the meat heads or posers you get at bigger gyms. Great environment for all.

Fantastic experience: Urban Athlete is a fantastic gym. I have been a member from year 1. The fitness trainers are great motivators. There are no weak links. Classes are great and are never boring. The trainers bring it 100 percent each time. Erica, Wendy, Shannon, Dara, Karly, Ruth , Iskander, etc. All are fantastic. Lots of options for members: Classes(Spin, Yoga, Strength training, Pilates, boxing,etc); personal trainers; or self guided fitness. Lots of equipments in great working conditions. Fantastic experience: Awesome gym, very welcoming atmosphere! My coworkers and I joined the booty class for a while it was so fun! I saw Dara for 3 personal training sessions before getting married and she was very adaptable to my schedule, accommodating if I wanted to zoom workout at home or in person, personable, full of energy and knowledge and most definitely patience! My workouts were very unique to me, I have never felt more confident with my body and was so happy with the overall experience :)

Fantastic experience: I was in Calgary for a couple months and needed a gym so gave this place a shot. Had everything I needed but it is a small space. Never all that crowded though and everyone gives each other space so it wasnt an issue. Classes and staff were very good. Lockers and showers in the change room.

Positive experience: Great little gym but drop-in fee is pretty high ($23 per person per visit). Would be great if there were drop in bundles - like three days or one week of drop-ins for folks just visiting and needing a place to workout. Gym is pretty small but they make great use of the space and have almost all the equipment you need. Really really quiet between 6-7 which is nice.

Fantastic experience: Urban Athlete is a great local gym runs by open-minded people who truly care about their members. This gym makes you feel you are part of the community. Both the staffs and members have great vibes and friendly. The place and equipment are clean and the members also treat them with care. It comes from community as one mentality. I enjoy their group classes as their instructors keep challenge you all the time. If you feel the exercises from their classes are easy, you are doing wrong. As one of their members, I feel appreciated!

Fantastic experience: I have really enjoyed my experience at Urban Athlete so far. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly, they remember you by name and if you’re lucky you'll be greeted by the cutest ambassador, Marvin. The gym itself is small but clean and well laid out, with a lot of machines and equipment. Great selection of fitness classes at convenient times. My trainer Cory is incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging. I would recommend this gym to anyone!

Fantastic experience: I did three personal training sessions with Hugo Salazar and I absolutely loved it!! He was knowledgeable, patient, fun, and really helped me with my form and with creating a work out plan for the long term. I’d highly recommend him to anyone, even if they only do a session or two you do learn a lot from it. The gym itself is also very clean, the staff is all very friendly, and it is never too crowded, which is fantastic.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been looking for a local gym that provides fitness classes and a great gym. I found it here! Every time I walk in I feel welcomed and part of their community. The classes are fun and provide excellent instruction. The gym is compact but is well equipped and clean. I’m thrilled with this gem in Sunnyside.

I recently started working out with one of their trainers, who was amazing in helping me achieve my fitness goals and get me back to safely lifting weights after a big shoulder injury. Fantastic experience: I became a member at Urban Athlete just before the pandemic. I wanted a smaller, more conscious community-minded gym and this is exactly what I got at Urban! The entire experience from trying the gym for a week, to the unlimited virtual and in-person classes, to the great friendly, knowledgeable trainers, to the free towel service, to the yummy smoothie bar and great supportive products they sell, to the incredible front desk staff...the insanely clean environment... You NEED to come check it out- you will NOT be disappointed!!

Fantastic experience: Urban Athlete is an excellent gym that checks the box in many key areas.  I'm always impressed with the welcoming feel from the owners and staff. I joined 5 months ago and started training with Cory who I definitely recommend. Cory is very knowledgeable, passionate and motivating, but never strays from having safety as the priority. I always appreciated him checking in prior to our session in case adjustments needed to be made.  It was a pleasure working with him while getting back on track. I'm looking forward to taking advantage of the many clasess offered. The instructors all seem amazing which is evident based on the energy level coming though the studio doors during a class.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love the classes and instructors at Urban Athlete! Shahinda's Cardio and Strength classes on Zoom are creative, engaging, and definitely killer if you keep up! She also gives good alternative moves. Wendy's core workouts on Monday are not only awesome, but she cracks me up with her enthusiastic sense of humour. Who knew abs could be fun? Lastly, my wife and i love Cindy's yoga classes. She is a master of flow, and is such a great spirit, that every class makes us feel better, inside and out. Fantastic experience: Excellent gym! A tremendous sense of commmunity and comaraderie! Manager Kohl Kehler is extremely approachable and leads a very friendly and efficient team. I recently had a private fitness session with trainer, Cory Maystrowich It was outstanding. He knows his stuff... and is one of the best listeners I've met (both inside and outside of the gym). No wonder Cory was highlighted in Impact magazine as one of the best fitness trainers in western Canada. I'd highly recommend Urban Athlete Fitness Studio AND a training session with Cory.

Fantastic experience: Here’s my experience, if anyone is ever thinking of trying a class at Urban Athlete Fitness Calgary, my suggestion is to try Wendy’s Core Class. I attended the Monday noon class and it was awesome. The class was fun, vibrant, quirky, motivating, positive and upbeat. The work was challenging and the class was filled with participants of all levels. Wendy’s passion and energy was really felt, as she used positive reinforcements and “imagery visualizations” with terrific descriptions to help with the mind and body connections. Being a trainer myself, I understand the importance of having people get the exercises by feeling them correctly, and Wendy was very helpful. It’s a terrific feeling to be welcomed with a bubbling hello upon arrival and a Thank-you at the end. Thanks Wendy, it’s awesome to be working alongside someone who is inspiring, filled with positive energy and really cares. ✊️

Fantastic experience: Best gym experience I’ve ever had. It’s a smaller size, I’ve never had to wait for equipment, and staff is beyond friendly and inviting.

Negative experience: I’d like to try it out but cannot. They need to get their booking systems sorted out. The online payment only accepts some credit cards, but doesn’t tell you which ones.

Fantastic experience: Tried the new outdoor set-up...it was great! This is a well-equipped, extremely clean, and well-maintained fitness studio with excellent, friendly staff and management. I love it!

Fantastic experience: It's really nice to see a few young entrepreneurs keep rolling with the turbulent times of COVID. To see the grit and determination they have to provide a service that clearly matters to them. And to do it with a smile on their face, really brings meaning to working out. You can get your sweat on anywhere but my workout here was simple but very meaningful. Keep up the great work!!!

Fantastic experience: Where do I even begin, a few years ago I wanted to start working out so my dad found a gym for me, that gym was Urban, they have the nicest people, they are always happy to see you, they always chat and talk to you they make you feel welcome, whenever you ask for help they are always there to help you right when you ask for help, when you are resting in between breaks they are always there to give you advice and how to improve for your next set. I've had long talks with a lot of the trainers before I leave for the day. Even during Covid times I felt super safe because there was always someone walking around sanitizing everything even the people who are working out sanitize a lot. Oh and there's a very cute dog that roams around. Highly 10 out 10 recommend this to everyone.

First off let me say, my experience from the initial response back from them to the complementary consultation was awesome. We spent a few minutes on the phone via text, one of the questions that I were asked is what was my preference for trainer? My response was preferably a male but more over, someone who is patient seeing that I'm a newbie. I was paired with Brad and let me say this, he was attentive, patient, sensitive to the fact that I have an injury.....which I was cleared for. However, I felt at home even though I only signed up on the shorter program to test it out seeing that I'm a newbie. Long and short of the story, I was please with the interaction from the person that responded to my msg and even more please with my trainer Brad. I'm happy that they're still trainers like Brad out there in the fitness arena. I would recommend this facility to anyone. Even though it's a tussle to get there for me, seeing that I don't drive. It's definitely worth the travel via transit.

Fantastic experience: This is a great little gym! I’m really impressed by the cleanliness and the friendly, professional staff. I was dreading the initial consultation because in the past I’ve experienced it as a way to sell personal training, but I was so pleasantly surprised when they just looked over my program and gave legitimately helpful advice. l tried out some classes as well and loved them. The covid protocols are awesome, I never have any issues getting a desired time slot or having to wait for equipment. There are lots of free weights and all the cardio equipment you’d ever want. Another bonus - the people that frequent the gym are responsible and clean the equipment after use. A+!

Fantastic experience: Their new covid protocols are great becuase now it's never too busy in the free weights section. I had a free consult from a trainer there, Wendy Peterson and she's so awesome! She gave me advice that is realistic as part of a long term lifestyle. I would reccomended her to beginners and experienced fitness people as she is hilarious and and clearly she knows what she is talking about.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym! Very friendly and professional environment, super clean, took great initiatives to make the most out of Covid restrictions. I'm usually really self-conscious when I work out but the staff here really helped me overcome the difficult relationship I had with exercise. Staff is outgoing and caring, the environment is always free of judgment, classes are accessible to all levels, small weights are available - and best of all, the showers are 5 star hotel-level and give off a spa vibe which is so welcome after a good workout. Pro: fluffy towels! Couldn't recommend this place enough!

Fantastic experience: Terra's Thursday morning hour-long Fun & Functional is a great opportunity to check in with my entire body once a week! Terra's class includes a little bit of everything you could ask for: get your heart pumping, stretch and check in with your posture, balance and coordination. If motion is lotion, Terra's class is a day at the spa! Give it a try if you haven't already.

The facility itself is extremely clean and the equipment is well-kept, the staff is friendly and helpful, for a smaller space, everything that you need for a great workout is there as well as beautiful change rooms with everything you need to get ready for work again. Urban Athlete is a small business owned by two wonderful individuals who care immensely about their studio and their members. Even through the pandemic, Urban has gone virtual and the classes are amazing! I would recommend Urban to anyone and everyone in need of a great gym!

Fantastic experience: I have been thrilled with my experience at urban athlete. They have a variety of classes, both in person and virtually, which has been great during covid. All of the coaches are really helpful and supportive, and I have felt welcomed since my first day - coaches work with you during classes to adjust the workout to your skills, which I really appreciate. It’s a small enough gym that you can actually get to know folks, and feel a sense of community. 5/5.

Fantastic experience: I came in this weekend for some general information and a tour and WOW was I blown away. I don't often leave rave reviews, however, the front desk staff (I believe his name was Shaheer) was so kind, patient and informative - not like many other gyms in the city who are quick to get you to sign a contract and leave. Gym is fantastic and super clean, unfortunately for me a little too far of a commute but I wish it wasn't.

Negative experience: Straight up price gouging, went there to check it out because it’s close to the house. the gym wasn’t very big at all and it charges 3 times more a monthly than what you would pay anywhere else, I was shocked!! , I guess it’s not for me.

Negative experience: First of all the price of a drop in here $20.00 just to workout.....I've been training for over 25 yrs....swimming ect as well....been to many facilities everywhere.....I found the staff very Unprofessional.....There's also not enough equipment to properly train.... They call it Urban Athlete.....but there was none it sight......I went for 8 workout's during the virus....Total $160....making appts ....then I wasn't allowed to book appointment the day before....as I wasn't a member.....even though I just finished paying $140 for 7 drop in appointment workouts....?.A Very Disappointing experience....In my opinion if You Value your Time & Money ....I wouldn't Waste Either Here.... Yuppie Ville.....
